Indicates a pad was pressed, command read and accepted. Turn off entry tone
by pressing and holding "Activate Controls" pad for 3 to 5 seconds.
Threeshorttones indicate command accepted.
1 Activates control panel. If activated, the Display Panel on the controller will
remain on even after the door is closed. Control panel remains active at

2. Turns off Power Up Alarm (flashing seven segment display and POWER),
after power is first plugged in or after power outage.
Note: All pads.except Alarm Off,are inactive until Activate Controls is pressed.
Activates freezertemperaturesettingmode.

played. Factory setting is 0°F.
2. Change freezer temperature setting by pressing Higher Temp or Lower

Activates refrigerator temperature setting mode.

displayed. Factory setting is 38° F.
2. Change refrigerator temperature setting by pressing Higher Temp or Lower

Raises temperature settings one degree ata time. If entry toneis on,tone will
sound at each temperature setting until top level is reached.

Turn on temperature setting function ofcontrol panel by pressing Higher

2. Press and hold HigherTemp pad to raise temperature setting at a faster
rate.
Lowers temperature settings one degree at a time. Ifentry tone is on, tone wil

Activates Maximum freezer mode, setting freezer temperature to coldest set
ting. Current factory setting is 4 hours.

Display Panel Operation (Continued)
Fast Cool Pad
Press and release "FAST COOL" pad.
1. Switches to high compressor speed (115 hz) and uses Max Frzand
Max Refset pointsto pull temperatures down quickly.
2. This condition continuesfora specificperiodof time (factory default is
2hours) that can be set by technician.
Alarm Off Pad
Turns off alarmsignals. See Alarms section to interpret alarmsignals.
1. Press and hold Alarm Off pad for 3 seconds to deactivate audible Door
Open alarm. To reactivate Door Open alarm,press and hold Alarm Off
pad for 3 seconds.
2. If Alarm Offpad is pressed and condition causing alarm is not
corrected,alarm will reset.
Display Off Pad
1. Deactivates control panel.
2. Deactivates temperature indication area of control panel.

Power Disconnect Switch
Usepower disconnect switch to disconnect power without unplugging refrigerator. Power disconnect
switchislocatedbehind air grille on top right side.Refrigerator isshipped with power disconnect switch in
the on position.

Alarms
Power Loss Alarm
After power is initially applied to the unit,ifa power loss is experienced, thetemperature (7 segment display characters) andthe
"POWER" indicator on the LED display will flash (1 sec. on and 1sec.off). All other indicators willbe off.
Press and release the "ALARM OFF" pad, this will turnthe "POWER" indicator offandthecurrent temperature will be displayed.
Door Open Alarm
Jf the control senses that a door is open for a period of time equal to the DOOR OPEN DELAY (factory set to 3 min
utes), the controller invokes an alarm tone that beeps continuously with a pattern of 330ms on, 250ms off, 300 ms
on, 1250ms off, and "DOOR" indicator illuminates.
1. Turn off Door Open audible alarm by pressing Alarm Off pad or by closing door
2. Deactivate Door Open audible alarm by pressing Activate Controls pad and then press and hold Alarm Off pad
for 3 seconds.
3. Door alarm delay can be adjusted in Program Mode B.
High Temperature Alarm
Whenthe controllerdetectscriticaltemperature in either the refrigerator (above 50deg F)or freezer (above15deg F) fora du
ration of 2 hours, an Alarm willsound ( 1sec.on and 1sec. offcontinuously). The "HIGFI TEMP" indicator on LED willcome
on and
"REFRIGERATOR" or "FREF2ZER" indicator on LED will flash (1 sec.on and 1sec.off) to accompany the audible alarm.
1. Alarm tone stops if temperature(s) falls below levels indicated above.
2. The indicators will continue to display as described above until "ALARM OFF" pad is pressed and released.
Thermistor Alarm
When the controller detectsan open thermistor, five beeps (300 mson, 300 msoff) willoccur, the LED willdisplay"oPn"in the
temperature area and the applicable
"REFRIGERATOR" or "FREEZER" indicator willilluminate, indicating the faultythermistor
location.
When the controllerdetects a shorted thermistor, five beeps (300ms on, 300ms off) willoccur, the LED willdisplay"Shr"in the
temperaturearea and the applicable
"REFRIGERATOR" or "FREEZER" indicator willilluminate, indicating the faulty thermistor
location.
Thecontrollerwillstill maintain temperature control and defrost operations in both sections of the unit until repair is accom
plished, regardless of whether the thermistor isopen or shorted. In the section where faultythermistor islocated, unit willbe
operated as if the cut-out temperature is never reached, while the other section will be unaffected and operate normally.
Temperature Control Operation
For any temperature setting,outputs will beturned off/on based oncut-in/cut-out temperature determined by resistance levels of
freezer and refrigerator thermistors.
Refrigerator and Freezer Thermistor (NTC)
Astemperature decreases.resistance increases.
As temperature increases,resistance decreases.
NOTE: Openor shorted thermistor will result in unit continuing to cool, the section containing the faulty thermistor will never
obtaincutoutand will continue to tryand reach it,thiscould result in freezing upifnot repaired ina timely manner.

