1. WARNINGS

- This device can be used for personal use at home.
- Use this device in an ambient temperature range between 41°F
- 95°F / 5°C - 35°C.

Please observe the polarity of the batteries. A polarity error may

2. INFORMATION
Upon birth, the baby is often weighed by a provider to monitor
weight loss and gradual return to birth weight. When they ar-
rive home, you may want to weigh them to monitor their growth
in between doctor’s visits. Monitoring weight is one indicator of
good health. Regular monitoring makes it possible to see changes
in weight, particularly when your baby is struggling to feed. Many
infant scales only cover a limited period of time. That is why Bewell-
Connect® developed MyBabyScale®, the smart, scalable, connected
wireless baby scale that lets you keep track of your child’s weight
from birth all the way to adolescence until a maximum weight of 110
lb / 50 kg.
2.1. BABY’S WEIGHT
A baby grows the most in its rst year, gaining around 13 lb / 6
kg in the rst 12 months then just 6 lb / 3 kg the following year.
However, bear in mind that a baby grows in stages, with pauses,
and that there are great height and weight variations between in-
dividual children1.

2.2. CHILD’S GROWTH CURVE

Regularly monitoring your child’s growth makes it possible to
create graphs (Height and weight, CF 4. APP). A baby loses weight
in the three or four days following birth. This is a normal pheno-
menon. Once the baby has returned to its birth weight, growth
should continue regularly2.

Using the MyBabyScale® app, you can create graphs tracking your
child’s weight and height (according to WHO standards) and show
them to your doctor regularly.
• A baby loses weight in the three or four days following birth

2.3. ABOUT BMI  BODY MASS INDEX
A study by American researchers from Harvard University found
that if BMI increases during the rst 6 months, the child is more li-
kely to suer from premature obesity at 3 years4. BMI is an indicator
of being overweight and potential medical risks, based on the ratio
of weight to height. The weight graph helps to identify children
who are obese or at risk of becoming so. BMI increases in the rst
year and then decreases until the age of 6 before increasing again.
This rise, which occurs on average at 6 years, is called adiposity re-
bound5. The earlier the adiposity rebound takes place, the greater
the risk of obesity. An upward percentile crossing is a warning sign.

2.4. CALCULATING BMI IN CHILDREN
The child’s BMI is calculated using the following formula: BMI =
weight (in kilograms) / (height (in meters) x height (in meters)). For
example, for a 9-year-old girl weighing 42 lb / 19 kg and measuring
43 in / 1.10 m, the BMI will be: BMI = 19 / (1.1 x 1.1) or 19 / 1.21 =
15.70. As you can see, the resulting BMI for the child in question
(15.70) is entirely in line with the BMI-for-age chart for girls.
3. USING THE DEVICE
3.1. PRECAUTIONS BEFORE USE
- The child should not be left unsupervised when using the device.

- Place the baby scale on a solid, at, skid-proof surface (avoid pla-
cing it on a carpet, for example).
- Weight varies throughout the day, so we recommend weighing
before meals to obtain comparable results. It is advisable to take
the weight measurement at the same time every day, preferably
on an empty stomach.

First use
Remove the cover from the battery compartment underneath the
device. Insert 2 1.5V LR06-AA type batteries. Turn on the baby scale
using the“on/o” button.
Choosing the unit of weight
After pressing the on/o button to turn on MyBabyScale, press the
“on/o” button again to choose the unit of weight in “lb & oz” or
“kg”before the gure“0.00” appears on the screen.
Attaching the tray (FIG. 1) or disc (FIG. 2) to the base
Turn the base upside down. Unlock the locking mechanism (FIG. 3)
by turning it to open. Insert the tray or the disc into the base using
the notches.Turn the locking mechanism (FIG. 3) to close while hol-
ding the scale or disc in place. Make sure that the tray is securely
locked before weighing the child.

Starting up
- Place the baby scale on a at, solid surface, making sure that it
is stable and that nothing touches it. Press the «on/o» button.
- On rst use, the gures ash during weighing. The baby‘s weight
is displayed on the screen at the same time as the word“hold”. The
scale will turn o automatically. On subsequent uses, the previous
weight recorded is displayed at startup.

To perform another weighing, remove the baby from the scale. Press
the“hold”button until the“0.00 lb”gure appears on the screen.

