This document is the Web-based Configuration Guide and is intended to help engineers
needing to configure the switches PoE features – where the default settings are not suitable.
This guide uses the Vista 24-Port 100M PoE + 2-Port Gigabit PoE Managed Ethernet Switch as an
example. If there is inconsistency between the instruction (e.g. port number etc.) and the actual
product, please refer to the actual product.

Configuration Instruction
The Vista QSW16/24M switches are provided with a default configuration that may be suitable for
the majority of applications. However, should customization be required, the switches dedicated PoE
Managed port can use to access the Web graphic user interface (GUI) to modify or view the status
of the below aspects.
Web System Overview
The Web system provides access to modify or view the below functions.
1) Set global PoE power budget and reserve
2) View the switches total power status
3) Set individual PoE ports for their maximum power and priority
4) View each ports PoE status and draw
5) Set the IP address of the switch
6) Change password
7) Factory default
Please follow the instructions below to configure the switch via the Web system.
Environment Requirements
2.1 Hardware Requirements
A Windows PC\laptop with an Ethernet network card is required. Connect as below.
1) Connect one end of a “straight” CAT5\6 patch lead to the management PCs Ethernet port.
2) Connect the other end to patch lead to the dedicated switch port labelled “PoE Managed”.
3) Ensure both PC and switch are powered up.
2.2 Software Requirements
The PCs recommended browser versions are below.
1) IE10 or higher
2) Chrome
Set Up Network Connection
Before being able to gain access to the Web interface, set-up the management PCs IP address.
1) The switch does not have DHCP, so set the management PC’s IP address statically!
2) Set the PC for the same network as the switches default 192.168.1.200 and 255.255.255.0.
3) Our example setting is 192.168.1.92 and subnet 255.255.255.0

3.1 Set Static IP address for the Management PC
Operation steps (Windows 7 as example) ：
Step 1:
Click the Windows <start> button (bottom left) to
open the <start> menu, select “control panel”.
Double click the “network connection” icon, then
double click the “local connection” icon.
The “local Area Connection Status” window is
displayed (right).
Step 2:
Click <properties> button, to open the "Local Area
Connection Property" window (right).

Step 3:
Select "Internet protocol (TCP/IP), click <properties>
to enter the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties”
window (right)
Select the option “Use the following IP address” and
input an IP address (an arbitrary value between
192.168.1.1~ 192.168.1.254, except 192.168.1.200!)
in our example we use 192.168.1.92 and subnet
mask 255.255.255.0
Click "OK" to save the configuration.
Note: Default gateway and DNS server address
details are not essential. Leave empty unless you
have such details for your network.
3.2 Confirm the Network Connection via Ping Command
Operation Steps as below:
Step1:
Click the Windows <Start> button (bottom left) to
enter <Start> menu, select <Run> and the
Command dialogue box opens (right).
Type CMD and click <Ok> to open a DOS prompt
(below)
Step2:
Type ping 192.168.1.200 and press enter.
You should receive four lines of “Reply from
192.168.1.200…” as per example on the right.
If you receive “Request timed out” then go back to
the start of this section and recheck the patch lead
between your PC and switch as well as the PCs IP
address being set correctly!

3.3 Cancel the Proxy Server
If the management PC is normally used on a company or corporate network and needs to use a WEB
proxy server to gain Internet access, then you may need to turn off the WEB proxy service setting
before trying to access the switches web page! Follow the below to confirm:
Step1:
Open your Internet Explorer browser, select
<Tool/Internet Option> to enter <Internet Options>
window (right) and click the “Connections” tab.
Step2:
Click in <Internet Options> window, and then click
<LAN Setting> button for the dialogue box on the
right
Step3:
Check if the “Use a proxy server for your LAN” option is selected. If selected, please deselect the
option. Then click <OK> button.
This completes the management PC setting up procedure.

Login and Start
Open the management PCs Internet Explorer browser. In the address bar type http://192.168.1.200
and press enter.
You should be prompted for the login ID and password – defaults below

Input Administrator’s account and password, press Enter, and click <Login in>.
Below main screen should be displayed.

PoE Manager
Users can set global PoE parameters as well as PoE parameters per interface port. They can also
view the PoE status of the entire switch and individual ports.
PoE Setting
Function
Set the output PoE power of the entire switch.
Procedure
1. Set <Power Provided>. You can lower the default maximum PoE budget of
the switch if required. The default value is based on switch type.
2. Set <Overload Limit>. Limit the percentage that is allowed over and above
that set by the <Power Provided> value. The value must be less than 10%.
3. Set <Reserved Rate>. Input the reserved amount that is taken from the
preset <Power Provided> value. The value ranges from 0 to 100%.
The switch supports a reserved power function for reliability. The actual value of
input power the switch divides to the PoE interfaces is equal to the value of
<Power Provided> minus the <Reserved Rate>. If the value of required input
power of the switch exceeds this value, the reserved power will be divided to
each port as further demand increases.
4. Click <OK> button to save the configuration.
Total Power Status
Function
View the real-time input and output power of the switch
Parameter
<Consumed Power>: The total power currently being drawn by all PoE interfaces.
<Remaining>: The remaining PoE power available, excluding <Reserved> power.
<Reserved>: The actual reserved power of the switch.
The value is equal to the value of <Power Provided> minus <Remaining>.
<Provided>: The preset input power set for the switch by the previous <Power
Provided> setting.
Port Status and Control
Function
Set the output PoE power and priority of each downlink RJ-45 port.
Procedure
1. Set the <On/Off> button of <Port> to enable/disable it.
2. Set <Priority>. Set PoE priority for the interface - Low/Middle/High.
Ports of lower priority will be shutdown first when overall switch power budget is
not enough to power all ports – starting with the higher port numbers first!
3. Set <Power Limit>. Enter the maximum output power of the interface.
The value ranges from 0 to 30W.
4. Click <OK> to save the configuration.
5. View the real-time PoE consumption of each port under <Power
Consumed>.

System Management
Users can change the IP address and login password of the web system, view system information
and restore factory default values remotely through the web GUI.
Set IP
Function
Set the IP address of the switch.
Procedure
1. Click <Set IP>.
2. Set <IP Address >. Default value: 192.168.1.200.
3. Set <Subnet Mask>. Default value: 255.255.255.0.
4. Set <Default Gateway>. The default gateway the switch linking with. Default
value: 192.168.1.1.
5. Click <OK> button to save the configuration.
Change Password
Function
Set the login password.
Procedure
1. Click <Change Password>.
2. Input <Current Password>. Default value: admin.
3. Input <New Password> and <Confirm New Password>.
4. Click <OK> button to save the configuration.
Factory Default

Function
Restore the switch to factory default values.
Procedure
1. Click <Factory Default >.
2. Click <OK> button and wait for 10s, the system will refresh automatically.
Device Information
Function
View the IP address, MAC address and software version of the switch.
Procedure
1. Click <Device Info> and view the device information, including IP Address,
Mac Address and Software Version.
User Timeout
If users do not perform any operations on the Web system GUI for a long time, your account will be
logged out and the login page displayed.
The auto-log out interval time is 5 minutes.
If you need to continue operations, please log in again.
Logging-out Web System
To maintain security for the switch, please log out of the Web system immediately after finishing any
configuration changes.
Users can log out of the Web system in either of the following ways:
Click “×” on the top right corner of the page to close the browser.
Click “Exit” on the top right corner of the page of Web system.
