Upon arrival, inspect the delivery to ensure that it is complete and has not suffered any damage. If any transport
damageisvisible,donotacceptthedeliveryoronlyacceptitwithreservation.Recordthescopeofthedamageon the
transport documents/delivery note. Initiate the complain process. For all defects that are not discovered upon
delivery, be sure to report them as soon as they are recognized as damage claims must be filed within a certain

Lasersafetyclassification
Thelasersafetyclassindicatesthe riskpotentialbasedon thelevelof accessiblelaserradiation.
ThewidlaserC900 isa Class2 (US:classII) lasersystem.
Integratedlaser sourceofthe widlaserC900is aClass 4(US: classIV) lasersystem.
Class2 (US:class II)
TheaccessiblelaserradiationofClass2(US:classII)lasersystemsdoesnotposeanyhazardforthe
skin.Anyshort-termradiationoftheeyesalsoposesno riskduetothe low-leveloutput.Inthe event
of longer,moreintensive radiation,the eyeis protectedby the natural lidreflex.
ThewidlaserC900usesaClass2 (US:classII)pilot laser.Inordertoprevent irritation oftheeyes
duringoperation,theoperatorshouldnotlookdirectlyatthelaser source.
Diffusereflectionsofthepilotlaserare entirelyharmless.
Class4(US:classIV)
Highpoweredlasers(visibleor invisible)consideredtopresentpotentialacutehazardtotheeyeand
skinforboth direct(intrabeam)andscatter(diffused)conditions.Alsohave potentialhazard
considerationsforfire(ignition)andbyproduct emissionsfromtargetor processmaterials.
Itistheresponsibilityoftheoperatorof themachinetotakeappropriatemeasurementstoeliminate
anydangerssuchasfireorexplosionsthroughthelaserbeam.
When dealing withclass 4(US:class IV)laser follow the following precautions:
Atrainedlasersafetyofficerhasto beappointedtoevaluatepotentialhazardsandtoensurethatappropriate
controlmeasuresareimplemented.
Thelaser-controlledareashallbepostedwith appropriatewarningsignsor warninglamps.
Thelaser-controlledareashallbedefinedtocontainthelaserradiation.
Also,itmustbe protectedagainstunauthorizedaccess.
The operator ofclass4 lasersystemsalways hasto wear appropriatesafety glasses.
Anindicator (typicallya light)toprovidea warningoflaseremissioninadvanceof andduringtheemission
time;
Energysafetyclassification
ThewidlaserC900,requiresastableelectricalconnectionaccordingthefollowingspecifications,230v16A
50/60Hz.
Themachine´selectricalconnectionmustbegrounded.
Itisstrictlyforbiddento connectoroperatethemachineduringthunderstormsandanytypeofelectrical
instabilitymomentsor events.
Inthe electricalappliancemanufacturingindustry,thefollowingIEC protectionclassesaredefinedin IEC61140
andusedto differentiatebetweentheprotective-earthconnectionrequirementsofdevices.

According tothisclassification,the widlaser C900is aClass I product.
Theseappliancesmusthavetheirchassisconnected toelectricalearth(US:ground)byaseparateearth
conductor(coloredgreen/yellowinmost countries,greenintheUS,CanadaandJapan). The earthconnectionis
achievedwitha3-conductormainscable,typicallyending with3-prongACconnectorwhichplugsinto a
correspondingACoutlet.Thebasicrequirementisthatnosinglefailurecanresultindangerousvoltagebecoming
exposedsothatit might causeanelectricshockandthatif afaultoccursthesupplywillberemovedautomatically(this
issometimesreferredtoasADS=AutomaticDisconnectionofSupply).
Afaultintheappliancewhichcausesaliveconductortocontactthe casingwillcauseacurrenttoflowinthe
earthconductor.Iflargeenough,thiscurrentwilltripanover-current device(fuseorcircuitbreaker (CB)) and
disconnectthesupply.Thedisconnectiontimehasto be fastenough not toallowfibrillationtostartifapersonis in
contactwiththecasingatthetime.Thistime andthecurrentratinginturnsets amaximumearthresistance
permissible.Toprovidesupplementaryprotectionagainsthigh-impedancefaultsitiscommontorecommenda
residual-currentdevice (RCD)alsoknown asaresidualcurrentcircuitbreaker(RCCB),groundfaultcircuit interrupter

Safetyprecautions
Themachinemustonly beoperatedbytrainedand authorizedpersonnel.Itisthe dutyoftheoperator,tocheck
themachinebeforestartofworkforexternallyvisibledamageanddefects,andtoimmediatelyreportchangesthat
appear(includingbehaviorduringoperation)thataffectthe safety.Preparation,retooling,changeof workpiece,

andservice,thereplacementofthe safetycomponentsmustbeperformedimmediatelyaftercompletion of the
serviceandrepairactivities.Noworkingmethodsarepermittedthataffectthesafetyof the machine.
Itisabsolutelyforbidden foranyonewhois undertheinfluenceofdrugs,alcoholorreaction-impairing
medicationto workwith themachine.
Thescopesofcompetenceforthedifferentactivitiesin the scopeof operatingthemachinemustbeclearly
definedandobserved,sothatundertheaspectofsafetynounclearquestionsofcompetenceoccur.
Thisappliesinparticularto activitieson the electricequipment,whichmustonlybeperformedbyspecialexperts.

Class4laserradiationsuchasthatemittedbythewidlaserC900mayignite materialsor causeexplosions.
Amongothersitshouldbeensuredthat:
Parametersareselectedsothatthematerialdoesnot overheat.
The systemis monitoredif necessary.
Dustis extractedsafely.
Thereisnoaccumulationof anyflammableresiduesorremnantsintheworkspace.
Dependingon thematerialsbeingprocessedandthe parametersselected,lasercutting or engraving may
generategases,fumes,aerosolsor dust.Thetoxicityof such by-productsdependson thematerial.Theoperatoris
responsibleforensuringandmaintaininga suitableextraction systeminplaceandforcompliancewith therelevant
guidelinesinordertoprotectindividualsandtheenvironment.
Themachineisequippedwithan observationmaindoorismadeof laserresistingplastic.Inordernot todamage
it,itshouldonlybe cleanedwithcleanwaterandpossiblyalittledetergentifnecessary.Use asoftcloth in ordernotto
scratchthe surface.
ATTENTION
Benzene,alcohol,acetone,solventorsimilarcleaningagentswilldamagethelaserprotectionpolycarbonate,
whichmustbereplacedimmediately.
Scratches must also be avoided. The laser protection polycarbonate must be replaced immediately if it
becomesdamaged.
