withthe installation,commissioningand operation ofthisproduct, and knowelevatorconstruction
verywell.Thisproduct shouldbe installed, tested, accepted, used and maintained according tothis
manualand GB7588-2003 SafetyRules fortheManufacturing and Installation ofElectric
Lifts”(egvEN81-1:1998”Safetyrules forthe construction and installation ofelectriclifts”)as well.The
manufacturerwill nottakeanyresponsibilityforanypersonalinjuryorequipmentdamagecaused
due toimproperhandlingorviolating above-mentioned manualand safetyrules during the
installation, commissioning, acceptance, use and maintenanceofthe product. Toguaranteecorrect
installationand operation ofthe motor, please read thismanualcarefullyat first.
1.1 Explanation ofsymbolsused
4types ofsymbolsareused inthisoperatingmanualas follows:
Adequatesafetymeasuresmustbe taken,otherwisetherewillpossiblybe significant
personalinjury(even death) or seriousequipment damages
It isnecessarytotake adequatepreventiveactions,otherwise personalinjury(but not
death)orequipmentdamages maybe caused.However,serious personalinjury
(even death)orserious equipmentdamagesmayalso be causedwhen external
conditions havechangedbut preventiveactionsarenot changed accordingly.
Paymoreattention totheinspectionandoperation,otherwise personalinjuryor

1.2 Basicsafetyrequirements
Gearless tractionmachine mustbe installed inalockableroom,sothatonly
specially-trainedpersons can haveaccess toit.
lOperatorsmustoperatethe machine strictlyaccordingtothe manualandGB7588-2003
(egvEN81-1:1998) rules, otherwise dangersanddamages willbe caused
lAftercompletion of theinstallation,checkwhetherthe motorand brake can functionnormally
accordingtothe requirements.
lThemotormust not beconnected directlywith3-phase power supply, but shouldbepowered
bythe frequencyconverterwhich isdesignedtodrivethe synchronous permanent-magnet
type motor
lThe magnetcoilsofthe motorandbrakeareheating elements,and anyobjectswhich will
prevent itsheat dissipationmust not be placedon the coils
lHigh voltage isgenerated during motorrotation,and even if the powersupplyofthe
frequencyconverterisdisconnected,thereforetouchingthe motorconnection terminalsis

prohibited.
lDuring high-speedrotation ofthe motor,itisprohibitedtoapplybrake bydirectly
short-circuiting the terminals.Butincase ofemergency,terminalshort-circuiting isallowedat
zero-speed startupinorder tomovethe car up and downslowlyfor the purposeofrescuing.
2 ProductDescriptions
2.1 Product Construction
WYJ140 series permanent-magneticsynchronousgearless traction machine(hereafter called
traction machine)adoptsthe low-speed,high-torquepermanent-magneticsynchronous 3-phase
motorwhich provides directwayofdrive.Thereforethe producthasthe advantages oflow
powerconsumption,lownoise,free ofpollution andlittlerequirementofmaintenance.Itsmain
construction characteristicsare:
lThetraction sheavesideadoptsdouble-row self-aligning roller bearing
lThe adopted permanentmagnetsandthe dovetail groovearefixedtothe externalcircle
surface ofthe rotorbyhigh strengthadhesiveinordertoensurethatduringthe operation
course,itwill notdemagnetizeorpeeloffeven iftherotating torqueexceeds 2.5timesofthe
rated torque.
lThe brake systemconsistsoftwosetsofindependentworking armature,friction disc,
electromagnet and brake releasing micro-switch.

3Handlingand Storageof Product
3.1 Storage
●The tractionmachine shouldbe stored inan enclosed place whichisdry,dustless,
well ventilated and without apparent vibrations.
●If the machine hasbeen stored formorethan 3months,itshouldbe operated on two
oppositedirections formorethan 10 minutes atthe speedof20r/mintodistributethe
lubricating grease evenlyinthe bearing inorder toavoidthe bearing being rusted
3.2 Lifting
●The lifting hookisonlyusedforlifting thetractionmachineand itsbedplate;any other
weightsmust not beadded

