installation, use, and maintenance.

This plugshould be accessible atall times.
To reduce the risk of electrical shock, ALWAYS disconnect the machine BEFORE cleaningor maintaining
the equipment. Do notattempt toinstall, service, or modifythis machine. Improper use byother than

DESCRIPTION
The ice cubes maker is the resultof years of experience in thisfieldand the developmentof ahigh
technologyfactory.
Main Features
• Storage bin made of polyester strengthened with glass fibre or ABS
• Stock bin made of high resistance plastic materials

• Heavydutydoor (pat.) exceptAGS 836/837/838/839 and 850/851.

HOW ITWORKS
When the machine is switched on the compressor and the agitator motor start, the water entryvalve opens
and allows water intothe production pan up toalevel where the float makes amicro-switch cut the current
to the valve and so stop water enteringthe tray.The compressor, controlled bycapillaries produces enough
cold in the evaporator to graduallyfreeze the water around its “fingers”.
When the ice so formed reaches the proper size the paddles of the agitator are stopped and its motor,
suspended, works the end of cycle micro-switch.
This micro-switch connectsthe relaythatstartsthe cam motor. When the micro-switch has fallen, opens the
hot gas valve and stops the agitator motor. The compressor continues workingfor another 20”, then stops,
and the agitator motor is connected. The cam motor starts to move downwards, makingpart of the surplus
water flow to the drain, and droppingthe ice cubes, pushed bythe ejection plate into the storage bin.
The pan eventuallygets back to its initial position and so starts another production cycle.
Once the storage bin is full the pan stops in its downward movement as ittouches the cubes, so workingthe
safetystop micro-switch and switchingoff the machine. Production will start again as soon as the cubes
which detained it move or are removed.

DELIVERY & UNPACKING
Upon receipt, thoroughlyinspect thepackingcontainer. Ifthere appearstobedamagetothe container contact theshipper
immediately. Unpack unit in the presence of deliverypersonnel notingany damage onthe waybill.
Whirlpool packingbears the “Green Point” on allmodelsaccordingto the European Directives on
management of Packagingand Waste Disposal.
Be sure toinclude model nameand serialnumber on allclaims. Serialnumber is located inthe following
three places:
Packing
There is a label stick onto the cardboard packingbearingthis serial number (1).
Machine body
On the machine’s rear panel (1).
Rating plate and serial number
WARNING: DO NOTLEAVEPACKING MATERIALS(PLASTIC BAGS, CARDBOARD BOXES, ETC.) WITHIN
REACH OF CHILDREN.
Located atthe back of the machine.
Water cooled machines:check thatthe drainage
hose atthe back of the machine is in good
condition.
Verifythatthe installation kitis inside the bin, and
has the followingpieces: scoop, 3/4’ water hose,
two small filters and user manual.

INSTALLATION
Theicecubemaker isdelivered on asmallwoodenpalletandisprotected withacardboard box and
packaging. Loosen the cardboard box bycuttingthestraps,then lift vertically.
After having removed the packaging,make surethemachine iscomplete.Ifindoubt donot use it and go to
thedistributor who sold itto you.
This operation hasto be performed with the woodenbase structurefirmlyplaced on the ground. All packaging
elements(plasticbags, cartons,etc..)mustnot beleft atchildren'sreach,sincetheyareapotentialsourceof
danger.
Placethe machinewhereitisto be installed, and verify,usingalevelcontrol,thatthe machine is in a
horizontal position.
CAUTION:
Ifthegapbetween the back of the machineand the wall oftheroom/bar isnot sufficient,or ifitisgoingto
receivehot airfrom anothermachine,westronglyadvise,incaseof notbeingabletochangethelocation of
themachine,to INSTALL A WATER-COOLEDMACHINE.
Bearinmind the previousconsiderations ifthe premiseswherethe machinesis located are verydusty,or
smoky.Ifpossiblemake arrangementssothatthemachine maybemoved front-wisein orderto carryout
maintenance.
Recommended Placementof Unit
AGS machines are intended to operate at room temperature between 5°C and 43°C and withwater
temperature rangingbetween 5°C and 35°C. Below recommended minimumtemperatures, ice cubes will be
un-stick correctlyand mayform aslab or block of ice. Operation carried out over maximum recommended
temperatures can result in shorter compressor life and decreased production.
Air-cooled units receive air input via front of machine and expel air through rear grill.
IMPORTANT!
Iffrontand/or rear ventilation is inadequate, obstructed, or inclose proximitytoother heat producing
machinery, USE OF AWATER-COOLEDUNIT is stronglyrecommended.
Water inlettube shouldnot pass near heat sources:water enteringthe machine should be as cold as
possible, but always above 5ºC.
The above mentioned also applies shouldunit be installed in an area where dust,smoke, or other airborne
pollutants maybe present.Units—especiallyair-cooled—should not be installed in kitchens. To facilitate

