YELLOW.
TheBROWNcolouredwiremustbeconnectedtotheterminal,whichismarkedwiththe
letter“L”oriscolouredRED.
The BLUE coloured wire must be connected to the terminal, which is marked with the
letter“N”oriscolouredBLACK.

PREPARING TO USE YOUR TOASTER FOR THE FIRST TIME
1. Remove any stickers from the surface of the unit and wipe the
outside of your toaster with a damp cloth.
2. Ensure that the full bottom removable crumb tray is in its place.
Figures1&2.
3. Select a location for the toaster. The location should be:
•Aat,heat-resistant,non-ammablesurface.
•Atleast8cmawayfromwallsorthebackofcountertops.
•Atleast30cmdistancefromthetopofthetoastertothe
bottom of the cabinet.
•Awayfromammablematerials,suchascurtainsandwallfabric.
•Awayfromagasstoveameorelectricelement.
4. Plug the power cord into the appropriate electrical outlet.
5. Without inserting any food into the bread slots, push the bread lever all the way
down.
6. Set the toaster dial to level 2.
7. Push the start " " button to start the toasting process.
8. Thersttoastingprocesswillpreheatthenewelementsandburnoffanydust,which
may have accumulated during storage or manufacturing. It is normal for this burn off to
create an odour.
9. Oncetoastingiscomplete,unitwillsound3times.
10.Moveleverup.

operating instructions
Inserting the food into the bread slots for toasting:
Nowyouarereadytoinsertyourfoodintothebreadslots.Keepthefollowingtipsin•
mind when inserting your food.
Mosttypesofbreadsandpastriescanbetoasted,suchasthicklyslicedbreads,wafes,•etc.Slicesshouldnot,however,besothickastojamthebreadslots.Remember,the
toast setting is the default setting.
Whentoastingtwoslicesatatime,theslicesshouldbeofequalsizeandfreshnessto•
ensure even toasting.
When toasting two slices of bread, place one slice in the centre of each bread slot.•
When toasting one slice of bread, place the slice in the centre of either bread slot.•

EXPANDABLE TOAST SLOT
1 .YourVillaWare®toaster includes a useful feature, which allows you to accommodate
breads of up to 5
x
1 5 x 11 .5 cm with one of the slots fully expanded.
2. In order to expand one of the slots, slide the expandable slot
lever to the right or to the left depending what slot you would
like
toexpand.SeeFigure

3.Oncetheslotisexpandedyoucantheninsertthebreadyou
would like to toast.
TOASTING
1 . Press the bread carriage lever down. The self-centring bread guides
will automatically centre the food for even browning. The bread
carriage lever only serves to move the food up and down.When
pushed down, it will not automatically start the toasting process.

2.Youcanadjusthowlightordarkthetoastertoastsyourfood.Your
selection should vary based on the moisture content, thickness of
bread and your darkness preference. To select the darkness setting
turnthe7-toastsettingsdialtoyourdesiredlevel.SeeFigure5.
3.Pushthestart/cancelbutton" " to initiate the toasting process.
NOTE: Duringtoastingprocess,youcanusethebreadcarriage
lever to move the food up to check it and down again to continue
toasting.Thatwillnotinterruptthetoastingprocess.SeeFigure6.
4. After the desired level of darkness has been reached, the amber
knob light will turn off and toaster will beep 3 times indicating your
food is ready.
WARNING: THEFOODWILLNOTPOPUPAUTOMATICALLY.
5.Movethebreadcarriageleverupandcarefullyremovethetoastedfoodfromthebread
slots.
WARNING: Toasted food can be very hot, especially pastry llings.Handlewithcare.
TIP: Toremovefoodjammedinthebreadslots,unplugthetoasterandremovethefood
once the toaster has cooled down.
WARNING: Neverinsertyourngersormetallicutensilsintothebreadslots.
KEEP WARM
When toasting your foods, you can choose to set the keep warm
function if you desire, which can keep the food warm for up to 5
minutesafterithasnishedtoastingtotheselectedlevel.SeeFigure7.
In order to use this function, please follow the instructions below:
1 .Followsteps1&2fromthe“Toasting”section.
2 . Push the keep warm button to activate this function.This function can be selected prior
or during the toasting process. If you select the keep warm function prior to starting the
toastingprocess,pressthekeepwarmbuttononceanditslightwillilluminate.Youwill
haveupto10secondstopressthestart/cancelbutton.
NOTE:Ifthestart/cancelbuttonisnotpressedwithinthe10-secondtimeframe,the
keep warm light will turn off indicating that this function will no longer be activated.