4Installation
4.1 Preparationspriortothemachineinstallation
●Whentheboxes areopened,checkthe goodsbyvisualtosee iftheyareintact. If
thereisdamage,and even if itisurgentlyneeded,do notinstalland operatethe
damaged machine
●Beforeinstallationofthemachine,calculatepermissibleload ofthe base and
foundation toseeiftheyaresatisfied.
●The baseandfoundation mustbe firmand hardenough toensurethe machinecan be
operatedunder allpermissibleload range.
●The planeness ofthe ground wherethe machine willbe installed shouldnotexceed
0.2mm.
●The machine mustbe installed inaclosed roomwhererelativesafetyprotection
measures can be observed.Ifthe machineneedstobe installed inapit, the pitshould

be waterproofbecause ifthe machine issoaked inwater,itmaycause destructive
damage.
●The feetofthe traction machine shouldbe fixed withthe M16 boltof12.9grade
intensity(feet installation).The spanner tightening torque is320N.m
4.2 Preparationspriortoelectrical connections
●The electricalconnection shouldbe connected by qualifiedelectrician afterthe
machine isinstalled.
●Switch offallcircuits(including attached orauxiliaryones)beforeconducting any
connectionoperations, especiallybeforeopening theconnectionbox.
●Beforeputting intooperation,insulation resistance ofthe motorand brakemagnet
shouldbe tested with500Vmegohmmeter. It’svalue shouldbe bigger than 0.5MΩ. If
the value islowerthan0.5MΩ,the coil shouldbe heated and dried.Working
frequencypowercan be used toheatitand itsvoltage value shouldbe 5%lowerthan
the rated voltage value ofthe motorand 30%lowerthan the rated voltage ofthebrake.
Observethe heating statemomentarily. The outsidecase surfacetemperatureshould
not exceed 80
●The permanent electricconnection shouldensurereliableconnection no looseness.
●Noexternalmaterials,dustand humidityairwillbe allowedtoenterintothe
connectionbox.Therefore,strictinspection shouldbe done beforeconnections and
locked the cableconnectorafterconnections tosealthecableentranceafterthe
cableenter intothe connection box
Operatestrictlysubjecttothefollowingsaferules toavoidpersonalinjuryor
machinerydamage.
●Switch offpower source.
●Anydevices thatcan activatethe machine bycausaltouches shouldbe closed or
locked.
●Makesurethat the power source has been separatedwithsafedevices.
●The circuitthatcanbring highvoltage(higherthan 1000V)shouldadoptdependable
groundingor short circuit.
●Neighboring operating componentsshouldtakesafedevices or protectivecover.
●The cableconnectorforthe machine iswaterproofandinaccordancewith
requirementsofEMC.
●Max.allowablevoltage ascending rateforterminalswhich areintheterminalbox is
1.3kV/μs,and max.voltage is1.3KV.Ifabove-mentioned values arepossibly
exceeded,afiltershouldbe installed oran externalreactorshouldbe connected in
series.The filterorreactorwill substantiallyincreasethe insulationlifeofthemotor,
but alsowillreducethe max. rotating torque ofthe motor by3~5%
●The insulating criterion forthe motoris700V,which isalso the maximumDC bus bar
voltage that the 400Vfrequencyconverter can reachinstantaneously

●Inordertoensurethatthe motormagnetwillnotbe demagnetized permanentlydue to
overheat, causing damageorperformance deterioration ofthe motor,itisnecessary
toconnectthe PTCdetectorstothe correspondingcontrolcircuits,so thattheycan
disconnectthe powersupplyinthe possibleshortesttimeincaseofoverheat
occurrence.
●Max. operating voltage ofPTCheat detectorsshouldnot exceed 25V.
●Max.allowableoperatingtemperatureofthe permanentmagnetis150 ,but
irreversibleloss ofmagneticperformance willoccuratthistemperature,which will
haveadverse effecton theoperation performance ofthe motor.Inordertoimproveits
reliability, PTC heat detector isset to120 .
●The reliableearthingmustbe providedforthemotorinordertoensureitssafe
operation.
●Inordertopreventthe maincables (outputcablesofthe converter) from causing any
electromagneticradiation and interference tothesurrounding environmentand
protectthe signaltransmission cables(cables connectingthe encoderwiththe
frequencyconverter) fromthe electromagneticradiation and interference,the main
cables shouldbe as shortas possibleandshouldbethe shielded 3-corecables.The
bothendsofmetalsheathofthe shielded cableshouldtwistand then connectto
groundatthe sametime.The currentdensityofthemaincableshouldnotexceed
7A/mm2, and itslinevoltage drop shouldnot exceed0.3V
●3-phasewindingsinthe motorhavebeen connected in Y”connectionandthree
lead-out lines areprovided
●Inthe adjacent3-phase winding of the motor,thereis3PTC heatdetecting elements
connected witheach otherinseries,anditsfunction temperatureis120.When

