Washer
For best washing results and
energy savings, sort the laundry
carefully.
1. Sort the Laundry into loads.
l Group the laundry into loads that
can be washed and dried together.
See the Laundry Guide for informa-
tion and samples of typical loads.
l Try to mix large and small items for
best movement in the washer.
2. Measure Detergent; Add to
Washer Basket.
l See detergent information on
page 6 and in Section IV of the Laun-
dry Guide.
0 Add dry bleach or water condi-
tioner [not fabric softener) if used.
Follow the package directions
carefully.
3. Pour liquid Blpach into the Dis-
penser Before loading Washer.
l See Page 14 and the “Laundry Aids”
section of the laundry Guide for more
information.

l Spread the load evenly [Don’t put
all the towels on one side and a few
wash cloths on the other.) An unbal-
anced load can cause the washer to
shake during spinning.
l Load without packing so items can
move freely for best cleaning and
least wrinkling.
5. Add Diluted Fabric Softener to
the Dispenser.
. DO NOT ADD FABRIC SOFTENER TO
THE WASH. Fabric softeners can com-
bine with soap or detergent to form
greasy stains on fabrics

Touch one FABRIC Selector and
the washer IS deslgned to do the rest [If
you don’t touch one, the washer IS
designed to start In REG HEAVY)
Each FABRIC Selection IS
designed to wash a certain way. To
change the way a selection washes,
you can use the WASH OPTIONS and
RINSE OPTIONS.
The WASH OPTIONS Include a
SOAK CYCLE, a SUPER WASH you can
use two ways SHORT WASH, EXTRA
SHORT, HOT WASH and COLD WASH to
shorten washing times and change
+~asi\ water temperature are also handy.
RINSE OPTIONS Include WARM
RINSE (to change from the automatic
cold rinse) and 2nd RINSE Then, there’s
RINSE SPIN, for a rinse only, and SPIN
ONLY for the few times you might want
to drain and spin out water

1. Set the LOAD SIZE SELECTOR.
l Select the water level that matches
the size of the looa See page 6 for

2. Move switch to POWER ON.
l The REG HEAVY Indicator Light will
come on It shows that power ISon and

l You have eight seconds to touch o
selector [or to touch the H@LD Selector
for more time) If you do not:
~ The washer will flil with warm water
to the level shown on +he LOAD SIZE

Touch OPTION Selectors.
l If you did not touch a FABRIC
Selector, you have eight seconds after
the power ISturned on to touch optlop
selectors. The washer will select REG
HEAVY and odd the options you
selected.
The Electronic Controls are pre-set for
a warm wash and cold rinse in every
FABRIC SelectIon Change water
temperatures by touching Option
l If you did touch a FABRIC Selector,
you have eight seconds to touch the
option seleciors you want Every time
you touch one, you have eight seconds
to touch anoiher...UNLESS YOU TOUCH
SPIN ONLY. SPIN ONLY cancels all
selectlons and starts draining and spin-
ning right away [See page 13 )
l SOAK CYCLE will cancel any FAB-
RIC Selection touched before it.
l SUPER WASH can be added to any
FABRIC Selection Touch tt before the
FABRIC Selection
l Touching RINSE SPIN before the
washer starts will cancel all selections
except COLD WASH

only when the washer ISOFF, on HOLD,
or during the eight second selection

6. Ch anging a selection.
l Before the washer starts, touch an-
other selector That cancels the one you
don’t want. See page 7 for details.
l After the washer starts, move the
switch to POWER OFF
- Start back at Step 1
- Or, If you want to drain any water
before making new selectlons

2 Touch SPIN ONLY
3 Start at Step 1 when spinning
stops
7. HOLD and RUN Selectors.
l Touch HOLD if you want to stop the
washer for any reason, but want to start
it again where it left off
l Touch HOLD If you want more than
eight seconds to make selectlons
l Touch RUN to start the washer only
when It’s on HOLD.
POWER FAILURE. If the electricity
goes off or a fuse blows while the
washer is running, all selections
are canceled. See instructions on
page 7.
To Stop the Washer:
- During spin...touch HOLD or lift
the lid.
-Any time...touch HOLD or
switch to POWER OFF.

Important Detergent Information
Detergents and soaps clean
by loosening SOII, and by holding it or
the water so it drains away If not
enough detergent IS used, soli and

be softened. Use enough soap to

Washer
If you stop your washer by touch-
ing HOLD, you earl restart it by touching

End of the wash cycle:
l Move switch to POWER ON
l Touch SPIN ONLY to drain and spin.
l After the washer stops, again move
switch to POWER ON
l Touch RINSE SPIN to fill. rinse, drain
and spin the load
Filling for (or beginning of) the rinse
cycle:
l Move switch to POWER ON
l Touch RINSE SPIN to frnrsh filling or to
finrsh the rrnsing cycle
Using Selections
Together
Your washer has Electronrc Con-
trols that let many selections work
together for the kind of wash you want.
There are many possible combr-
natrons of selections .so many that
there isn’t room to tell about each com-
brnatron possible
The Indicator lights will tell you
what you need to know. If the Indicator
lrght glows when you touch a selector,
the Electronic Controls accept the
selection. If it does not glow, the Elec-
tronic Controls reject the selection.

glowing. When this happens, your
selection has been accepted. The
washer will use that selectron or
option while it IS operating
2. The ind/cotor light w//i giow, but

your second selection cancelled the
first. For example, if you touched
REG/ HEAVY and decide you want
PERM’T PRESS, lust touch PERM’T
PRESS. The REG /HEAVY Selection IS
cancelled and Its indicator light
goes off

Electronrc Controls are designed
to reject any option that shouldn’t be
used for the wash you selected. For
example, if you touched KNITSi
GENTLE, you won’t be able to get the
HOT WASH indicator light to glow.

there are details on which can and
can’t be used together.

Removing the Dispenser
l Put vour thumbs against the insIde
back as shown below
l Press back (toward the agitator) to
release the front of the dispenser
l With the dispenser pressed back, tilt
the front up. Gently slide the dispenser
out
l Wash with warm water only. Do not
use detergent to clean the dis-
penser. Fabric softener and
detergent can combine to form
sticky lumps.
l To replace the dispenser, fit it into the
opening Press dowr on the front edge
while pressing on the back.
