01. The problem
Nowadays, food waste is one of the most relevant and
underestimated problems. If food waste were country,
it would be the third largest source of greenhouse
gas emissions. Food waste also burdens waste
management systems, exacerbates food insecurity and
is major contributor to climate change, biodiversity
loss and pollution.
An average household spends nearly $2,000 year
on food that will be thrown away and wasted. But
this is not the only problem! Studies show that 1 out of
2 refrigerators has an above-average proliferation of
mold and bacteri, which can cause contamination
and possible risks to our health. Look at the numbers
to better understand the problem!

On average, person wastes
74 kg of food each year. 20%
of food ends up in the trash.
An average household wastes
31.9% of the food it buys. The
annual cost of food waste
reaches $240 billion.
Food waste is responsible for
10% of global CO2 emissions-
more than 3 billion tons.
Bacteri and molds proliferate
inside about 1 in 2 fridges,

02. How it works
Shelfy is the smart device that fights food waste
starting with your refrigerator: it extends the shelf life
of food in the refrigerator, reduces circulating bacteri
and odors by breaking down pollutants responsible
for ripening fruits and vegetables thanks to innovative
photocatalytic technology, with no filters to change.
It is equipped with temperature sensor and
refrigerator door opening-closing detection algorithm
to help you limit energy consumption.

Shelfy can be placed horizontally or vertically
anywhere in the refrigerator: in the crisper (i.e., the fruit
and vegetable drawer), on the door, or on the shelves,
depending on the space and type of refrigerator.
To ensure greater eectiveness, place it near fruits and
vegetables without obstructing airflow.
We recommend using one product per 300 liters
(internal volume of standard-sized refrigerator).
04. Placement and
modes

15
→Shelfy User Guide
Shelfy has 3 modes of use:

05. Maintenance
Shelfy has washable filter that, if maintained properly,
can last up to 5 years. Maintenance is very simple: all
you have to do is remove the filter to wash it under
running water and wipe the shells with freshly
dampened cloth to remove any remaining dirt.
Tips for thorough cleaning:
Shelfy Photocatalysis Filter Kit → remove the filter,
taking care to take it from the gasket and not touch
it to the surface with your hands. Wipe the shell with
damp cloth and if the dirt is persistent use mild
detergent and let it dry.
Techunit Shelfy → check that Shelfy is turned o.
Helping yourself with Q-tip, remove any dust residue
from the LEDs and fan, use cloth to clean the USB
port. Do not get any liquids inside the fan and LEDs.

17
→Shelfy User Guide
Filter → wash it under running water at least 1 time per
month, following this procedure:
1. Take the filter from the edges and handle it with
clean gloves/hands.
2. Run the filter under running water, taking care to
clean each side for at least 10 seconds.
3. Remove excess water by gently draining the filter.
4. Place the filter on clean cloth and leave it until it
is completely dry. We recommend that you let the
filter dry under sunlight.
5. Take the filter, again with clean gloves/hands, and
put it back inside the product.

06. Charging
In our ongoing eorts to promote sustainability, we
have made the decision to provide you with only
USB-A/USB-C cable, not including the power supply.
This choice allows us to significantly reduce our
environmental impact by avoiding the production of
thousands of chargers. We are sure that many of you
already have numerous unused chargers at home!
To ensure optimal charging of your Shelfy follow the
instructions:
• Shelfy should only be charged vi power supply
with Class 2 or LPS output;
• Recommended power supply output voltage: 5.0V;
nominal, 5.5 V max;
• Current drawn while charging: 2.5 A max;
• Battery voltage: 3.6 V nominal 4.2 V max;
• Battery capacity: 10400 mAh nominal.
