1. General information
1. General information
The instrument described in the operating instructions has been designed and
manufactured using state-of-the-art technology. All components are subject
to stringent quality and environmental criteria during production. Our manage-
ment systems are certied to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
These operating instructions contain important information on handling the
instrument. Working safely requires that all safety instructions and work
instructions are observed.
Observe the relevant local accident prevention regulations and general safety
regulations for the instrument's range of use.
The operating instructions are part of the product and must be kept in the
immediate vicinity of the instrument and readily accessible to skilled personnel
at any time.
Skilled personnel must have carefully read and understood the operating
instructions prior to beginning any work.
The manufacturer's liability is void in the case of any damage caused by using
the product contrary to its intended use, non-compliance with these opera-
ting instructions, assignment of insuciently qualied skilled personnel or
unauthorised modications to the instrument.
The general terms and conditions contained in the sales documentation shall
apply.

2. Safety
WARNING!
Before installation, commissioning and operation, ensure that the
appropriate instrument has been selected in terms of measuring
range, design and specic measuring conditions.
Check the compatibility with the medium of the materials subjec-
ted to pressure!
In order to guarantee the measurement accuracy and long-term
stability specied, the corresponding load limits must be obser-
ved.
▶Non-observance can result in serious injury and/or damage to
property.
Further important safety instructions can be found in the individual
chapters of these operating instructions.
2.1 Intended use
These pressure gauges are used for measuring pressure in hazardous areas of
industrial applications.

2.2 Responsibility of the operator
The legibility of the marking must be observed during time in use but at least
during inspection periods of three years. If any harm of the legibility is found
please contact the manufacturer to renew the marking.
For the safety of the system, the operator is obliged to carry out an ignition source
and ignition hazard analysis. Refer to chapter 2.3 “Ignition hazards”.
The responsibility for classication of zones lies with the plant manager and not
the manufacturer/supplier of the equipment.

The materials used can be found in the instrument marking. See chapter 2.6
“Labelling / safety marks”.
On the wetted parts of the instrument, small residual amounts of the
adjustment medium (e.g. compressed air, water, oil) can adhere from
production.With increased requirements for technical cleanliness,
suitability for the application must be checked by the operator before
commissioning.
Liquid media with the property of changing the volume during solidi-
cation can damage the measuring system (e.g. water if it falls below
the freezing point).
2.4 Personnelqualification
WARNING!
Risk of injury should qualication be insucient!
Improper handling can result in considerable injury and damage to
property.
The activities described in these operating instructions may only be
carried out by skilled personnel who have the qualications descri-
bed below.
Skilled personnel
Skilled personnel are understood to be personnel who, based on their techni-
cal training, knowledge of measurement and control technology and on their
experience and knowledge of country-specic regulations, current standards
and directives, are capable of carrying out the work described and independently
recognising potential hazards.

2.5 Special hazards
WARNING!
For hazardous media such as oxygen, acetylene, ammable or
toxic gases or liquids, and refrigeration plants, compressors, etc., in
addition to all standard regulations, the appropriate existing codes or
regulations must also be followed.

The instrument bearing this mark is a safety pressure gauge with a
solid bae wall in accordance with EN 837.

The permissible medium temperature does not only depend on the instrument
design, but also on the ignition temperature of the surrounding gases, vapours or
dusts. Both aspects have to be taken into account.
The limits of the permissible temperature ranges of an “instrument hook-up”
mounting arrangement are determined, in each case, by the component with the
greatest restriction.
2. Maximum surface temperature
The surface temperature of the instruments mainly depends on the medium
temperature of the application.The instrument itself does not contain any heat
sources. For determining the maximum surface temperature, besides the medium
temperature also other inuences such as the ambient temperature and, if appli-
cable, the solar irradiation must be taken into account. For prevention, consider
the maximum medium temperature as maximum surface temperature, if it is not
possible to determine the real surface temperature even in the case of expected
malfunctions.

Explosivedust/airatmospheres
For dusts, the procedure specied in ISO/IEC 80079-20-2 for determining the
ignition temperature has to be applied.The ignition temperature is determined
separately for dust clouds and dust layers, respectively. For dust layers, the igniti-
on temperature depends on the dust layer thickness per IEC/EN 60079-14.

The permissible maximum medium temperature must not exceed the lowest
determined value, even in case of a malfunction.

The instruments must not be used in areas in which an atmosphere consisting of
explosive hybrid mixtures (dusts mixed with gases) can occur.
3. Temperature at the installation site
When mounting the instrument it must be ensured that, taking into consideration
the inuence of convection and heat radiation, no deviation above or below the
permissible ambient and medium temperatures can occur.
4. Pressurisation
Pressure surges must be avoided at all costs. Open the shut-o valves slowly.
5. Temperature increase through compression warming
Avoid the increasing of warming due to gas-compression. In these cases it may
be necessary to throttle the rate of change of pressure or reduce the permissible
medium temperature.
6.Equipotentialbonding
The instruments must be connected to the equipotential bonding of the plant via
the process connection by the end user in the end use application. Avoid use of
electric insulating sealing materials.
7. Handling of materials
Avoid exposing the instrument to any substances or ambient conditions that could
negatively aect the instrument and the materials used. Avoid handling substan-
ces that are liable to spontaneous combustion. For a list of the materials used,
see chapter 3 “Specications”. The materials of wetted parts not listed there (e.g.
Hastelloy) are noted on the dial.

