1 General information
1.1 About these instructions
These instructions form part of the product. Adherence to these instructions is a re-
quirement for the intended use and correct operation of the product:
▪ Carefully read the instructions prior to any activities on and with the product.
▪ Keep the instructions in an accessible place at all times.
▪ Observe all product specifications and labels on the device.
The language of the original operating instructions is German. Versions of these in-
structions in any other language are translations of the original operating instructions.

2 Safety
This section contains basic information about the individual stages in the life cycle of
the pump. Non-observance of this information may expose individuals to risks of an
electrical or mechanical nature. Failure to observe the information contained herein
will render any claims for damages void.
The directions and safety instructions in the other sections must also be observed!
2.1 Identification of safety instructions
In these installation and operating instructions, safety instructions are displayed as
follows:
▪ Danger to persons: Safety instructions are preceded by a corresponding symbol and
are shaded in grey.
▪ Damage to property: Safety instructions start with a signal word and are displayed
without a symbol.

2.2 Personnel qualifications
▪ Private individuals in domestic settings
▪ Have read and understood the installation and operating instructions
NOTICE!Children and persons younger than 16years or with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capacities are prohibited from handling the device!
2.3 Electrical connection
▪ Power grid with correctly installed protective earth conductor.
▪ RCD (residual-current device) with 30 mA is installed.
▪ Max. fuse protection 10 A.
▪ The technical data of the product (see rating plate) must match the data of the power
grid.
▪Connection cable with plug:
– Equip socket with earth contact.
▪Connection cable without plug:
– Electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician!
Qualified electricians are people with the technical and professional training to
correctly connect the product to the local power grid. Furthermore, qualified elec-

tricians are able to recognise and avoid the dangers caused by electricity thanks to
their knowledge and experience.
– Earth the device properly!
– Provide a motor protection switch!
The minimum requirement is a thermal relay/motor protection switch with temper-
ature compensation, differential protection relay and an anti-reactivation device in
accordance with the local regulations.
2.4 Fluids hazardous to health
Hazardous germs may form in stagnant waters (e.g. pump sumps, soakaways, etc.).
There is a danger of bacterial infections! Thoroughly clean and disinfect the device
after disassembly and prior to further use. Wear the following protective equipment
during removal and cleaning:
▪ Sealed safety goggles
▪ Breathing protection
Minimum requirements in accordance with EN 149: Protection class FFP2
▪ Protective gloves
Minimum requirements in accordance with EN ISO 374-1: Type C
DANGER!Instruct all persons of the type of pumping fluid and disinfectants, their
associated dangers, and correct handling!
2.5 Use in waste water facilities
These installation and operating instructions refer to domestic use of the product in
buildings and on properties. The following applies for use in waste water facilities:
▪ Additional specifications and guidelines for your own safety must be adhered to.
▪ Users must receive relevant training and instruction from the operator of the waste
water facilities.
DANGER!These installation and operating instructions do not contain the inform-
ation necessary to use the product in waste water facilities. Contact customer
service if the product is to be used in waste water facilities. The customer service
team has been trained to carry out this type of work. The customer service team
can correctly install and commission the product!
2.6 Transport
▪ Wear protective gloves!
Minimum requirements in accordance with EN 388, category II: 3131X
▪ Always carry the product by the handle. Never pull it by the connection cable!
▪ Retain the original cardboard box for transport at a later point.
CAUTION!Soaked packaging may rip and does not provide an adequate amount of
protection! If unprotected, the product may fall on the ground and be irreparably
damaged. Carefully lift wet packaging and replace it immediately!

2.7 Installation
▪ Wear protective gloves!
Minimum requirements in accordance with EN 388, category II: 3131X
▪ Check the product for damage. Do not use faulty products!
▪ The pressure pipe must not be smaller than the pump’s pressure connection.
▪ The installation site must be clean, dry and free of frost.
▪ Disinfect the installation site if there is a danger of germs forming!
2.8 During operation
▪ Accessible basins*: Do not operate the pump if persons are in contact with the fluid.
In the event of a fault this may cause death by electric shock!
▪ Open all gate valves in the pressure pipe.
▪ The float switch must be able to move freely.
▪ Do not squash or kink the connection cable and do not drag or route it over sharp
edges.
▪ Do not allow the water level to fall below the minimum level permitted.
*Definition of “accessible basins”
Installation sites that can be walked on and directly accessed without tools (e.g. lad-
ders):
▪ Garden ponds
▪ Paddling pools
▪ Cesspools
▪ Fountains, etc.
NOTICE!The specifications applicable to swimming pools also apply to accessible
basins.
2.9 Removal
▪ Disconnect the product from the mains:
–Product with plug: Pull the plug!
–Product without plug: Have the connection cable disconnected from the power
supply by a qualified electrician.
▪ Wear protective gloves!
Minimum requirements in accordance with EN 388, category II: 3131X
▪ Depending on the fluid, housing parts may reach a temperature of over 40°C (104°F).
Do not touch any part of the product other than the handle and allow the product to
cool down before further work.
▪ Clean and (if necessary) disinfect the product thoroughly!
▪ Drain the water used for cleaning into the sewage system.
2.10 Operating fluid
There is an oil barrier chamber between the motor and the pump. The oil separation
chamber is filled with oil (lubricating oil in accordance with ISOVGClass32). Small oil

