digital terrestrial receiver and personal video recorder DVR 160. All the safety and operating
instructions should be read before DVR 160 is operated. Please keep the manual in a fixed place

<Attention when installing the product>
The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
Install on an even plane.
Don’t install in the cold or under direct sunlight.
Leave a minimum 10cm gap all around the product.

1.1 Features
With the new DVR 160 enjoy the convenience of receiving
the digital Cable broadcasts
and digitally
recording of the programming on its hard disk. You may also record two shows at the same time or
watch one while recording the other.
Enjoy Instant recording and slow motion playback.
It doesn't
get any better than this.
The DVR 160 is a Digital Cable Receiver, which receives the digital cable broadcasts from both,
free-to-view and pay channels. You can enjoy the various TV and radio programs. It is also a
personal video recorder that
makes it simple to control live TV (pause, rewind, forward, and slow
motion, etc) and record favorite programs on the built-in hard disk.
The simple connection and easy-of-use operation, user-friendly three-dimensional OSD, highest
quality audio output with Dolby AC-3 Digital Audio, and multi-channel screen are all designed to
enrich the user experience.
Furthermore, DVR 160 provides the enhanced Electronic Program Guide (EPG), various utilities,
and channel change effect modes.

Switches the product on/off.

Changes the TV/Radio channel Up/Down.
3. VOL ◄/►
Increases or decreases TV/Radio volume level or change the value of an item in menu mode.
4. OK
Selects a menu or confirm the user’s action and display the channel list during watching a TV.
5. MENU
Displays the menu OSD.
6. EXIT
Exits from the current menu or cancel the current operation in menu state.
7. CARD Slots (CONAX Only)
Insert One smart card.
8. CI Slots (*Optional)
Inserts two CI modules.
9. LED

STANDBY: Lights in red to indicate DVR 160 is in Standby mode. This light is turned off when
the product is in operation.

1.3.2 Rear Panel
1. CABLE IN, OUT
Connect cable out1 to cable in2 via a loop cable.
2. VCR SCART
Connect this connector to your VCR via a SCART cable.
3. TV SCART
Connect this connector to your TV via a SCART cable.
4. SVHS
Connect S-VHS to S-VHS video input of your TV or VCR via a S-VHS cable.
5. USB
Connect USB to your PC to copy MP3 file on PC.
6. AUDIO L/R
Connect AUDIO L/R to the matching Audio Inputs of your TV/VCR via a RCA cable.
7. VIDEO
Connect VIDEO to video input of your TV or VCR via a RCA cable.
8. DIGITAL AUDIO
Connect DIGITAL AUDIO to the audio input of your amplifier via a coaxial cable.
9. S/PDIF
Connect S/PDIF to the audio input of your amplifier via an optical cable.
10. RF IN
VHF and UHF antenna connected RF IN.
11. TV OUT
VHF and UHF antenna connected RF OUT.
12. POWER
Turn the DVR 160 On/Off.

Fast Rewind/Forward ( )
To rewind/forward the playback during the recorded
file playback. Whenever you press , the forward
playback speed increases by 4 steps (x 2, x 4, x 8,
x16). And whenever you press , the rewind
playback speed increases by 4 steps (x 1, x 2, x 4,
x8). If you press the button in the progress bar state,

resumes to the playback with normal
speed after 20 seconds backward/forward rewind.

To show the progress bar. If you press the button in
the trick mode or paused state, DVR 160
resumes
to the playback with normal speed.

To pause the playback.
Slow Motion Playback ( )
To change the playback speed into the slow motion
mode.

To record the current channel or show the record
menu in the recording state.

Whenever you press the button, the repeat mode
changes sequentially such as a specified block

To cut the desired section from the recorded file.
Whenever you press the button, the Picture in
Picture(PIP) mode changes sequentially such as
showing the PIP on the screen→changing the size
of the PIP screen→the PIP mode Off.
Bookmark ( )
To add or delete the current position as a bookmark.
Up to 64 bookmarks for one recorded file can be
set up.

The remote control can be used at a distance of up to 7 to 10 meters, and at an angle of 30
degrees from the remote control led.