Freezer temperature setting and thermistor value will determine if compressor/condenser fan and evaporator fan
switches are open or closed. Compressor/condenser fan switch must be open for 6 minutes before switch can
close again (compressor dwell time).
Refrigerator
temperature setting and thermistor value will determine if fresh food fan switch is open or closed.
Cut-out and cut-in temperature values must be reached and maintained for 15 seconds before output state will
change (digital delay).
Refrigerator
and freezer control calibration can be adjusted in Program Mode C.

Program Mode
The Viking refrigeration control supports programmable options and EEPROM settings which are accessed via Pro
gram Mode. There are three modes; Mode A, Mode B, and Mode C. Several options/setting are accessible in each
mode. The specifics ofeach mode are described below.
Accessing Program Mode A
Enable keypad by pressing and releasing "ACTIVATE CONTROLS" , press the FAST COOL key once,
and within five (5) seconds press HIGHER, LOWER, HIGHER and LOWER. The controller will switch to
Program Mode A. The 7-segment characters in the LED display will show "PrA" andan audio confirmation
will sound three times (300ms on, 300ms off).

Press"REFTEMP" keyonce to display raw thermistor temperature with
the offset,no filtering applied. "REFRIGERATOR" illuminates along
with numerical value.
Press "FRZ TEMP" key once to display raw thermistor temperature
with the offset, no filteringapplied. "FREEZER" illuminates along with
numerical value.
Press FAST COOL keyonce to show the current type. The LED display
will show "Add"for adaptive and "Cnd" for conventional.
Adjustment - Press
FAST COOL key to toggle between adaptive and
conventional defrost types.
Press and hold ALARM OFF key for three (3) seconds. The display will
initially show "Cd".
Adjustment - Press HIGHER or LOWER keyonceto viewand adjust
value.
Exit- Press ACTIVATE CONTROLS keyonce.Thedisplaywillshow
"PrA" to indicate control is still in Program Mode A.
Press DISPLAY OFFkeyonce. Thedisplay will initiallyshow "CLF".
Adjustment - Press HIGHER or LOWER key once to view and adjust
value. Holding the HIGHER or LOWER key will adjust values in incre
ments of 5.
Exit - Press ACTIVATE CONTROLS key once. The display will show
"PrA" to indicate control is still in Program Mode A.
Press and holde DISPLAY OFF for three (3) seconds to show the soft
wareversion on the temperature display. Pressing HIGHER or LOWER
will cycle between aletter prefix anda two digit version as follows: "A" +
the major version, "b" + the minor version, "C" + the build number.

"PrA"to indicate control is still in Program Mode A.
Exiting Program Mode A
1. Press and hold the ACTIVATE CONTROLS key for three (3) seconds. The control will change
from Program Mode Ato Normal Mode and any changes made in Program Mode will be
saved to EEPROM.
2. If the keypad is not used for ten (10) minutes, the control will automatically change from Pro
gram Mode A to Normal Mode and any changes made in Program Mode will not be saved to
EEPROM.

Accessing Program Mode B
When the controller is in Program Mode A, press the "ACTIVATE CONTROLS" key once. The controller
will switch to Program Mode B. The 7-segment characters in the LED display will show "Prb".

Exiting Program Mode B
1. Press and hold the ACTIVATE CONTROLS key for three (3) seconds. The control will change
from Program Mode Bto Normal Mode and any changes made in Program Mode will be
saved to EEPROM.
2. Press the ACTIVATE CONTROLS key once. The control will change from Program Mode Bto
Program Mode A and any changes made in Program Mode will be saved to EEPROM.
3. If the keypad is not used for ten (10) minutes, the control will automaticallychange from Pro
gram Mode B to Normal Mode and any changes made in Program Mode will not be saved to
EEPROM.

Exit - Press

Exiting Program Mode C
1. Press and hold the ACTIVATE CONTROLS key for three (3) seconds. The control will change from
Program Mode C to Normal Mode and any changes made in Program Mode will be saved to EE
PROM.
2. Press the ACTIVATE CONTROLS key once. The control will change from Program Mode C to Pro
gram Mode A and any changes made in Program Mode will be saved to EEPROM.
3. If the keypad is not used for ten (10) minutes, the control will automatically change from Program
Mode C to Normal Mode and any changes made in Program Mode will not be saved to EEPROM.