To select the keep warm function during the toasting process, simply press the keep
warm button once.The keep warm button light will illuminate indicating that this feature
has been selected.
3 .Pushthestart/cancelbuttontoinitiatethetoasting/keepwarmprocess.Theamberknob
light will illuminate.
NOTE: Duringtoastingprocess,youcanusethebreadcarriagelevertomovethefood
up to check it and down again to continue toasting.That will not interrupt the toasting
process.
4 . After the desired level of darkness has been reached, the toaster will beep once indicating
your food is ready and it will be kept warm for 5 minutes.The toaster will turn on and
off during this period to maintain the food warm without further toasting it. If you wish
to interrupt the keep warm process prior to the 5 minutes, press the keep warm button
once and the keep warm light will turn off. Please note that at the end of the 5 minutes
the food will not pop up automatically.
5 .Movethebreadcarriageleverupandcarefullyremovethetoastedfoodfromthebread
slots.
WARNING:Toastedfoodcanbeveryhot,especiallypastryllings.Handlewithcare.
TIP: Toremovefoodjammedinthebreadslots,unplugthetoasterandremovethefood
once the toaster has cooled down.
WARNING: Neverinsertyourngersormetallicutensilsintothebreadslots.
If you wish to cancel the keep warm function, please follow one of the 3 steps below:
a. Prior to starting the toasting process – Simply wait for 10 seconds and this feature will
automatically turn off or press the keep warm button once within the 10-second time
frame to cancel it.
 b.Duringtoastingprocess–Pushthestart/cancelbuttononcetostopbothprocesses,i.e.
toasting and keep warm.
 c.Duringthetoastingprocess–Ifyouwishtocompletethetoastingprocessandcancel
only the keep warm function, wait until the amber knob light turns off and the unit
beeps once and then press the keep warm button once.The keep warm button light
will turn off, indicating that this function has been cancelled.
DEFROSTING
1 .Placefrozenfoodintotheslotorslots.
2 .Followsteps1&2fromthe“Toasting”section.
3 . Press the defrost button to select this function.This function can be selected only prior to
starting the toasting process.The defrost light will illuminate and you will have up to 10
secondstopressthestart/cancelbuttontostarttheprocess.
NOTE:Ifthestart/cancelbuttonisnotpressedwithinthe10-secondtimeframe,the
defrost light will turn off indicating that this function will no longer be activated.
NOTE: Youcanusethekeepwarmanddefrostingfunctionstogether.Toactivatethis
feature, press the keep warm button right after you have selected the defrost function.
4 .Pushthestart/cancelbuttontoinitiatethedefrostingprocess.Thetoasterwilldefrostthe
food and automatically toast it to the selected level.

5 . After the desired level of darkness has been reached, the toaster will beep 3 times
indicating your food is ready.The food will not pop up automatically.
NOTE: If you have selected both the defrosting and keep warm features, the unit will
beep once when the defrosting and toasting processes are completed and then switch
automatically to the keep warm function for 5 minutes.
6 .Carefullyremovethetoastedfoodfromthebreadslots.
WARNING:Toastedfoodcanbeveryhot,especiallypastryllings.Handlewithcare.
TIP: Toremovefoodjammedinthebreadslots,unplugthetoasterandremovethefood
once the toaster has cooled down.
WARNING:Neverinsertyourngersormetallicutensilsintothebreadslots.
If you wish to cancel the defrost function, please follow one of the 2 steps below:
a. Prior to starting the toasting process – Simply wait for 10 seconds and this feature will
automatically turn off or press the defrost button once within the 10-second time
frame to cancel it.
 b.Duringtoastingprocess–Pushthestart/cancelbuttononcetostopbothprocesses,i.e.
defrosting and toasting.
cleaning your toaster
After use and before cleaning, unplug the toaster power cord from the power outlet and
wait for the toaster to cool.
Wipe the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth and then dry it with another cloth1. orpapertowel.Donotuseabrasivecleaners;theywilldamagethetoaster’snish.
WARNING: Donotuseanypointedorsharparticlesforcleaningtheinsideofthe
toaster;thismaydamagetheproduct.
Lightly tap the sides of the toaster to dislodge any crumbs caught in the toast chamber.2.
Removethecrumbtraytocleanit.Yourtoasterhasafullbottom3. removable/magnetictraythatcanberemovedforcomplete
cleaning.Seegure8.Wipethetraycleanwithadampclothor
handwashitwithsoapywaterandasoftsponge.Dryitwellprior
to placing it back in the unit.
CAUTION: The removable tray should not be washed in the
dishwasher.
Be certain to put the crumb tray back into the unit before using the toaster again.The4.
toaster will not turn on without the bottom tray.
WARNING:Emptythecrumbtrayfrequently.Crumbswillaccumulateinthecrumbtray
andcouldcatchreifnotemptiedperiodically.

cheese sandwich
A delicious grill cheese in a non-traditional way.
Serves 4.
Ingredients:
4thickslicesofbriocheorPandeMie 
 bread(about11/4inchslices)
½ kilo of thinly sliced ham
1wedgeofSaintAlbraycheese(similar
 tobriecheese)
4 tablespoons of mayonnaise
4 tablespoons of whole grain mustard
20 sprigs of chopped chives
Carefullycutapocketthelengthofthe
bread.Makethepocketasbigasyoucan
by cutting as close as possible to the other
sides without cutting them open.The pocket
willbeusedforthelling.
Place 3 slices of ham, add a layer of cheese,
spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1
tablespoon of mustard inside the pocket
with a sprinkle of fresh chopped chives.
Place in the VillaWare®Toaster and toast
twice on level 4. Serve hot.
*Note,youmustuseasoftcheeseora
grated medium cheese so that it melts in

Perfect way to star your day. Makes 2½cups.
Ingredients:
5 cups of fresh, sweet strawberries, stemmed and seeded
4 cups of sugar
3/4cupofwater
1(13/4-ounce)packagepowderedfruitpectin
Toastedbread(Frenchbaguette,brioche)
Crushstrawberriescompletely.
Pourthestrawberries,withjuices,intobowl
andmixinsugar;setasidefor10minutes.
Combinewaterandpectininsaucepan.
Bring to a boil. Boil one minute, stirring
constantly. Stir pectin mixture into