4.3.2 Connectionof thebrake electromagnet connection box
●The electromagneticcoilinthe brake electromagnetshouldbe connected withDC
voltage.Whenthe brake isrequired torelease,quickresponse excitation voltage of
DC200±10Vshouldbe electrified until the power supplyisswitched off.
●Forthe connection ofthe brake,itisnecessarytouse 2-corecablewithits
cross-section ≥0.75mm2and itsinsulating withstand voltage≥500V
●The connectionterminalsofelectromagneticcoil and2micro-switches areinside the
connectionbox,and thereshouldbe no dust, humidityand othersobjectsinside the
connectionbox duringconnecting(see picture3).
●The connection terminalofbrakingmicro-switch shouldbe connected in
normally-closed state, namelywhen the brakeisinbraking state(the electromagnetic
coilisde-energized), the twogroupsswitchcontactsareinclosed state,and when the
electromagneticcoil ofthebrake isenergized (the brake isreleased), the twogroups
switch contactsofthe braking micro-switch areinopen state
●The currentis0.3Awhenthe excitationvoltageforbraking electromagneticcoilis
DC200V.
●Forthe interrupting capacityofmicro-switch,the voltagedoes notexceed AC250V,
current doesnot exceed 0.5A
●The actuation position ofthe braking micro-switch can be implementedbythe
adjustingbolt ofbrake switch.
4.3.3 Encoderconnection
●Beforethe encoderisconnected ordisconnected withthe frequencyconverter,power
supplied tothe frequencyconverter must be turned offinorder toavoidany damages
tothe inverter and encoder.
●WYJ140 series traction machinesmaybe provided withawiderange ofoptional
encodersso thatcan selectdifferent inverters.Onordering,usersshouldselect
corresponding encoderaccording tothe usedfrequencyconverter,orselectthe
frequencyconverteraccordingtothe used encoder.Ifusersfeeldifficulttodetermine
it, theyshouldconsult the manufacturer ofthe frequencyconverter.
●The standardlengthofthesignalcableofencoderis10m.It alsocan be provided as
per users’requirements, but the max lengthcannot exceed10m
●Inordertopreventthe interferetothesignalcableofencoderfromthe cableof
traction machine,the powersupplycableoftraction machines andsignalcableof
encodersshouldbe laidseparately.
5Commissioningof traction machine
●Commissioning oftractionmachine isactuallytoensureoptimumadaptation between
frequencyconverterandtraction machine.Thereforeitisnecessarytohaveagood
understandingand abundantexperiences tothe frequencyconverterin
commissioning and use

●Afterinstallation and electricalconnections ofthetraction machine arefinished,check
carefullywhetherthe fixingand electricalconnectionofthemachine isreliableand
correct.
●Afterchecking and noerrorsarefound,beforesuspendingthe carand
counterweights, enter related parametersofthe machineintothe frequencyconverter,
and enablethe frequencyconvertertosupplypowertothe motoratno load.Inthis
case,the motorand frequencyconvertershouldbe inself-learningstatus.The
frequencyconverterreadsoutrelatedparametersofthe motorand relativeposition
values ofmagneticfields ofthe stator androtor ofthe motor.
●Afterself-learning,supplypowerinnon-load statetocheckwhetherthe self-learning
iscompletedcorrectly.Afterconfirmation,suspend the carandcounterweights.
During commissioning,the learning had betterbecarriedoutthreeorfourtimes.
Checkifthe nonconformance ofmagnetic-fieldpositionreadingsofthe statorand
rotor isveryslight.
●Asdifferentusersselectthe frequencyconverterfromdifferentsuppliersand types,
the actual operationandcommissioning shouldbeconducted strictlyaccordingtothe
operation manualssuppliedby the frequencyconvertermanufacturer. Ifthereareany
problemsduring the commissioning,please contactthe frequencyconverter
manufacturer intime.
●Inordertoreducethe braking noise beforeleaving factory,thereisslightgapbetween
the brakeshoeand brakewheelrim.During the firstself-learning,friction existsand
the stateisnotrealno-loadstate.Therefore,afterfirstlearning,run the machine atno
loadfor3minorlongerbeforeasecond learning can be started.Or otherwise,the
current on loads willbe increasedby10 15%

