The DAC204 is a stereo 24 bit / 192kHz D/A co vert-
er which supports the followi g co versio s:
•AES/EBU or S/PDIF o RCA to a alog
•AES/EBU or S/PDIF o Tosli k to a alog
•USB to a alog
•USB to AES/EBU o XLR, RCA, BNC
There also is the DAC205 model available which does
ot have the USB related features.

For MacOS systems the DAC204 des ot eed a y
USB driver. For Wi dows systems the appropriate
USB driver has to be dow loaded from our website at
the INT204 dow loads page. www.weiss.ch

The DAC204 operates either with the RCA i put, the
optical Tosli k i put or the USB i put. Select the i put
with the appropriate switch. The data format ca be
either AES/EBU or S/PDIF. The USB i put also sup-
ports DSD64 a d DSD128 streams.

Co ect your preamplifier or power amplifier to the
output co ectors of the DAC204.
Use either the symmetrical (bala ced) li es (XLR) or
the asymmetrical (u bala ced) li es (RCA). It is also
possible to use both outputs simulta eously.
If the XLR outputs are used to co ect to a u bal-
a ced i put the make sure that XLR pi 1 is used for
the grou d co ectio a d XLR pi 2 is used as the
hot sig al. XLR pi 3 must be left ope .
If there is ’t a y sig al at the DAC204 outputs check
the power switch / LED a d also make sure the sam-
pli g freque cy is i the ra ge supported. See the
Tech ical Data sectio for details.

The output level ca be set with the two switches i
10dB steps. Four differe t output levels ca be select-
ed.

The USB i put sig al is treated as follows:
- Sampli g freque cies betwee 44.1 a d 192 kHz are
passed u altered
- Sampli g freque cies of 352.8 or 384 kHz are
dow sampled to half of their value, i.e. to 176.4 or 192
kHz
- DSD64 or DSD128 sig als are co verted to PCM with
the parameters accordi g to the setti gs of the
switches. I.e. a sampli g freque cy of 88.2 or 176.4
kHz ca be selected. Plus a word-le gth of 16 or 24
Bit. These selectio switches may make se se if a
exter al D/A Co verter is co ected to the digital
outputs of the DAC204. If o ly the i ter al D/A Co -
verter is used we recomme d to set the switches to
176.4 kHz a d 24 Bit.
