This is ahazardous type of machinery and should be used with care. Always di scon·
n ec t electrical connector b efo re performing repairs, a dju st ments or ma inten ance.
Be s
ur e machine Is prop e rly grounded . Never place hands or a ny pa rt of your per-
son in the path of the machine when it's in service. Keep the front guard as low
as possible during operation and complete ly down when not in use. For per so nal
sa
fety the ope rator sho uld rem ove all loose fittin g jewelry, s houldn 't wear loo se
or baggy fitting c lothing and persons with long hair should cover or pull it back.
Keep the machi ne cl ean and properly ad just ed, as this will odd to it s life and effic i ency.
Wh en order in g rep l aceme nt ports be sure to give Port No. , descr ipti on and machine size.
Before pl acing t hr ee phose machines in service be sure the kni fe r ota t es in o co u nte r-
cl
ockw i se di rec ti on when looking at the namepla te side of the machine. Th e rotat ion con
be ch ecked by o flash contact at the elect r ical connector with t he swi tc h turned on.
To reverse di r ection, inter c hange two wires (not ground wire) at electrica l co n nector .
• ., . jljit•l:l Sh ould the machine be run in the wrong direction ports cou ld unscrew
and damage machi ne . Single phose mac hin es always ro t ate in the prope r di rec ti on.
The gr ease cup in the st anda rd sh ould be ha lf fi li ed w ith grease. Use only o good gr ade
of cup grease.
To oil shar pener journal s, remove screw in end of bush ing shaft and oil . Keep emery free
from oi l and gr ease. To do t his, remove emery and rub whee ls toge ther until th ey show o
good
surface , or spray wi th Keep-M-Kieen soluti on (Order 12 100600).
It is most esse nti al that o keen cu tting edge be kep t on t he kn ife at a ll times , as this
i
ns ures cl ean and easy cutti n g. To ob ta in thi s, the grinding wh ee ls mus t be kep t pr ope rl y
ad just ed. Because of the wear of knife and emery wheels , it is n ecessa ry to ad ju st emeri es
toward the knife to avo id long beve l . Wh ee ls mus t touch knife eve nl y . Adjustment is
mode by re l
easi ng screws clamping the thr eaded journal s. The jou rn a ls co n th en be tu rn ed
to the proper positi on . Care should be t aken that the emery whee ls do no t go too fardown
on
kn i fe . A good beve l of 1/8" makes o good cu tt ing edge. Emeries mus t spin fr ee at ail
t imes.
To remove knife, p la ce pin in hole th rough standard . Use knife wrench and tu rn knife
nut to l eft. Wh en kn ife wears, move toeplate back so tha t knife is abou t 1/16" f rom end
of slot . Be sure to tight en screws tha t sec ure t oe plote .
To remove knife gear, ho ve knife on gea r. Then put pin in knife and stan da rd a nd loosen
grease cop with pin wren ch . Remove knife and cop. Then remove screw o'nd washer . T he
gear con then be l ifted off. Be sure not to l ose any washers that may be unde r beari ng, as
the y ad just the mesh of the gears. When replacing, be sure the screw and cop are tigh t.