access to condenser and/or water pressure valve, allow sufficient space at front of the machine. Be sure that
flooringis firm and even.
Water and Drainage
Water qualityinfluences ice hardness, flavour, and qualityas wellas condenser life.
Keep in mind the followingpoints:
a) WATER IMPURITIES: Major impurities are eliminated byfilters provided. Filters shouldbe cleaned
regularlydependingon purityof water. For minor impurities we recommend installinga5-micron filter
(Provided with the unit: Part # 207499).
b) WATER WITH MORE THAN500 PPM: Ice willbe less hard and tend to adhere. Limedepositsmay
impede proper function. Inwater cooled models, condenser obstruction islikely.Installation of ahigh
qualitywater softener is recommended.
c) CHLORINATED WATER:Chlorine taste can be avoided byinstallinga carbon filter (Part # 207509).
(NOTE: You may encounter water with all aforementioned properties.)
d) PURIFIEDWATER: A 10% reduction in overall production mayoccur.
Connecting Unit To Water Source
•Use 1.3 m. flexible tube (withtwofilters attached) provided. NOTE: We advise usingasingle faucet
fixture .
•Water pressure should be between 0.7 and 6 Kgs/cm2. (10/85 Psi.)
•If water pressure exceeds these values, installation of appropriate corrective units will be necessary.
•Itisimportant thatwater tubingdoes notcomeclose to or in contact with anyheat sources or heat
generated byunit as this could decrease production.
Connecting Unit To Drain (Water Cooled Models)
•Drain must be located atleast 150mm. below machine level. Draintube musthave an inner diameter of
30mm. with a minimumgradientof 3 cmper metre.
Electricalconnection
• Unit is provided with a 1.5 mcord and Schucko socket.

•Itisrecommended to install aswitch and adequate fuses. Nominal voltageand intensityare indicated on
ratingplateas well as on this manual'stechnical pages. Voltage fluctuations greater than 10% can cause
problems or prevent machine from starting.
• Line to base of plugmust have a minimum section=2.5 mm2.
• Ensure voltage indicated on ratingplate corresponds to thatof mains supply.
Machine levelling
Place machine where it is required, and level the machine ONCE all four legs have been screwed on
Space requirements
There should be a150 mmgap on sides and top of the machine so as toallow air to circulate and prevent
heatbuild-up.
Float (buoy) valve level
This valve isfactoryset, but mayneed to be adjusted ifmains water pressure is veryhighor verylow.To
do so, loosen the two small screwswhich connectthe micro-switch to the steel support. Move micro-switch
as required and tighten screws. Water levelmustbe about 5mmbelow the evaporator coil to, otherwise
there maybe difficultyin releasingcubes in winter.
Notethat if mains pressure issubjectto largefluctuations, it willbe difficulttomaintainaconstant water
level, in this case itmaybe advisable to install a pressure regulator on the water mains line.
IMPORTANT!
Supplysocketmust be properlyearthed. Be sure to check standard for countrywhere appliance is goingto
be installed.

