Touch Base Unit
Change the Base’s Channel
To change base channel from main screen:
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch base.
2. Use the up or down arrow keys to change the base’s channel.
To change base channel from configuration menu:
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch base.
2. When the base’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. Select the button under RF.
5. Select the button under Ch. Ch will now be highlighted.
6. Use the up or down arrow keys to change the base’s channel.
7. Select the F1 button to save.
8. Press the power button to turn off the base.
Adjust the Power Output
The Power Output is set to 0 when shipped. The power output may be changed to help
strengthen the RF signal when transmitting to many remotes or at far distances.
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch base.
2. When the base’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. Select the button under RF.

5. Select the button under Pow.
6. Use the up or down arrow keys to change the power setting.
7. Select the F1 button to save.
8. Press the power button to turn off the base.
Adjust the Base’s Display
To adjust the contrast of a base if it appears too light or too dark:
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch base.
2. When the base’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. From the Configure Unit screen, select the soft key under DIS.
5. Use the up or down arrow keys to adjust the base’s contrast.
6. When the screen is adjusted to your satisfaction, select the F1 button to save
the changes.
7. Press the power button to turn off the base.
Turning Channel Scan On/Off
It is best for the base and remote units to be on the same channel. However, channel
scanning can be used to allow the base unit to find the best channel with the least amount
of noise. To communicate with a base with channel scanning on, remote units must be
configured with channel hopping on.
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch base.

2. When the base’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. From the Configure Unit screen, select the soft key under MIS.
5. Press the soft button under SCN to turn on (SCN is highlighted) and off
channel scanning.
Setting Base UID
The Touch base’s UID is set before it is shipped and should not be changed.
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch base.
2. When the base’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. From the Configure Unit screen, select the soft key under MIS.
5. Press the soft button under ADR.
6. The display will look similar to this 0 12 44 56 < 3. The four sets of
numbers to the left of the < represent the hex bits of the UID address. The 3
to the right of < represents the current position we are at. The 3 represents the
0. Pressing the up or down arrows will increment 0 one at a time. Pressing
Backspace increments 0 by 10. Pressing the Flag will decrement 0 by
10. To switch between hex sets use the left and right arrow keys. The 2
represents the hex set of 12. The 1 represents the hex set of 44 and 0
represents the hex set of 56.
7. When you have entered in the appropriate UID press F1 again to return to
the configuration window. Press F1 again to save.
Adjusting Base Offset
The Offset is the center frequency for all remote radios, ensuring base can
communicate with all remotes. The Touch base’s Offset is set before it is shipped
and should never be changed.

1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch base.
2. When the base’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
3. From the Configure Unit screen, select the soft key under RF.
4. Connect spectrum analyzer to base’s antenna connection.
5. Offset #1 is for Lite remotes, Offset #2 is for Touch remotes. Select the
Offset to be adjusted, use the up and down arrows to adjust offset until the
spectrum analyzer shows the base on the center frequency for that offset.
6. Press F1 when complete.
Turn Base on in Programming Mode
1. Press and hold the F1 button.
2. Press and release the power button without letting go of F1 button.
3. When USB Program Utility appears, let go of F1 .
4. Press the Enter button to delete old code.
5. Base will shut off when it has completed programming.

Touch Remote Unit
To Login by PIN
An iRespond session must be running to login to a remote.
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
2. At the Enter your PIN screen, use the stylus to enter in your unique PIN. (If
Username and Password is displayed instead of Enter your PIN, select the
middle soft button under PIN.)
3. Use the << button on the touch screen or backspace button to delete
entries.
4. When correct PIN is displayed in the screen select ENT on the touch screen or
the ENTER button.
5. If the PIN was entered incorrectly, the remote will display Login Failed.
6. Press OK on the touch screen and reenter your PIN. (If Login Failed appears
again, verify your PIN with the instructor).
To Login by Username and Password
An iRespond session must be running to login to a remote.
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
2. At the Username and Password screen, use the stylus to select the characters
of your username from the keyboard displayed on Touch remote. (If Enter
your PIN is displayed instead of Username and Password, select the middle
soft button under UN.)
3. Use the << button on the touch screen or backspace button to delete
entries.

