2. Installation and initial start-up
The RoMatik 150 must be installed and connected to the on-site supply and waste pipes by a trained fitter in
accordance with the ”Installation Instructions for Winterhalter Gastronom RoMatik 150”.
The initial start-up procedure and briefing of the customer must be carried out according to the ”Start-up In-
structions for Winterhalter Gastronom RoMatik 150”.
For this purpose, contact the Winterhalter factory representative responsible for your site once the appliance
has been correctly connected up.
The RoMatik 150 is not ready for operation until all the necessary work has been completed.
3. Safety instructions for the operator
The following instructions must be observed in the interest of safe operation:
•Only operate the appliance as described in these operating instructions.
•Only use this appliance after having read and understood the operating instruc-
tions and been personally briefed on its workings and operation.
•The operating instructions are an integral part of the appliance! In the event
of a resale of the RoMatik 150, be sure to pass on the operating instructions
to the new owner/operator.
•Risk of injury: Do not open any coverings or machine parts for which the use of a
tool is required.
•Electric shock hazard: Do not interfere with the electrical equipment of the appli-
ance yourself under any circumstances: always leave this to a qualified electrician.
•The appliance may only be connected to a cold water supply
(max. 25°C).
•The appliance can only function properly if it is permanently connected to
the power and water supply. If not, unpleasant odours may occur in the water
due to microbiological processes and the appliance may be damaged.
•If the RoMatik 150 is to be taken out of operation for more than 2 weeks (dis-
connected from power and water supply), the membrane has to be mois-
tened by Winterhalter after-sales service.
•Any faults which are not due to the on-site water or power supply lines must be re-
ported to the Winterhalter after-sales service.
•If a leak occurs in any part of the appliance, shut off the water supply immedi-
ately and remove the mains plug in order to de-energise the appliance.
•Check all water connections for leaks once a month. Leakages outside the ap-
pliance are not detected by its safety system.
•The appliance must not be stored in rooms at temperatures below 5° C.
•The appliance is not splash-proof. Do not clean the outside with a wet cloth or
with a high-pressure or steam-jet cleaning device. Do not use detergents. Only
wipe the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth.
If the appliance cannot be protected against splash water for structural reasons, an
additional substructure should be provided.
•Take care to avoid crushing hoses or cables when moving or cleaning the appli-
ance.

4. Indicating elements
The indicating elements are located at the front of the appliance.
They enable the operator to monitor the water quality (”Purity level I, II and III”) during the water purifica-
tion process and also serve to display error messages.
If an error message occurs, contact the Winterhalter after-sales service and quote the displayed error
message.
Your appliance is working normally if the indicator for purity level II or III lights up no later than 2 minutes
after the commencement of water purification. If the indicator for purity level I lights up, this means that the
water quality has deteriorated.
The system then switches automatically to fault status (see error messages) and stops the purification proc-
ess.
5. Operating the appliance
Once your RoMatik 150 has been installed and calibrated by the Winterhalter service technician, it is ready
to be put into operation.
The RoMatik 150 is equipped with an electronic control system in order to simplify operation. During nor-
mal operation, there are only a few points to be observed:
•Observe indicating elements for the purity level in order to detect any deterioration in the water quality
at an early stage. This will also affect the washing results of your dishwasher.
•Observe error messages in order to be able to notify the Winterhalter after-sales service in time and so
avoid damage to the appliance.
After producing purified water continuously for 15 minutes, the appliance automatically performs a flush-
ing cycle. This is not an error.
6. Caring for the appliance
•Only use a damp cloth and no other cleaning agents on the RoMatik 150. Do not rinse the appliance
with water.
•Check all water connections regularly. Condensation beneath the filter behind the front cover is not a
sign of leakage, and can be simply wiped dry. If the ”stop” indicator lights up due to an accumulation of
condensation, remove the mains plug after wiping and wait for 2 minutes before plugging it in again.
•Check the indicating elements regularly for error messages.

7. Error messages
To protect both the user and the appliance itself from incorrect use, the RoMatik 150 is equipped
with various built-in safety devices for interrupting the operation of the appliance.
The following table explains the possible causes of common warnings. If the cause of the error cannot be
eliminated, the Winterhalter after-sales service should be contacted.
The symbols used have the following meanings:
Indicator extinguished
Indicator illuminated
Indicator flashing
Display Cause of error Remedy
Indicates internal leakages or con-
densation on the base plate
Splash water from outside
•If all connections are wa-
tertight, the Winterhalter
after-sales service should
be notified
Water supply is shut off or interrupted •Remove mains plug, open
water shut-off valves, wait
for 2 minutes, then re-
insert plug mains plug
Important: the device
must be connected per-
manently to the power
and water supplies

•Close shut-off valve, clean
strainer and re-open shut-
off valve.
If the error message per-
sists, the strainer in the
solenoid valve may be
blocked.
In this case, notify the
Winterhalter after-sales
service

•Have a diaphragm pres-
surized boiler installed.

8. Special information
The feed water must conform to the specifications of the Ordinance on Drinking Water:
Extract:
Limit values for chemical substances: Physical/chemical characteristics
Substance Limit value [mg/l] Characteristic Limit value

The turbidity must not exceed 1.5 FNU.
In addition, the water must be of drinking quality from a microbiological point of view.
Feed water hardness: max. 25° dH (31°e) TH (Total hardness).
9. Keeping the membrane moist
If the RoMatik 150 is to be taken out of operation for more than 2 weeks (disconnected from power and wa-
ter supply), the membrane has to be moistened by Winterhalter after-sales service, who should be notified
again before operation is resumed after the break.

1The conductivity of the clean water depends on the conductivity and the temperature of the raw water.
If raw water conductivity of greater than 1500 µs/cm exists, conductivity of the clean water of 80 µs/cm can
only be achieved when the raw water temperature is lower by a corresponding amount.
