Setting up MultiPay POS SDK for
Passthrough
Introduction
This guide describes how to configure Axium DX8000 device settings and test your application
connectivity for the first time.
Setup Prerequisite
Whitelisting
Before completing user registration, confirm the following listening ports and active data connections
have been added to network boundary whitelists to permit traffic.

Configuring your Axium DX8000 Device
Device Settings
Before using MultiPay POS SDK for Passthrough mode, you will want to adjust the terminal device
settings to meet your requirements.

Connecting your Axium DX8000 Device to Wi-Fi
To connect to wi-fi, complete the following:
1. Power on the Axium DX8000 device.
2. Open the Android Settings menu:
•350000 is the generic password.

3. Select Network & Internet > Wi-Fi and the terminal will scan for local networks and allow you
to select yours from the list:
4. The device will request the wi-fi password. Key in the password required for the network
connection, and then select CONNECT.
5. Ensure it is assigned to the local Wi-Fi network.
•If it does not scan, ensure Use Wi-Fi is enabled at the top of the screen.
•Selecting your Network, selecting Forget, and then re-adding can help refresh your
connection.
Adjusting Date and Time Settings
1. Open the Android Settings menu.
•350000 is the generic password.
2. Select System > Date & time
3. Select the appropriate screen timeout setting to meet your needs:
•Use network-provided time –disable this option to configure a customized date and time
•Use network-provided time zone –disable this option to configure a different time zone

Time format:
•Use locale default –enable this option to default to the local time format setting
•Use 24-hour format –disable this option to have a 12-hr time format (1 AM –12 PM
4. Click Save.
Adjusting Screen Timeout
1. Open the Android Settings menu.
•350000 is the generic password.
2. Select Display > Screen timeout.
3. Select the appropriate screen timeout setting to meet your needs:
•15 seconds
•30 seconds
•1 minute
•2 minutes
•5 minutes
•10 minutes
•30 minutes
•Never
4. Click Save.

(Optional) Configuring your DX8000-BASE-W2 Docking Base
With the Axium DX8000 Terminal, the Axium DX8000-BASE-W2 docking base is available for an
additional cost to connect your terminal device to the internet through a hardwired ethernet connection.
The docking station base is connected to the ethernet connection, and then the terminal device (up to 5
devices) connects to the base using wi-fi.

Base Operating Modes
The docking station base has three modes for connecting.
Gateway / Router Mode –Default Operating Mode
•Local router distributes a corporate IP address to the Base Station Ethernet port.
•Base distributes IP addresses to DX8000 devices via internal DHCP server.
•DX8000 Base and devices are on private network segment (e.g. 192.168.47.X).
•Only the Base Station IP address is visible to and addressable by the network. All of the device
private IP addresses are masked from the network by NAT.
Bridge Mode - (Also known as Access Point Mode)
•Router distributes corporate IP network addresses to the bases and DX8000 devices.
•Base and devices are directly connected to local router and on the same network segment.
•Base DHCP server is turned off and NAT is not used.
•All device IP and MAC Addresses are visible to and addressable by the network.

Wi-Fi Repeater Mode
Designed to expand wireless coverage, by connecting two bases together by Wi-Fi.
•For example, DX8000 is too far away to connect Base A.
•Put Base B between Base A and DX8000 and Set Base B repeat the Base A.
•DX8000 can connect to internet via Base B.
•Does not operate with a Mesh network.
Connecting your Device and Docking Base
Pairing your Device
To quickly connect the AxiumDX8000 device to the Axium DX8000-BASE-W2 docking base you can
pair the devices using the Pairing button on the side of the docking base.
1. Power on the Axium DX8000 device.
2. Power on the docking base.
3. Click the Pairing button on the side of the docking base.
•If the red indicator light is on, it indicates the docking base is available for pairing.
•If the green indicator light is on, it indicates the docking base is successfully paired.
Note: Only one Axium DX8000 device can be paired at a time. If the docking base is
paired to another device, long press the pairing button to clear the pairing record. When
the red indicator light is on, pair another DX8000 device with the docking base.
4. The device will request the SSID password. Key in the password for the SSID and then select
CONNECT.
Note: The Base SSID and password can be found on the label on the bottom of the docking
base.

5. The device will authenticate the entered credentials. A successful pairing will be indicated by the
device displaying ‘Connected’ against the Base SSID.
Connecting to your Docking Base
Note: Ensure that the docking base is powered and connected with an Ethernet cable to the local
network.
1. On the Axium DX8000 device, open the Android Settings menu.
2. Click Settings menu on the device and then click Base.