4. If you are required to enter a password, tap TAB on touch screen or tap inside
the password textbox with the stylus. Otherwise, skip ahead to 6.
5. Use the stylus to select the characters of your password from the keyboard
displayed on the Touch remote.
6. Press ENT on the touch screen or the ENTER button.
7. If the Username or Password was entered incorrectly, the remote will display
Login Failed.
8. Press OK on the touch screen and reenter username and password. (If Login
Failed appears again verify your PIN with the instructor.
To Login Anonymously
Instructor must have the iRespond session set up to allow anonymous logins.
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
2. At the Username and Password or PIN screen, use the stylus or the softkey
button under ANON to login.
To Answer Multiple-Choice Questions
1. Select the correct answer by tapping inside the corresponding radial button. If
the softkey buttons have been activated, press the softkey under the correct
answer.
2. To change your answer, tap the radial button corresponding with your new
answer choice.
3. Press ENT on the touch screen or the ENTER button to go to the next
question or to submit your answer.
To Answer Multiple-Response Questions
1. Select the correct answers by tapping inside the corresponding checkboxes
with the stylus. If the softkey buttons have been activated, press the softkey
under the correct answers.

2. To change an answer, tap the checked checkbox again with the stylus. Tap
the checkbox of your new answer choice.
3. Press ENT on the touch screen or the ENTER button to go to the next
question or to submit your answers.
To Answer Fill-in/Short/Essay Response Questions
1. Using the stylus, tap inside displayed text box. Use the stylus to enter the
correct alpha/numeric response(s) from the keyboard displayed on the remote
unit.
2. Use << on the touch screen or the backspace button to change your
answer.
3. Press ENT on the touch screen or the ENTER button to go to the next
question or to submit your answer.
To Create and Save New Homework to Remote Unit
1. From the login screen of the remote, select the softkey button under HWK.
2. Select the softkey button under New.
3. If answering multiple-choice or multiple-response questions check the correct
checkbox(s).
4. To answer fill-in/short-response questions select the F2 button. Use the
stylus and the keyboard displayed on remote screen to enter in fill-in/short-
response answer.
5. When homework has been completed, select the softkey button under MENU.
6. Select Logout with the stylus.
7. Select Yes to logout.
8. Using the stylus and keyboard displayed on remote screen, enter in the
filename for your homework to be saved as.
9. Select the softkey button under SAVE.

10. At PIN screen you can log in to join a session or power off remote.
To Edit/Review Homework File Saved to the Remote
1. From the login screen of the remote, select the softkey button under HWK.
2. Using the stylus select the homework file you wish to edit.
3. Press the softkey button under Open.
4. Using the stylus tap incorrect checkbox answers to deselect them. To edit
Fill-in questions use tap inside textbox and select << or the backspace
button to delete the answer.
To Complete Homework Saved to the Remote
1. From the login screen of the remote, select the softkey button under HWK.
2. Using the stylus select the homework file you wish to complete.
3. Press the softkey button under Open.
4. Select or enter in the correct answer(s) to the questions displayed. See To
Answer Multiple-Choice/Multiple-Response/Fill-in Questions.
To Activate/Deactivate Softkey Buttons
1. During a session or when entering homework the softkey buttons can be
activated/deactivated by pressing the F1 button.
2. If more than five answer choices are available during a session pressing the F2
button displays answer choices F-J.
To change activate/deactivate softkey buttons from session menu:
1. Select MENU with the softkey or stylus.
2. Select Activate Softkeys/Deactivate Softkeys.
To Review Answers During a Session

Not available during Instructor-Paced sessions.
1. Use the left and right arrow buttons or the left and right arrows on the
touch screen to review through questions.
Change the Remote’s Channel
To change the remote’s channel from configuration menu:
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
2. When the Touch’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. Select the button under RF.
5. Select the button under Ch. Ch will now be highlighted.
6. Use the up or down arrow keys to change the remote’s channel.
7. Select the F1 button to save.
8. Press the power button to turn off the remote.
Configure the Remote’s Touch Screen
If the Touch screen seems to be slightly off, follow these steps to reconfigure the
screen.
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
2. When the Touch’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. Select the button under TS.