8.Permissiblevibrationload
The instruments should always be installed in locations free from vibration. If the
line to the instrument is not adequately stable, an instrument holder should be
used for fastening.
If necessary, it is possible to isolate the instrument from the mounting point, e.g. by
installing a exible connection line between the measuring point and the pressure
gauge and mounting the instrument on a suitable bracket.
At the installation site
The following limit values must not be exceeded:
Frequency range: < 150 Hz
Acceleration: < 0.5 g (approx. 5 m/s2)
9. Cleaning
Clean the equipment with a moist cloth. Do not use other cleaning processes than
manual rubbing to prevent electrostatic charging.
10. Assessment of all accessory components
All accessories (e.g. valves or attachment components) must be assessed in
combination with the delivered instruments by the end user. Particularly the requi-
rements of grounding and prevention of electrostatic charges must be considered.

The operator must recognise ignition hazards and take suitable protective measu-
res. See chapter 2.2 “Responsibility of the operator”.
12.Descriptionoftheprotectionlevel
The operator must understand the Ex marking based on the description in chapter
2.6 “Labelling / safety marks” and observe it for their application.
13. Checking of the instrument labelling
The legibility of the marking must be observed during time in use but at least
during inspection periods of three years. See chapter 2.2 “Responsibility of the
operator”.
14. Instruments with mark pointer
For instruments with marking pointer, ensure that there are no electrostatic
charging mechanisms at the marking pointer.

15. Protection against external impact
Avoid any kind of external impact. External impacts can generate sparks through
friction processes between dierent materials.
16.Instrumentlling
The lling/relling of instruments leads to a loss of the explosion protection and
can lead to damage to the instrument.

4. Design and function
Description
Nominal size 100 and 160 mm
The instruments measure the pressure by means of resilient capsule pressure
elements.
The measuring characteristics are in accordance with the EN 837-3 standard.
The case is equipped with a blow-out device in the case back and therefore
meets the safety level “S1” per EN 837-1.

5. Transport, packaging and storage
5.1 Transport
Check the instrument for any damage that may have been caused by transport.
Obvious damage must be reported immediately.
5.2 Packaging
Do not remove packaging until just before mounting.
Keep the packaging as it will provide optimum protection during transport (e.g.
change in installation site, sending for repair).

6. Commissioning, operation
Personnel: Skilled personnel
Before commissioning the instrument, the conditions from chapter 2.7 “Special
conditions for safe use (X conditions)” must be fullled.
Mechanical connection
In accordance with the general technical regulations for pressure measuring
instruments (e.g. EN 837-2 “Selection and installation recommendations for
pressure gauges”).
When screwing the instruments in, the force required for sealing must not be
applied through the case, but only through the spanner ats provided for this
purpose, and using a suitable tool.
For parallel threads, use at gaskets, lens-type sealing rings or WIKA prole
sealings at the sealing face .With tapered threads (e.g. NPT threads), sealing is
made in the threads , using a suitable sealing material (EN 837-2).
The tightening torque depends on the sealing used. In order to orientate the
measuring instrument so that it can be read as well as possible, a connection with
LH-RH adjusting nut or union nut should be used. When a blow-out device is tted
to an instrument, it must be protected against being blocked by debris and dirt.

Installation
Nominal position per EN 837-3 / 9.6.6 image 7: 90° ( ⊥), if not stated other-
wise in the order documentation.
For outdoor applications, the selected installation location has to be suitable
for the specied ingress protection, so that the instrument is not exposed to
impermissible weather conditions. For information on the ingress protection,
see Technical information IN 00.18
To ensure that the pressure can be safely vented in the case of failure, instru-
ments with blow-out device or blow-out back must keep a minimum distance of
20 mm from each object.
Commissioning
During the commissioning process pressure surges must be avoided at all costs.
Open the shut-o valves slowly.

If faults cannot be eliminated by means of the listed measures, the
instrument must be taken out of operation immediately.
▶Ensure that there is no longer any pressure present and protect
against being put into operation accidentally.
▶Contact the manufacturer.
▶If a return is needed, please follow the instructions given in
chapter 9.2 “Return”.

8. Maintenance and cleaning
8.1 Maintenance
The instruments are maintenance-free. The indicator should be checked once or
twice every year. For this the instrument must be disconnected from the process to
check with a pressure testing device.
Repairs must only be carried out by the manufacturer or appropriately qualied
skilled personnel.
8.2 Cleaning
CAUTION!
Clean the instrument with a moist cloth. Ensure that due to the
cleaning no electrostatic charge will be generated.
Wash or clean the dismounted instrument before returning it, in
order to protect persons and the environment from exposure to
residual media.

persons, the environment and equipment.
Take sucient precautionary measures.
9.1 Dismounting
Only disconnect the instrument once the system has been depressurised!
9.2 Return
Strictly observe the following when shipping the instrument:
All instruments delivered to WIKA must be free from any kind of hazardous
substances (acids, bases, solutions, etc.) and must therefore be cleaned before
being returned.
When returning the instrument, use the original packaging or a suitable transport
packaging.
9.3 Disposal
Incorrect disposal can put the environment at risk.
Dispose of instrument components and packaging materials in an environmentally
compatible way and in accordance with the country-specic waste disposal
regulations.
