GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path
of least resistance,for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped
with a cord having an equipment
- groundingconductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted
into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed.and grounded in accordance with all local codes
and ordinances.

Improper connection of the equipment - grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock.
Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is
properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance
- if it will not fit the outlet,
have a proper outlet installedby a qualified electrician.
This appliance is for use on a nominal 120
- volt circuit, and has a grounded plug that looks like the
plug illustrated in sketch
A. A temporary apaptor that looks like the adaptor illustrated in sketches 6
and C may be used to connect this plug to a 2 - pole receptacle as shown in sketch 6 if a properly
grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adaptor should be usedonly until a porperlygrounded

The redwarning light (A) indicates a blockageor
afull bag,
so check:
a) Is the dust bagfull?
b) Isthere ablockageinthe hoseor power
head?
If the red light is disregardedthe machine will
shut
off and the lightwill flash.
Brush controller
The electronic brush controller continuously
monitorsthe operation of the brush.
If the red light
(B) stays off, the operation of the
brush is correct.
If the red light
(B) turns on in positions 1 - 4 of
the Pile adjustment knob adjust the brush by
turningthe Pile adjustment knob to a lower
position.
If the red light
(B) burns continuously in the
position
1, the brush must be changed for a
new one.
If the machineturns off and the red light (B) flas -
hes, the brush has becomeblockedand is not
turning. Switchthe machine off, unplugit from
the mains and clearthe blockage.
If there is no blockage, and machine turns
off
with brush lightflashing, raise brushto a higher
position.
When the machine is switched on in the upright
position the brush automatically rises from the
carpet. To release the machine from the upright
position, press down the foot pedal
(19). The
brushwillautomaticallylower.The handlecan be
loweredto an intermediatestop positionin order
to lift up the brush head. To lower the
handle to a horizontal position, the foot pedal
must be pressed a second time. The stop positi
-
on can be closed off by a slider on the swivel
neck
(25) so that the handlewill go from vertical
to horizontalinone movement.
To vacuum in corners etc.:
take hold of the telescopic handle grip, lift, it
away from the machine and stretch out the hose.
After use insert the telescopic attachment tube
intothe backof the machine. Raisethe handle of
the machine and the hose will automatically
retract. To use the hose without the tube as
shown inthe right handpicture,the hose will pull
out of the tube while the tube is fitted to the
machine. Alternatively, press the release catch
(27) on picture 2.
To vacuum under beds etc., the machine can be
fitted with an additional straighttune and the
floor nozzle.The machinewill then performas a
cylinder vacuum.
Never run over the cable with the brushlsuc-
tion head.
Alwayscarry the machineover steps andsills.

Maintenance
CAUTION - Always unplug machine at
mains outlet before dismantling any part
of machine.
If red light (A) shows, change paper filter bag.
To do this first pullcover release
(5) picture 1
forward and lift the cover from the dust bag
housing. Slide the dust bag sealing plate (28)
fromtheholder(29). Slidethesealing plate(28)
of anew bagintotheholderandpushfirmly in.
Insert cover into dust bag housing push is for

cover release
(5).
The micro hygiene filter (30) needs to be
changed when it becomes clogged with dust
or after approximately 20 paper bags have
been used. To change the hygiene filter first
removethe coverthen slide the filter out at the
bottom. To replace lift the lever and slide the
new filter in.
After 20 paper bags have been used also
change the exhaust filter (32). To remove the
exhaust filter push the catch (33) forward and
removethefilter cover (34) and filter.
Insertthe newfilter and replacethefiltercover.
To changethe brushroller(35)pushthe button
(36), removethe slide plate(37), turnthe brush
clockwiseaquarterof aturnand pullthebrush
roller out. Slide the new brush roller into the
brush housing and turn it until it locates into
position. Push the button (36) and press the
side plate(37) back intoplace.
Underneaththe machine isan inspectiondoor
to check for blockages(38).
Blockages in the neck (20
- picture 2) can be
checkedbyfirst lifting
off thedust bag housing
by pressingthecatch(8). Then releasethefoot
pedal, lowerthe neck and check intothe tube
next to the pedal.
Blockages in the hose can cleared by taking
the hose
off the machine and replacing it the
wrong way round in the connecting tube (24)
holding it upright with one hand blockingthe
top and switchingon the machine.
(If necessary quickly lift your hand on and off
the end of the hose).
The guarantee is invalidated if take out
parts not approved by
WINDSOR, eg. bags,
filters, brushroller, etc., are fmed!