3. Click the Scanning Box and scan the data matrix barcode label on the back of docking base.
4. On the Pop-up menu choose Only use base Wi-Fi.

5. Wait for the Successfully Connected status.
6. Click OK.
Accessing the Administrator Application
1. Use a computer to choose one of the two BASE default SSIDs (example below).
•Access the Wi-Fi network settings on your computer.
Example SSIDs are shown below:
•2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network will function correctly.
2. Use your web browser to connect to the base default address: http://192.168.47.1.
3. Enter the default network password when prompted. It is printed on the label on the bottom of
the docking base.

4. Browse the settings tabs described in more detail below:
Status - provides Firmware version and status of the WAN and
both the 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi networks.
Network (WAN/LAN) - provides settings for connection to
networks within the location or beyond.
WLAN - Provides settings for 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi networks and
also a list of clients that have connected to either of the Wi
networks.
Advanced - Provides settings for supporting modes of
operation. Gateway mode is the typical choice for most users.
Manage - provides parameters to update firmware, save or load
Base configuration and change the password.
IMPORTANT! It is strongly recommended that all passwords are immediately changed from
the default ones.
Changing SSID Pre-shared Keys (Passwords)
1. Select Network > WAN –the 2.4 GHz network page will be displayed.
2. Type new network password into the Pre-shared Key box.
3. Click Save and then apply.
4. Wait for confirmation.
5. Click on the 5GHz WAN tab at the top of the screen.
6. Repeat steps 2-4
Updating the Default Administrator Password
Note: This is the password to access administrator settings only.
1. Select Manage the Management page displays.
2. Go to the Password Setup section at the bottom of screen.
3. Enter the new password in the New Password box.
4. Re-enter the password in the Confirm New Password box.
5. Click Save and wait for the confirmation.
Hiding a Docking Base Connection
1. Select WLAN - the 2.4 GHz WLAN page will be displayed.
2. Select Hidden SSID > Enable.
3. Click Save and then apply.
4. Wait for confirmation.

5. Click on the 5GHz WLAN tab at the top of the screen.
6. Repeat steps 2-4.
Resetting the DX8000-BASE-W2 Docking Station to Factory Settings
To restore the docking station to factory settings:
1. Use paperclip or similar tool to press the RESET button for approximately 10 seconds.
2. Base will revert to factory setting and automatically reboot.
3. The location of the RESET button highlighted in the diagram.
DX8000-BASE-W2 Docking Station FAQs –Frequently Asked Questions
1. What do I do if the base fails to connect DX8000?
The DX8000 WLAN is not yet opened, so you will need to open WLAN via the drop-down menu
of DX8000 device.

2. What do I do if I cannot access the base web interface?
The DX8000 base password is incorrect and will not function correctly. Input the correct
password or restore factory setting to revert to the default password.
3. What do I do if the docking base is not connected to the DX8000 device, while the green
indicator light flashes?
The two devices are too far away from each other, and the connection is failing. Place the two
devices in closer proximity.
4. What do I do if the device cannot connect to 5GHz SSID, but the 2.4GHz one functions
correctly?
The mobile device does not display the 5GHz SSID, so you will need to verify that 5GHz WiFi
networks are supported.
(Optional) Mounting the DX8000 Device or DX8000-BASE-W2 Docking Station
Note: If you do not have a docking base, the base mounting structure can be placed directly over the
battery cover for the DX8000 device. You are not required to have a docking base to mount the
DX8000 terminal.
To mount the DX8000 terminal device permanently:
1. Remove the battery cover of the DX8000 device.
2. Position the space block on the table and install screws.
3. Mount the device-fixing structure on the space block with three screws.
4. Fasten the mounting structure on the device with three screws.
Note: The fasteners should be appropriate for counter material.
5. Replace the battery cover of the DX8000 device.

To mount the DX8000-BASE-W2 docking station permanently:
1. Remove the battery cover of the DX8000 device.
2. Position the space block on the table and install screws.
3. Mount the base-fixing structure on the space block with three screws.
4. Place the base on the structure to lock it in position.
5. Fasten the base-mounting structure on the base with three screws.
Note: The fasteners should be appropriate for counter material.
6. Replace the battery cover of the DX8000 device.
7. Put the DX8000 device on the base to lock it.

MultiPay POS Passthrough Connection
After setting up your device and integrating successfully, open the application and the following should
display:
Upon successful Bluetooth connection, the following message displays:
Note: If you receive an error message, review to the communication mode configuration, and please try
again. The communication mode must be configured for Bluetooth.
The application will display a message stating it is waiting for a transaction request when it is ready for
use:
