IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This appliance must be installed in
accordance with all National Electrical
Codes, as well as all state, municipal
and local codes. The correct voltage,
frequency and amperage must be
supplied to the appliance from a
dedicated, grounded circuit that is
protected by a properly sized circuit
breaker or time delay fuse. The prop-
er voltage, frequency, and amperage
ratings are listed on the product
rating plate.
Record the model and serial numbers
before installing the ventilation hood.
Both numbers are listed on the rating
plate.

As you follow these installation
instructions, take particular note of
the CAUTION and WARNING
symbols when they appear. This
information is important for the safe
and efficient installation of the Wolf
ventilation hood.
In addition, the printed instructions
may signal an IMPORTANT NOTE,
which highlights information that is
especially important for a problem-
free installation.
CAUTION
signals a situation where minor
injury or product damage may
occur if you do not follow
instructions.
WARNING
states a hazard that may cause
serious injury or death if pre-

DIMENSIONS
IMPORTANT NOTE: The chimney
wall and chimney island hoods are
recommended for use over the Wolf
gas and electric cooktop instruments.
They are NOT recommended for the
Wolf ranges and rangetops.

INSTALL BACKSPLASH
Optional Accessory:
If optional backsplash is used, attach
it to the finished wall. Secure the
hood mounting brackets to the wall
studs prior to installing backsplash.

INSTALL DUCTWORK
•Decide where the ductwork will run
between the hood and the outside.
IMPORTANT NOTE: All hoods must
exhaust to the outdoors.
•A straight, short duct run will allow
the hood to perform more efficiently.
Try to limit the number of elbows
and transitions to as few as possible.
•Long duct runs, elbows and transi-
tions will reduce the performance of
the hood.
•Install a roof or wall cap. Connect
8-inch round metal ductwork to the
cap and work back towards the hood
location. Use duct tape to seal the
joints between ductwork sections.
INSTALL MOUNTING
BRACKETS
•Construct wood wall framing that
is flush with the interior surface of the
wall studs.
•Make certain that the framing is
centered over the desired installation
location.
•Make certain that the height of the
framing will allow the mounting
brackets to be secured to the framing
within the dimensions shown.
•After wall surface is finished, secure
the mounting brackets to the framing
using dimensions shown.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire, use
only metal ductwork.

INSTALL THE HOOD
•Hang the hood from the brackets
through the rectangular cut-outs on
the back of the hood. Cut-outs are
larger than the brackets to allow for
horizontal adjustment, keeping in
mind that the bottom of the hood
should be 24 to 30 inches above the
cooking surface.
•Use height adjustment screws to
adjust the hood vertically.
•Use depth adjustment screws to
adjust the hoods horizontal position.
•Secure the hood with additional
mounting screws. Use drywall
anchors, provided with your hood, if
wall studs or framing are not avail-
able in the desired location.

INSTALL WIRING
IMPORTANT NOTE: This ventilation
hood must be properly grounded.
This unit should be installed by a
qualified electrician in accordance
with all applicable national and local
electrical codes.
Internal and External Blowers:
Refer to Figure 1
1) Remove cover from rear wiring
box. Remove the wiring box knock-
out that faces the hood's discharge
collar.
2) Feed 6 inches of 120 VAC power
cable through the knockout opening.
Secure the cable to the wiring box
with an appropriate connector.
3) Make electrical connections.
Connect black to black, white to
white, and green/yellow to green or
bare wire.
4) Re-install wiring box cover and
screws. Make sure that all wires are
secure and that no wires are pinched
between cover and box.

CONNECT DUCTWORK
Ducted Configuration
•Use screws and wall anchors to
secure the upper brackets to the ceil-
ing. Position upper brackets utilizing
dimension of decorative flue.
•Use an 8-inch metal duct to con-
nect the duct collar on the hood to
the ductwork above.
•Connect the upper section of the
decorative flue to the brackets with
the screws provided.
•Nest bottom of the decorative flue
into relief in the hood shell.

Additional Wiring
(for External Blowers only):

5) Remove cover from front wiring
box. Remove the wiring box knock-
out that faces the hood's discharge
collar.
6) Disconnect red and black or white
wires using a flat-blade screwdriver.
Refer to Figure 3
7) Feed 6 inches of the external
blower wiring through the knockout
opening. Secure the cable to the
wiring box with an appropriate con-
nector.
8) Attach external blower wiring
where wires were removed in step 6.
IMPORTANT: Note location of wire
colors.
9) Re-install wiring box cover and
screws. Make sure that all wires are
secure and that no wires are pinched
between cover and box.

