Winsig 3.0 Companion Installaon Instrucons
The WINSIG 3.0 Companion is a vercal plane log periodic antenna. It is design to be installed onto the vercal antenna boom
of your Winegard Sensar or Antennatek Signal Commander antenna and will complement the horizontal signals.
Note: Before commencing installaon of the antenna, a clearance check should be completed with the antenna in the
locked down posion. All caravan roofs are dierent, and obstrucons such as air condioners and solar cells can cause
interference with this companion antenna in the full down posion. Several alternave installaon posions are possible.
INSTALLATION OF WINSIG 3.0 COMPANION ANTENNA
1. Before beginning installaon, ensure all power (12v or 240v) is switched o.
2. To begin the installaon, rst elevate the exisng antenna and turn 90 to the stowed posion. Then lower the antenna
to a posion in which it extends laterally over the edge of the roof of the Caravan or RV. This will allow easy access to
the antenna with the use of a ladder.
3. Loosen the coaxial cable from the exisng antenna with an 11mm spanner, or similar, and once removed, lay this down
along the boom for aachment to the companion antenna later.
4. Working with the back of the antenna facing you, measure 150mm from the upper mounng pin, to locate the rst
mounng hole on the upper boom. Place the companion antenna in this posion with the angle bracket hard against
the boom, and mark the posion of the holes, using the companion antenna mounng bracket as a template. Note:
Make sure that you check your measurements against the diagram shown above before proceeding.
5. Centre punch the hole posions, and drill two 3.0mm holes in the upper boom.

6. Now install the vercal plane companion antenna onto the top tube as shown. Secure the antenna to the upper boom
using the two 8G self tapping screws provided. These should be hand ght. Note: If using a cordless drill or driver, be
careful to set a low torque seng inially, so as not to strip the formed thread in the aluminium upper boom.
7. The coaxial cables may now be installed. Aach the Horizontal antenna to the Winsig 3.0 Companion antenna using an
11mm spanner or shier. Note: The connectors have inbuilt rubber sealing mechanisms, and so the need be made
rm, but not over ght. Slide the connector boot on the cable over the connector to protect the joint.
8. The exisng coaxial cable from the original antenna can now be installed onto the female lead of the Winsig 3.0 Com-
panion antenna, and the protecon boot slid into place. All connectors are male-to-female, and cannot be incorrectly
installed.
9. The installaon is now complete. Return to the inside of the van, fully raise the antenna and orient toward the signal
source. Make sure the power supply (240v AC or 12v DC) is switched on, and remember to retune your TV, as you
should now be receiving more channels in both the vercal and horizontal planes.
As menoned earlier, several alternave installaons are possible. This document shows the two antennas poinng in oppo-
site direcons. One alternave is to have the Winsig 3.0 companion antenna installed so that is faces in the same direcon to
the original horizontal antenna. This orientaon will funcon equally well, but clearance checks when fully down are required
prior to installaon. The 150mm dimension can also be varied to ensure clearance to exisng components when the antennas
are stowed. The important characteriscs are that the Winsig antenna is vercal, and has clear line of sight above exisng
components on the roof of the van when fully raised. (such as an air condioner)