5. Using the stylus, tap the top leg of the crosshair in the upper left hand corner
of the remote. The crosshair should now move to the upper right hand corner
of remote.
6. Using the stylus, tap the top leg of the crosshair in the upper right hand corner
of the remote. The crosshair should now move to the lower right hand corner
of remote.
7. Using the stylus, tap the top leg of the crosshair in the lower right hand corner
of the remote. The crosshair should now move to the lower left hand corner
of remote.
8. Using the stylus, tap the top leg of the crosshair in the lower left hand corner
of the remote. The remote should now display Saving Parameters…
9. Press the power button to turn off the remote.
Calibrate the Battery Monitor
The Battery is calibrated before it is shipped and should not be changed.
1. Set a power supply to 3.3 volts. Connect the power supply to the battery
terminals in the Touch remote unit.
2. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
3. When the Touch’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
4. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
5. Select the button under MIS.
6. Select the button under BAT.
7. The remote should now display Battery Cal (3.3v) Done.
8. Select the F1 button to save.
9. Press the power button to turn off the remote.
Note: Some batteries will hold up to 4.2 volts and remotes may display more than
100% of battery left after charging.

Adjust the Remote’s Display
To adjust the contrast of a remote if it appears too light or too dark:
To adjust contrast from the configuration menu:
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
2. When the remote’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. From the Configure Unit screen, select the soft key under DIS.
5. Use the up or down arrow keys to adjust the remote’s contrast.
6. When the screen is adjusted to your satisfaction, select the F1 button to save
the changes.
7. Press the power button to turn off the remote.
To adjust contrast during a session:
1. Select the soft key under MENU from the remote session screen.
2. Using, the stylus, select Contrast Adjust from the Menu.
3. Using the stylus, drag the scroll bar left to make the screen contrast darker, or
right to make the screen contrast lighter.
4. When the contrast is adjusted to your satisfaction select OK with the stylus.
Setting Remote UID
The Touch remote’s UID is set before it is shipped and should not be changed.
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
2. When the remote’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .

3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. From the Configure Unit screen, select the soft key under MIS.
5. Press the soft button under ADR.

Turning Channel Hop On/Off
It is best for the base and remote units to be on the same channel. However, channel
hopping can be used to allow the remote unit to cycle through all available channels to
find a base on any channel. This is useful when using multiple bases that are set to
different channels.
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
2. When the remote’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. From the Configure Unit screen, select the soft key under RF.
5. Press the soft button under HOP to turn on (HOP is highlighted) and off
channel hopping.
6. Press F1 to save.
7. Power off the remote.

Turning Automaton On/Off
The Automaton is for testing purposes ONLY. The automaton allows the
remote to randomly select an answer to any questions it receives
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
2. When the remote’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Flag .
3. From the diagnostics screen, press the soft button under CFG.
4. From the Configure Unit screen, select the soft key under MIS.
5. Press the soft button under ATO to turn on (ATO is highlighted) and off the
automaton.
6. Press F1 to save.
7. Power off the remote.
Turn Remote on in Programming Mode
1. Press and hold the F1 button.
2. Press and release the power button without letting go of F1 button.
3. When USB Program Utility appears, let go of F1 .
4. Remote will shut off when it has completed programming.
Turn Remote on in Configuration Mode
Remotes must be turned on in configuration mode to run auto configuration on a remote
group. Auto configuration changes the channel for remotes and base in a remote group.
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.

2. When the remote’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen press
F1 .
3. The remote will display “RF Program Utility”
4. When the remotes have been configured they will automatically power down.
5. Remote will shut off when it has completed configuring.
Play Drop Zone Game
1. Press the power button to turn on the Touch remote.
2. When the remote’s UID is displayed at the bottom of the main splash screen,
press the following buttons in order: F2 , Backspace , and Backspace
.
3. Press F1 to start.
4. Use the arrows to move the game piece to left and right.
5. Use the arrow to rotate the game piece.
6. Use the arrow to increase drop speed.
7. Press F1 to start a new game.
8. Press F2 to quit and turn off remote.