- If you wish to place a towel under the baby before weighing it, put
it on the scale before turning it on. Press the “on/o” button and
place the baby on the tray when“0.00” appears on the screen. The
scale automatically performs the calculation and only displays the
baby’s weight (at the same time as the word“hold”).
- After weighing, remove the baby at the same time as the towel. A
negative value will appear, press“tare”to reset the scale to zero for
future weight measurements.
- When the child is able to stand, replace the baby weighing tray
with the disc.
Do not use the disc to weigh a child that cannot yet stand.
Shutdown
- The device shuts down automatically after displaying the weight
(approximately one minute).
- The device can be shut down manually by pressing the“on/o”but-
ton.
3.3. CHANGING THE BATTERIES
- The battery compartment is located at the back of the device.
- When using it for the rst time, insert 2 new 1.5V LR6-AA batteries
into the scale.
- When the LCD screen displays “LO”, the batteries are low or used
up. Replace used batteries, taking care to observe the polarity. A
polarity error may cause damage to the device and compromise
the warranty.
- Never insert rechargeable batteries. Use single-use batteries only.
Do not mix new batteries with used batteries.
- Do not throw your used batteries out with household waste.
- Take your used batteries to a collection point.
Remove the batteries if the device is not in use for a long period, in
order to avoid any leaks that may damage the unit.
4. USING THE APP
4.1. DATA TRANSFER
Download the BewellConnect® app
Download the BewellConnect® app from your smartphone
or tablet store. (App Store for an iOS device, Play Store for
an Android device)
First use – Programming personal data
- Start by rst creating a prole for yourself, and then adding an
account for your child
- Personalize the proles by entering age, height and sex
Taking the measurement
- To track your child’s growth, connect your device (mobile phone,
tablet) using Bluetooth (Bluetooth 4.0 smart Low Energy connec-
tivity, compatible with iPhone 4s and up).
- Turn on the scale by pressing the on/o button.
- Open the BewellConnect® app and choose your child’s prole.
- Start MyBabyScale® and go to the measurement screen before
weighing your child, to save the data.
- Place the child on the baby scale.
- Data is measured and transferred to the smartphone or tablet au-
tomatically with MyBabyScale®.
- You can consult the growth graphs in the app.
4.2. APP FEATURES
MyBabyScale® lets you track your baby’s growth (weight and
height). However, other features are also available to track on the
app from self-reported data:
- Growth: Size, head circumference, arm circumference and waist
circumference.

- Breastfeeding: breastfeeding duration on the right breast, breast-
feeding duration on the left breast.
- Bottles: quantity of bottles, breast milk or formula.
- Sleep: duration.
- Diaper: consistency and amount of stools/urine.
- Mood: it is possible to add your baby’s mood whenever you enter
a new measurement. There is also the option to indicate whether
there has been any regurgitation.
5. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Do not allow the weighing tray to become wet as this could make
it slippery and cause an accident.
- Store your baby scale horizontally.
- Store your baby scale in a dry place and away from moisture.
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit. If necessary, use a cloth
moistened slightly with tap water.
- Do not use alcohol, benzene, thinner or other chemicals to clean
the device.
- This product is not waterproof, avoid contact with liquid.
- If the unit has been exposed to temperatures below 32°F / 0°C, be
sure to leave it for 30 minutes at room temperature before use.
Without this waiting period, the results could be wrong.
- If the baby scale is not in use for a long period of time, be sure to
remove the batteries (they could damage the device).
- Do not use rechargeable batteries.
6. AVOIDING MALFUNCTIONS
- Do not drop the device, avoid jolts and shocks.
- Do not insert anything into the device, excluding batteries.
- Do not disassemble the baby scale.
- Do not put the device in water.
- Adhere to the temperature and humidity ranges specied in the
specications.

- En caso de fallos o mal funcionamiento, deje de usar el producto.

2. INFORMACIÓN

El control regular del crecimiento de su hijo permite crear grácos
(Estatura y peso, CF. 4. APLICACIÓN). Un bebé pierde peso durante
los tres o cuatro días después de su nacimiento. Este fenómeno es
normal. Una vez que el bebé ha alcanzado su peso de nacimiento,
el crecimiento continuará de manera regular2.