OPERATION
Preliminary Check
a) Is machine levelled?
b) Are voltage and frequencyof main supplythe same as indicated on ratingplate?
c) Is drainage system functioning?
d) Is air circulation and roomtemperature adequate?(Air-cooled models)

ATTENTION: Check that voltage and mains frequencyare the same as in the ratingplate.
Starting up
Once preliminarycheck has been completed (ventilation, connections, temperature, etc.), proceed as follows:
1) Open water faucet. Check for leaks.
2) Plugmachine into electricitymains supply.
3) Ensure that there are no strange vibrations or scrapingsounds
4) Check that the water curtain moves freely
6) After 10 minutes, check that the water bin has no leaks on the maximum level overflow.
7) Atthe cycle’s end, there should be frost formed on the compressor inlet tube except for the last 50
mm.
IMPORTANT!
Be sure voltage and frequencyof main supplycorrespond to indicated levels on ratingplate.
ADVISETHE FINAL USERON MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES WHICH ARENOT INCLUDEDIN WARRANTY,AS
WELL AS THOSE BREAKDOWNS CAUSED BY NEGLECTOF PROPERMAINTENANCE PROCEDURES.

ADJUSTMENTS
Condenser water valve pressostat
(UP TO WHP AGS 841 WATER COOLED)
This pressostat controls highpressure byopeningand closingthe condenser water valve. Differential is a
fixed 1Kg/cm2 (14 Psi). The valve closes at 16 Kg/cm2 (228 Psi.) which isequivalent to awater exit
temperature of 38ºC. belowthispressure it willbe difficult to unstick the cubes in the defrostingstage.
Above this pressure, compressor life and ice production are both reduced. Pressure can be increased by
turningthe small screw clockwise. A full turn is equivalent to about 1.5 Kg/cm2.
Water Pressure Control Valve
FROM AGS 843 (ONLY ON WATER COOLED MACHINES)
•Highpressure should be maintained at16-17 bar (228-240 Psi) must be maintained which corresponds
to a water temperature of 40°C ( exittemperature).
•When temperature exceeds 32°C, pressure and temperature of water atexit increase.
REGULATION:Water pressure and temperature can be decreased byregulatingscrew clockwise.

Pressure Control
Fan pressostat (air condensation)
Pressure Control operates on highpressure bystartingand/stoppingfan. Differentialis fixed. (1Kg/cm2 or
14 Psi.) Cut-off pressure must be 16 Kg/cm2(228 Psi) Low pressure values maycause gearbox
malfunction. Pressure values higher than 16 Kg/cm2 mayshorten compressor life and diminish ice
production.
Pressure can be regulated byrotatingscrew on Pressure Control Valve (clockwise toincrease pressure).
One rotation equals 1.5 Kg/cm2.
Safety pressostat
This Securitydevice trips when discharge pressure is too
high. Pressure mightexceed the limitwhen:
a) Air circulation is notsufficient, room temperature is
too high or condenser is dirty(air condensation models).
b) There isnot enoughwater in the system or water temperature is
too high (water-cooled models).

WARNING: Unit should always be disconnected during maintenance/cleaning procedures.
Water Condenser
1) Disconnect machine.
2) Close water faucet.
3) Disconnect water entry/exit from condenser.
4) Prepare a solution of 50% phosphoric acid in distilled water.
5) Distribute solution through condenser. (Solution is more effective at35°-40°C).
WARNING!
DONOT USE HYDROCHLORICACID
Air Condenser
1) Disconnect machine.
2) Close water faucet.
3) Clean condenser usinga vacuum cleaner, brush or lowpressure air.
Removing scale (lime) fromice production mechanisms
1) Close the water inlet faucet.
2) Remove lid fromtop of machine bypullingupwards from the rear partof the lid. Some force is required
for this itmaybe better to prise itopen with a flatscrewdriver.