leakages are not a cause for alarm, but should be cleaned up immediately. NO-
TICE!Large oil leaks indicate that the seal is broken. Contact customer service!
3 Application/use
3.1 Intended use
Submersible pumps are suitable for pumping:
▪ Sewage not containing faeces (DrainTMW only)
– Wash basins
– Shower basins/bathtubs
– Washing machines
▪ Wastewater (with small amounts of sand and gravel)
– Rainwater
– Drainage water
Restricted use
NOTICE
For use inside buildings only
In accordance with IEC60335: Use pumps with a connection cable of less than
10m (33ft) only inside buildings. Do not use outdoors!

3.2 Improper use
DANGER
Explosion due to pumping of explosive fluids!
Pumping of highly flammable and explosive fluids (gasoline, kerosene, etc.) in pure
form is strictly prohibited. There is a risk of fatal injury due to explosion! The
pumps are not designed for these fluids.
The submersible pumps must not be used for pumping of:
▪ Untreated sewage
▪ Sewage containing faeces (as per EN12050-1)
▪ Drinking water
▪ Fluids containing hard components (such as stones, wood, metal, etc.)
▪ Fluids containing high quantities of abrasive contents (e.g. sand, gravel).
Intended use requires compliance with this manual. Any other use is regarded as non-
compliant with the intended use.

Description
Pump with open multi-channel impeller and vertical pressure connection. Single-
phase AC motor with integrated operating capacitor. The motor heat is transferred
directly to the fluid via the motor housing.
The motor is equipped with automatically switching thermal motor monitoring. This
means that the motor is switched off if it overheats and will be automatically
switched on again once it has cooled down.
The built-in float switch enables the pump to be automatically switched off and on
depending on the fill level. The connection cable is built in and features a plug.
Material
Pump housing, strainer and impeller made of composite, motor housing and shaft
made of stainless steel.
NOTICE!In the HD version the motor housing and shaft are made of high-quality
stainless steel (AISI316L).
Twister function
The twister function guarantees permanent turbulence within the pump's intake area.
This prevents sediment from settling, resulting in a clean pump sump and reducing
the build-up of odours.

Operation on the frequency converter is not permitted.

5 Transport and storage
CAUTION
Soaked packaging may tear!
The product may fall on the ground if unprotected and may be damaged. Lift wet
packaging carefully and replace it immediately!
▪ Wear protective gloves!
Minimum requirements in accordance with EN 388, category II: 3131X
▪ Hold and carry the pump by the handle. Never pull it by the connection cable!
▪ Pack the pump when it is clean and dry and, if necessary, has been disinfected.
– Dirt fosters the formation of germs.
– Encrustations may lead to the impeller becoming blocked.
▪ Close the pressure connection.
▪ Protect the connection cable against kinking and damage.
▪ Pack the pump when dry. Wet or humid pumps may soften the packaging.
▪ Use the original packaging.
▪ Storage: -15 to +60°C (5 to 140°F), max. humidity 90%, non-condensing.

Recommended storage: 5to 25°C (41 to 77°F), relative humidity of 40 to 50%.
6 Installation and electrical connection

6.2 Installation
▪ Wear protective gloves!
Minimum requirements in accordance with EN 388, category II: 3131X
▪ Preparing the installation site:
– Clean, free of coarse solids
– Dry
– Frost-free
– Disinfected if necessary
▪ Route the connection cable so that it poses no danger during operation.
▪ Float switches must be able to move freely!
▪ Prevent air intake into the fluid! Air in the fluid may accumulate within the pipe sys-
tem and lead to impermissible operating conditions. Air pockets must be removed us-
ing the ventilation systems!
▪ Do not allow the pump to dry run! Ensure that the water never falls below the min-
imum level.

For stationary wet well installation, the pump is installed directly onto the pressure
pipe. Observe and adhere to the following points:
▪ The connected pressure pipe must be self-supporting. The pressure pipe must not be
supported by the pump.
▪ The pump may oscillate slightly during operation. These oscillations must be dissip-
ated via the pressure pipe.

