Connecting to the device
There are two different ways to connect to the device, one over a network switch and a DHCP server,
one point-to-point using a computer.
Connecting to the device via network switch
This is the recommended way of connecting to the device if there is a DHCP server in place at the time
of setup, if many devices need to be configured, if they are pre-installed in hard-to-reach locations or if
there is no available power outlet close by.
The VuStream 150 device can be configured over a Web GUI with a browser. To configure the device via
an existing network switch you will need the following components:
✓PC with available network port
✓Network cable
✓Layer-2 Network Switch
✓DHCP Server
1) Connect the VuStream 150 and your PC with the network cable to the existing network switch.
2) The VuStream 150 will receive an IP address via the existing DHCP server.
If the VuStream 150 does not receive an IP address from the already existing DHCP server, the
VuStream 150 can be reached via the IP address 192.168.10.150.
3) Use the VuStream 150 Device Finder
software to locate the device on the
network.
Please note, for firmware older than V2.8.0
use Device Finder 2.9.0. For firmware V2.8.0
and newer use Device Finder 2.9.4.
4) Enter the credentials to log in to manage
the device. Default login credentials are:
Username: admin
Password: vuwall
If you intend to use this encoder on your network, you will need to set a permanent IP address for the
device (Network section, User Guide page 6).

Connecting to the device via point-to-point
Use this alternative way if there is no DHCP server in place at the time of setup, or if a very limited
number of devices need to be configured.
The VuStream150 device can be configured over a Web GUI with a browser. To configure the device via
point-to-point connection, make sure to have the following components:
✓PC with available network port
✓Network cable
✓1x VuStream150 12v power adapter
For the initial configuration, follow the steps below to configure the device in point-to point method.
5) On the PC, configure the available network port IP
address to an address of the same subnet as the
factory setting of the device. (example:
192.168.10.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
6) Connect a straight network cable from the PC to the
CAT OUT port of the device and connect power.
7) On the PC, launch a browser and enter the IP
address of the device to
connect to the WebGUI page of the
device (Default factory
address is 192.168.10.150).
8) Enter the credentials to log in to manage
the device. Default login credentials are:
Username: admin
Password: vuwall
If you intend to use this encoder on your network, you will need to set a permanent IP address for the
device (Network section, User Guide page 6).

Viewing the stream
Use this URL format to access the stream:
•MainStream: rtsp://username:password@<IP Address>:554/S1
See following tips on how to use these URL in VLC Media Player, TRx and VuWall2.
Viewing stream in VLC Media Player
9) Generated streams from the encoder can be viewed
with VLC media player. Launch “VLC Media Player” on
the system destined to view the stream.
10) Click “Media” > “Open Network Stream”
11) At this time, you will see the following page.
Enter the network URL.
e.g.:rtsp://admin:[email protected]68.30.150:554/S1
12) Then click the “Play” button to finally view the stream.

13) To check for detailed information of the
stream, you can select in the VLC menu
“Tools” -> “Codec Information”
Viewing multicast stream using VLC Media Player
By default, you will view a unicast stream session in VLC. If you wish to benefit of multicast to effectively
distribute the stream to multiple viewing endpoints on the network.
This will require an appropriate network configured for
multicast distribution of streams. If you do not have this
setup, the multicast stream fill flood to all network devices
causing the network to become slow and unreliable.
To force Multicast in VLC Media Player, you will need to
enable “Force multicast RTP via RTSP” in VLC Media Player
Preferences -> Show “All” settings -> “Input / Codecs” ->
“Demuxers” -> “RTP/RTSP”. Click on “Save” and close VLC
Media Player. Multicast will be used on next launch.