1.4.2 Universal Remote Control
1. Programming your device (MANUAL)
Configure your devices ( , , ) with 3-digit code.
1) Press one of the device buttons ( , , ) you want to program and OK ( ) together
and hold both for about 2 seconds.
2) Release the device and OK buttons. Now the device button LED is on.
3) From Brand List, enter the right 3-digit code and then press and release OK
and then the device button blinks 3 times and turns off.
4) If you enter wrong code and press OK, the device button LED will remain on after blink one time.
2. Programming your device (AUTOMATIC)
Configure your devices (TV, VCR, DVD) automatically.
1) Turn on the device ( , , ) you want to program on the universal remote control.
2) Press one of the device buttons ( , , ) you want to program and OK ( ) together and
hold both for about 2 seconds.
3) Release the device and OK buttons. Now the device button LED is on.
4) Press and release CH+( ) or CH-( ) repeatedly until the device turns off.
5) Press and release OK button and then the device button blinks 3 times and turns off.
3. Volume Punch Function
You can control [ ], [ ] & [ ] of TV when you use other devices.
1) Press one of the device buttons ( , , ) you want to program and OK ( ) together
and hold both for about 2 seconds.
2) Release the device and OK buttons. Now the device button LED is on.
3) Press and release [vol+] button
4) Press and relase the device button you want to use the Volume Punch function with. The device
button bliks 3 times and turns off.
5) If you want to stop this function, do the same steps from 1) to 4) again.

4. Factory Default
You can reset the configuration of the universal remote to the point of purchase.
1) Press one of the device button ( , , , ) and OK together and hold both for about 2
seconds.
2) Press “0” button 3 times (“000”).
3) After entering “000”, the device button blinks two times and then turns off making factory
default.

This chapter describes how to connect the product to your home entertainment system. Choose
the most appropriate procedure depending on your environments.
: If you encounter with any problems or have any questions during connecting the
product, please contact your local product distributor.
2.1 Connecting a TV & VCR
1. Connecting a TV
1) Connect the TV cable to the CABLE IN of the product.
2) Connect the RF-IN of TV to the CABLE OUT of the product.
3) Connect other CABLE IN to other CABLE OUT of the product via the loop-through cable.
4) Connect the Video and Audio of TV to the VIDEO and AUDIO L/R of the product.

2. Connecting a TV and VCR with a Scart Cable
1) Connect the TV cable to CABLE IN of the product.
2) Connect the RF-IN of VCR to the CABLE OUT of the product.
3) Connect other CABLE IN to other CABLE OUT of the product via the loop-through cable.
4) Connect the RF-OUT of VCR to the RF-IN of TV.
5) Connect the Video and Audio of TV to the VIDEO and AUDIO L/R of the product.
6) Connect the TV Scart of TV to TV SCART with fully featured Scart cable.
2.2 Connect the Optical S/PDIF
If you watch a program encoded by a Dolby Digital, you can enjoy the higher quality sound of the
Dolby Digital audio
.
Connect the optical S/PDIF(or Coaxial Digital Output) to Dolby digital decoder or
digital
television.

2.3 Connect the USB
Connect the USB to your PC to copy MP3 file from PC.
2.4 Starting Up
1. Connect the power cord of the product to a power outlet
and press the “Power” button
on
the
rear panel to turn the product on.
2. The first time you power up the product, it will display the initial screen, then some parameters
for system configuration should be set. Refer to the following chapter for detailed information
about the basic settings.

If you use the product for the first time after connecting, you have to perform basic settings. Once
the setup procedure is finished successfully, you can start watching TV or listening to radio.
Turn on your TV and the product. Follow the instruction on the screen.
Press the “MENU” button to save the previous input information and exit the basic settings. If you
exit the basic settings without fully completing the setting procedures, you may not watch any
broadcasting normally.
3.1 Language
You can select Menu Language, Audio, and the Subtitled Language.
1. Select the appropriate language from the list using the “

” button.
2. Press the “

” buttons to move cursor into other language items.
3. Press the “Red” button to move to the next setting.