Testing Mode
Forced defrost
With unitin normalmode, press and release activate controls to enable keypad. Press and holdthe "HIGH
ER" key andthenwithout releasing the HIGHER key, press the "DISPLAY OFF" key for three seconds. The
control willbeep three times to alert user that function has been enabled.
Unitimmediately suspendsallcoolingoperations, compressor turns off and evaporator fan, condensor
fan, and refrigerator crossoverfan allshut off. Defrostheatersare enabled dependant upon satisfaction of
defrost terminator.
Forced Pull-Down (Forced Compressor Start)
Withunit in normal mode, pressand release activate controls to enablekeypad. Press and hold the LOW
ER" key and then without releasing the LOWER key, press the "DISPLAY OFF" key for three seconds. The
control willbeep three times to alert user that function has been enabled.
Unit immediatelyenergizes compressor, condensor fan, refrigerator cross over fan and evaporator fans in
an effort toreach cut-out temperature in both sections of the unit. Compressor dwell time is ignored.
Showroom Mode
TheShowroom Mode isentered by first pressing and holding the "ACTIVATE CONTROLS" key, and then
without releasing the
ACTIVATE CONTROLS key, simultaneously pressing both the "HIGHER" and
"ALARM OFF" keys for three (3) seconds. The control shall beep three times and the SHOW indicator will
be displayed on the alpha-numeric displayto alert the user that ShowroomMode has been entered.
TheShowroomMode is used for the purpose of displaying modelsand allowing a user to interact with the
product on the
sales floor without havingthe temperature control and defrost operations active.
ShowroomModeisexited by first pressing and holding the
"ACTIVATE CONTROLS" key, and then with
out releasingthe ACTIVATE CONTROLS key, simultaneously pressing both the "HIGHER" and "ALARM
OFF" keys for three (3) seconds. The control shall beep three times and the SHOW indicator will disappear
and the actual compartment temperatures willbe shown in the displays
Sabbath Mode
The Sabbath Mode isentered by first pressing and holding the "ACTIVATE CONTROLS" key, andthen
without releasing the ACTIVATE CONTROLS key, simultaneously pressing the "DISPLAY OFF" key
for three (3) seconds. The control shall beep three times andthe SAB indicator will be displayed on the
alpha-numeric display to alert the user that Sabbath Mode has been entered.
The Sabbath Mode is used for the purpose of controlling the refrigeration units without interior lights,
changesto the LED display, and enunciators.
The Sabbath Mode is exited by first pressing and holding the "ACTIVATE CONTROLS" key, and then with
out releasing the ACTIVATE CONTROLS key, simultaneously pressing the "DISPLAY OFF" key for three
(3)seconds. The SAB indicator will disappear and any active alarmconditionsthat were presentprior to or
during Sabbath Mode will be indicated to the user audibly and visually.

Icemaker
OPERATION
Thermostat closes when temperature reaches 17° ± 3° F (-8.3° ± 1.5° C). Current flows through thermostat
to
motor, see "Icemaker wiring diagram." Motor is linked with drive gear. From module, there are copper
contacts that ride on copper strips on backside of drive gear. As the drive gear rotates, contacts will make
or breaka circuit (track) to the copper strips to operate the icemaker.

All components canbe tested without removing icemaker or moving refrigerator away from installed posi
tion. Removethe cover to access test points shown in Figure below.

Verify icemaker has power (hold freezer door switch in closed position tosupplypower), shut offarm is
down, and freezer is cold enough to close bimetal thermostat (below 17° F).
• Test point L and N will verify 120 volts to icemaker module.
• Test pointT and H will verifybimetalthermostatisopen or closed.
• Verify that test probe goes in at least 1/2" into test point to ensure proper contact.

CAUTION
Toavoid icemaker damage, do not short any
contacts together other than those specified.
1. Using jumper (see jumper above) short T and H to run motor. If motor runs with jumper but did not run
in normal operation, replace bimetal thermostat. If motor does not run, replace faulty motor.
2. Leave jumper in for halfof revolution of ejector blades. Touch heater mold, ifit feels warm, heater is
workingproperly.
3. Remove jumper, water valve will be energized in last half of revolution, if mold heater has not failed.

Water fill adjustment screw
Ifwater fill is inadequate, lessthan 140cc,
itcan be increasedbyturning the water fill
adjustment screw (see photo to left) in a
counterclockwise direction. If water fill is too
great it can be decreased by turning screwin
a clockwise direction.
One half turn willadjust the fill by approxi
mately twothirdsof an ounce.