INSTALL SUPPORT
SYSTEM
•At desired hood location, install
2 x 4 or 3/4" plywood cross framing
between ceiling joists. Note mount-
ing pattern dimensions.
•Finish the ceiling surface. Be certain
to mark the location of the ceiling
joists and cross framing.
•Determine the desired orientation
of the hood. Note that the front des-
ignates the control side of the hood.
•Secure the upper half of the sup-
port frame to the joists and cross
framing with four screws provided
with your hood. Make certain screws
are driven into center of joists and
framing for maximum strength.
Ensure the correct oreintation of the
support frame.
•Adjust the overall height of the
support frame. Loosen and re-tighten
the screws in the height adjustment
slots as necessary. NOTE: The hood
height is 11-1/4" from the support
frame attachment point. The bottom
of the hood must be 24" minimum
and 30" maximum from the cooktop
surface.
CHIMNEY ISLAND HOOD INSTALLATION

CHIMNEY ISLAND HOOD INSTALLATION
MOUNT HOOD TO
SUPPORT FRAME
•Mount the hood to the support
frame by aligning the (4) weld screws
on the hood to the (4) holes on the
support frame.
•Use (4) nuts to secure the hood to
the support.
•Nest bottom of the decorative flue
into relief in the hood shell.
•Make electrical connections (refer
to Install Wiring).

•Secure the upper decorative flue
section to the upper support frame.
•Temporarily hold the lower decora-
tive flue section over the upper deco-
rative flue section.

CONNECT DUCTWORK
•Use an 8-inch round metal duct to
connect the duct collar on the hood
to the ductwork above.
•Use duct tape to make all joints
secure and air tight.
•Slide the lower decorative flue
section downward until it fits proper-
ly around the hood.
Additional Wiring
(for External Blowers only):
Refer to Figure 2
5) Remove cover from front wiring
box. Remove the wiring box knock-
out that faces the hood's discharge
collar.
6) Disconnect red and black or white
wires using a flat-blade screwdriver.
Refer to Figure 3
7) Feed 6 inches of the external
blower wiring through the knockout
opening. Secure the cable to the
wiring box with an appropriate con-
nector.
8) Attach external blower wiring
where wires were removed in step 6.
IMPORTANT: Note location of wire

9) Re-install wiring box cover and
screws. Make sure that all wires are
secure and that no wires are pinched
between cover and box.

SERVICE
INFORMATION
IMPORTANT NOTE: If the ventilation
hood does not operate properly,
follow these troubleshooting steps:
•Verify that power is being supplied
to the ventilation hood.
•Check the electrical connections to
ensure that the installation has been
completed correctly.
•If the ventilation hood still does not
work, contact an authorized Wolf
service company. Do not attempt to
repair the appliance yourself. Wolf is
not responsible for service required to
correct a faulty installation.
•To obtain the name and number of
a Wolf authorized service company,
call Wolf Customer Service at (800)
332-9513 or check our website;
www.wolfappliance.com.
•When calling for service, you will
need the ventilation hood model and
serial numbers. Both numbers are list-
ed on the rating plate.
BLOWERS
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please refer to
installation information and rating
information provided with all
accessories and blower options for
further details.
•801640 – 600 CFM external
blower. For use with Wolf chimney
wall hoods or island hood.
•801641 – 900 CFM external
blower. For use with Wolf chimney
wall hoods or island hood.
•801642 – 1200 CFM external
blower. For use with Wolf chimney
wall hoods or island hood.
NOTE: All external blowers will
require transition to 10-inch round at
blower. Transition available from your
Wolf dealer.
•801643 – 450 CFM internal blower.
For use with Wolf 30-inch chimney
wall hood.
•801644 – 600 CFM internal blower.
For use with Wolf 36-inch chimney
wall hood or island hood.
•801645 – 900 CFM internal blower.
For use with Wolf 36-inch chimney
wall hood or island hood.
NOTE: All internal blowers will
require roof or wall caps. Caps are
available from most major hardware
stores or HVAC supplier.
WALL SHIELDS
•801633 – 30-inch Wall shield,
available in stainless steel.
•801634 – 36-inch Wall shield,
available in stainless steel.
FLUE EXTENSIONS
•801636 – Flue extension. For use
with Wolf chimney wall hoods. This
allows you to increase the height of
your chimney wall mount hood to
accommodate 10-foot ceilings.
•801639 – Flue extension. For use
with Wolf chimney island hood. This
allows you to increase the height of
your island hood to accommodate
10-foot ceilings.