2.3. ACERCA DEL IMC, ÍNDICE DE MASA CORPORAL
Un estudio realizado por investigadores estadounidenses de la
Universidad de Harvard demostró que si el IMC aumenta durante
los primeros 6 meses, el niño tiene mayor riesgo de sufrir de obe-
sidad prematura a los 3 años4. El IMC es un indicador de sobrepeso
y potenciales riesgos médicos, basándose en la proporción entre
el peso y la estatura. El gráco del peso ayuda a identicar a los
niños obesos o con riesgo de serlo. El IMC aumenta el primer año y,
luego, disminuye hasta los 6 años, antes de volver a aumentar. Este
aumento, que ocurre en promedio a los 6 años se llama «rebote de
adiposidad»5. Mientra más temprano aparezca este último, mayor
es el riesgo de obesidad. Un cambio de percentil ascendente es una
señal de advertencia.

2.4. CÁLCULO DEL IMC EN NIÑOS
El IMC de los niños se calcula con la fórmula siguiente: IMC= Peso
(en kilogramos) / estatura (en metros) x estatura (en metros). Por
ejemplo, para una niña de 9 años que pesa 42 lb / 19 kg y mide 43
in / 1,10 m su IMC es de: IMC = 19 / (1,1 x 1,1) o 19 / 1,21 = 15,70.

Como se puede observar, el IMC resultante para la niña en cuestión
(15,70) se encuentra completamente de acuerdo con la tabla del
IMC correspondiente a las niñas.
3. UTILIZACIÓN DEL APARATO
3.1. PRECAUCIONES ANTES DE UTILIZAR
- Cuando utilice el aparato, no debe dejar al niño sin vigilancia.
- Ponga la báscula pesabebés sobre una supercie sólida, plana y
antideslizante (por ejemplo, evite ponerla sobre una alfombra).
- El peso varía durante el día, por ello, recomendamos realizar el
pesaje antes de las comidas para obtener resultados compara-
bles. Se recomienda realizar el pesaje todos los días a la misma
hora, de preferencia con el estómago vacío.

Primera utilización
Quite la tapa del compartimento de pilas que se sitúa bajo el apa-
rato. Ponga dos pilas de 1,5 V tipo LR06-AA. Encienda la báscula
pulsando el botón «on/o» (Encendido/apagado).
Seleccionar la unidad de peso
Después de pulsar el botón «on/o» de MyBabyScale, antes de que
aparezca en la pantalla la cifra «0.00», vuelva a pulsar este botón
para seleccionar la unidad de peso «Ib & oz» o «kg».
Poner la bandeja (FIG. 1) o plataforma (FIG. 2) sobre la base
Ponga la base al revés. Abra el mecanismo de bloqueo (FIG. 3)
girándolo. Ponga la bandeja o la plataforma sobre la base usando
las muescas. Gire el mecanismo de bloqueo (FIG. 3) para cerrarlo,
mientras sujeta la báscula o la plataforma en su lugar. Asegúrese de
que la bandeja esté rmemente bloqueada antes de pesar al niño.