▪ Ensure that the connection to the pressure pipe is stress-free– do not screw it in too
tightly.
▪ Seal pipe connections with Teflon tape.
▪ Install all specified valves in accordance with local requirements (gate valve, non-re-
turn valve).
▪ Install the pressure pipe so that it is protected from frost.
▪ Install the pressure pipe as a “pipe loop” to avoid backflow from the main public
sewer.
At its highest point, the bottom edge of the pipe loop must be above the locally de-
termined backflow level!
‡Site is prepared for installation.
‡Pressure pipe is installed as per local specifications.
1. Screw the discharge pipe fully into the pump’s pressure connection.
2. Position the pump at the installation site.
CAUTION!Use a hard surface or underlay at the installation site to prevent
sinking on soft substrate.
3. Connect the discharge pipe to the pressure pipe (e.g. using a flexible hose sec-
tion).
4. Secure the connection cable to the pressure pipe and route it to the socket.
▶ Pump is installed.
6.2.2 Portable wet well installation
The pump can be installed at any location on the application site when carrying out
portable wet well installation. Observe and adhere to the following points:
▪ Secure the pump against falling over and moving (creeping) during use.
▪ Secure the pressure hose to the hose connection.
‡Site is prepared for installation
‡Pressure hose to be used: Min. inside diameter 1½"
‡Hose clip to be used: 40−60mm inside diameter (1.6−2.4in)
‡Hose connection to be used:
- Drain TM ...: contained in scope of delivery
- Drain TMW .../TMR ...: to be purchased as accessories
1. Fit the hose connection.

- Undo the union nut at the pressure port.
- Position the hose connection on the pressure port.
- Position the union nut over the hose connection and tighten over the pressure
port.

- Fully screw the hose connection provided by the customer into the pressure
port.
⇒ Hose connection is installed.
2. Slide the hose clip over the pressure hose.
3. Slide the pressure hose onto the hose connection at the pressure port.
4. Secure the pressure hose to the hose connection using the hose clip.
5. Position the pump at the installation site.
CAUTION!Use a hard surface or underlay at the installation site to prevent
sinking on soft substrate.
6. Route the pressure hose and fasten it to an appropriate point (e.g. the drain off).
NOTICE!If the pump is being positioned in a full chamber, hold the pump at a
slight angle during immersion. This will help air to escape from the pump
more easily!
7. Route the connection cable to the socket. WARNING!Route the connection
cable so that it poses no danger (e.g. tripping hazard)!
▶ Pump is installed.
6.3 Electrical connection
DANGER
Risk of death due to electrocution!
Improper conduct when carrying out electrical work can lead to death due to elec-
tric shock! Electrical work must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accord-
ance with the locally applicable regulations.
▪ Power grid with correctly installed protective earth conductor.
▪ RCD (residual-current device) with 30 mA is installed.
▪ Max. fuse protection 10 A.
▪ The technical data of the product (see rating plate) must match the data of the power
grid.
▪Connection cable with plug:
– Equip socket with earth contact.
▪Connection cable without plug:
– Electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician!

– Provide a motor protection switch!
The minimum requirement is a thermal relay/motor protection switch with temper-
ature compensation, differential protection relay and an anti-reactivation device in
accordance with the local regulations.
Do not connect the pump if:
▪ The connection cable is damaged
Have the connection cable replaced by a qualified electrician or customer service.
▪ A standalone inverter is in use
Standalone inverters are used in autonomous power supply (such as solar power) and
may cause overvoltages. Overvoltages can destroy the pump.
▪ A multiple plug socket or power strip is in use
▪ An energy-saving plug is in use
These reduce the energy supply to the pump which may cause the pump to become
too hot.
6.3.1 Connection: Pump with plug
NOTICE
Pump starts up or is ready for operation!
The connection to the mains is established by inserting the plug into the socket.
Once the plug is connected to the socket, the pump is ready for operation and will
start depending on the fill level!
We recommend switching the socket on and off using a separate main switch!
6.3.2 Connection: Pump without a plug
DANGER
Risk of death due to electrocution!
Improper conduct when carrying out electrical work can lead to death due to elec-
tric shock! Electrical work must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accord-
ance with the locally applicable regulations.
CAUTION
Irreparable damage as a result of water penetration
Connection cables without plugs feature bare cable ends. Water may penetrate
the connection cable and pump via these bare cable ends. This will destroy both

the connection cable and the pump. Never immerse the bare end of the connec-
tion cable in fluid. Firmly seal it during storage.
If the pump is to be connected to a switchgear, cut off the plug. Carry out connection
to a switchgear as follows:

Adjust the motor protection
Set the motor protection switch to the rated current (see rating plate).
7 Commissioning
DANGER
Risk of fatal injury due to electrical currents in accessible
basins!
Do not operate the pump if there are persons in contact with the fluid. In the
event of a fault this may cause death by electric shock! Only activate the pump
when there are no longer any persons in contact with the fluid.
NOTICE
Check the inlet quantity!
The maximum inlet volume flow must be less than the maximum pump delivery
rate. If the inlet quantity is higher, the pump will not be able to pump away the
volume flow. The pump chamber may overflow!
Check the following prior to commissioning:
▪ Has the electrical connection been carried out in accordance with regulations?
▪ Has the connection cable been routed safely?
▪ Can the float switch move freely?
▪ Has the switching level (minimum water level) been checked?
▪ Have the min./max. temperatures of the fluid been adhered to?
▪ Has the max. immersion depth been adhered to?
▪ Are the pressure pipe and pump sump free of deposits?