- Al usar por primera vez, las cifras parpadean durante el pesaje. En
la pantalla, se visualiza el peso del bebé al mismo tiempo que la
palabra„Hold“. La báscula pesabebés se apaga automáticamente.
Durante los usos siguientes, al encender el aparato verá el peso
memorizado anteriormente.
- Para realizar otro pesaje, saque al bebé de la báscula. Pulse el
botón„Hold“ hasta que en la pantalla aparezca„0.00 lb“.
- Si desea poner una toalla bajo el bebé para pesarlo, póngala en
la báscula antes de encenderla. Pulse el botón „on/o“ y, cuando
aparezca„0.00“, ponga al bebé sobre la bandeja. La báscula realiza
automáticamente el cálculo y sólo muestra el peso del bebé (al
mismo tiempo que la palabra„Hold“).
- Después del pesaje, al mismo tiempo saque al bebé y la toalla.
Aparecerá un valor negativo, pulse „tara“ para poner la báscula
nuevamente en cero para realizar nuevos pesajes.
- Cuando el niño ya pueda sostenerse en pie, reemplace la bandeja
por la plataforma de pesaje.
No utilice la plataforma para pesar a un niño que aún no puede sostenerse
en pie.
Apagado
- El aparato se apaga automáticamente después de mostrar el peso
(aproximadamente un minuto).
- Puede apagar manualmente el aparato pulsando el botón “on/
o  ”.
3.3. CAMBIAR LAS PILAS
- El compartimento de pilas se sitúa en la parte trasera del aparato.
- Cuando lo use por primera vez, ponga en la báscula dos pilas nu-
evas LR6-AA de 1,5 V.
- Cuando en la pantalla led aparezca «LO», signica que las pilas tienen
poca energía o están gastadas. Cámbielas respetando la polaridad.
Un error de polaridad puede dañar el aparato y anular la garantía.
- Nunca ponga pilas recargables. Utilice únicamente pilas desecha-
bles. No utilice pilas nuevas y usadas al mismo tiempo.
- No deseche las pilas gastadas junto con los residuos domésticos.
- TLleve las pilas gastadas a un punto de colecta.
Si no usa el aparato durante un período prolongado, quítele las pi-
las para evitar fugas que puedan dañar el aparato.
4. UTILIZACIÓN DE LA APLICACIÓN
4.1. TRANSFERENCIA DE DATOS
Descargue la aplicación BewellConnect®
Descargue la aplicación BewellConnect® en su teléfono ce-
lular o tableta. (App Store para dispositivos iOS y Play Store
para dispositivos Android).
Primer uso. Programación de datos personales
- Empiece creando su propio perl y, luego, añada uno para su hijo.
- Personalice los perles indicando la edad, la estatura y el sexo.
Efectuar la medición
-
Para hacer el seguimiento del crecimiento de su hijo, conecte el
dispositivo (teléfono celular o tableta) con Bluetooth (conectividad
Bluetooth 4.0 de baja energía, compatible con iPhone 4s y superior).
- Encienda la báscula pulsando el botón„on/o“.
- Inicie la aplicación BewellConnect® y seleccione el perl de su hijo.
- Inicie MyBabyScale® y vaya a la pantalla de medición antes de pes-
ar a su hijo y guardar la información.
- Ponga a su hijo sobre la báscula.
- Luego de realizar el pesaje, los datos se transeren automática-
mente al celular o la tableta con MyBabyScale®.
- Puede consultar los grácos de crecimiento en la aplicación.

4.2. CARACTERÍSTICAS DE LA APLICACIÓN
MyBabyScale® le permite realizar el seguimiento del crecimiento
del bebé (peso y estatura). Sin embargo, también dispone de otras
funciones, en la aplicación, para hacer el seguimiento a partir de la
información que ha registrado:
- Crecimiento: estatura, perímetro cefálico, circunferencia del brazo
y la cintura.
- Lactancia materna: la duración del amamantamiento del seno de-
recho y del seno izquierdo.
- Mamilas: cantidad de mamilas, leche materna o de fórmula.
- Sueño: duración.
- Pañales: consistencia y abundancia deposiciones/micciones.
- Humor: es posible agregar el humor de su hijo cada vez que intro-
duzca una nueva medición. Además, existe la opción de indicar si
ha habido regurgitaciones.
5. LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO
- No deje que la bandeja se humedezca, ya que puede volverse res-
baladiza y provocar un accidente.
- Guarde la báscula en posición horizontal.
- Guarde la báscula en un lugar seco y alejado de la humedad.
- Limpie el aparato con un trapo suave y seco. Si es necesario,
emplee un trapo ligeramente humedecido con agua del grifo.
- No utilice alcohol, benceno, disolvente ni otros productos quími-
cos abrasivos para limpiar el aparato.
- Este producto no es resistente al agua, evite que entre en cont-
acto con líquidos.
- Si el aparato se ha expuesto a una temperatura inferior a 32 °F / 0 °C,
déjeloatemperaturaambientedurante30minutosantesdeusarlo.
De lo contrario, los resultados pueden ser incorrectos.
- Si no usa la báscula durante un período prolongado, sáquele las
pilas, ya que pueden dañar el producto.
- No use pilas recargables.
6. EVITAR EL MAL FUNCIONAMIENTO
- No deje caer el aparato, evite las sacudidas y golpes.
- No introduzca nada en el aparato, excepto las pilas.
- No desmonte la báscula.
- No ponga el aparato en el agua.
- Respete los rangos de temperatura y humedad que se indican en
las especicaciones.