Brake When theelevatorisleveling,de-energizedorininspection offailure,the electromagnetis
underde-energized state,the armaturepushes the disc underthe functionofspring,and itbrakes
bythe friction between thefriction disc,armatureand electromagnetcore.Asthe frictiondisc and

the mainaxleofthe traction machinearecoaxialrotation, the mainaxlebrakes.
Normal release Whenthe tractionsheaveprepares torotateor isrotating, the electromagnet coil
isenergized,and the armatureand ironcorewillpull inwiththe function ofelectromagneticforce
and overcomes the pressureforce ofthe brake spring andreleasethe brakewheelrim, friction disk
and the mainaxlerotatecoaxially.
●The functionofthe brakingmicro-switch istodeterminatethatifthe brakeisunder
releasing stateorbraking state.The terminalofthe switch shouldbe connected tothe
control circuitofthe motor.Asitissafetyswitch,when the usersneed,the brakecan
be functionedas one part ofthe up travelcar over-speed protectioncomponents.
●Brakemechanismconsistsoftwogroups ofseparateoperation mechanisms,and
each group consistsofelectromagnet, armature,spring,friction disc and thread
bushing.If one group ofoperation mechanism isdamaged,the othergroupisstill in
effect toensurethe safetyofthe elevator operation
6.2Commissioningof brake mechanism
●The brake issettorated braking torque beforedelivery. Generally,usersdo notneed
toreadjust it.
●Asthe twogroupsofoperation mechanismsarefixed bythe same4lockbolts,each
group operation mechanismcannot be disconnectedindependently.
●The ratedbraking torqueofbrake, referstothebrakingtorque of allthe brakes on the
traction machinesis2.5timesofthe torque when the machine isatratedtorque.For
WYJ140 series tractionmachines,itadopts2groupsofbrakes,so the rated braking
torque ofbrakereferstothe braking torqueofone group electromagnetis1.25 times
ofthe torqueofthe ratedtorque oftractionmachine.
6.2.1Adjustment of airgapamongfriction disc,armatureandelectromagnet core
Step 1 loosen the4threadbushingson one brake,Step2: tighten4lockboltscompletelytoenablethe
do notloosen the thread bushingsonanotherbrakebraking surfacesofthe friction disc topressonthe armature
and electromagnet corefully
Step 3 loosen 4lock boltsto angle72 degreesanticlockwise,Step4: tighten the 4thread bushingscompletely.

discandthetwobraking surfacesarearound0.15mm,measurethismethodtoadjust another brake.

●Ifthe brake can notopenfully,which willmake the brake plateofthebrake disc
overheatingtoreduce brakingtorque oreven lead tocarbonization andpeeling off
duringthe operation.Besides,itwill alsopossiblycause overload ofthe motor, and
thus the motorwilloverheat, which willdrivethe protection circuittofunctionorwill
leadtomalfunctioningor even damages
●Afteradjusting the brakegap,the brakingmicro-switch shouldbe adjustedtothe
status whichismentionedinthe item4.3.2.
●The encoder base ofthetraction machineisfixedonthe iron coreofbrake, soloosen
the encodereachtimebeforeadjusting brake.Fixthe encoderafteradjusting the
brake, and thepositionofthe encoder ischanged, sothe self-learning isnecessary.
6.2.2Adjustment of braketorque
The brakeisalreadyadjusted tothe ratedbrake torque,please see the table3.Usersdo
not need toreadjust it.

7Emergencyrescue
Asthereisno hand wheelandmanualrelease device,the emergencyrescue mustbe
executed byusingemergent power supply.
●The emergentrescuecan be done byusing the potentialenergy.When the motorhas
stoppedrunningoritrunsataspeed below5%ofitsrated speedand the brake is
underreleasing state,short-circuitconnectthe 3lead-interminalsofthe motor. The
short circuitmustbeimplemented bycontactor, and make surethatthe3lead-in
terminalsandoutput endofinverter areinthe statues ofopen circuit.
●Additionally, do notreplace the normalbrake function withthe short-circuiting of
motor’slead-interminals, which isonlyan optionalemergent rescue measure.

8.2Inspection andmaintenance of brake
8.2.1Cleaning thecarbonizedthingson thefriction plateandthesurfacesofthetwobraking
surfaces
●Afterlong timerunning ofthe gearlesstractionmachine,the brake platesurfacewill
be carbonized and hassomeblackcarbonized thingsleft on the surfacesofthe brake
plate, armatureand the iron corebecause oflong timefriction amongthe brake plate,
armatureand the iron core,which willaffectthe traction machinetoreduce itsbrake
torque.Ifthereisanyphenomenonlike above,the surfaces ofthe brake plate,
armatureandiron coremust be cleanedand maintained intime
●The friction discconsistsofsplined disc and brakeplate.When the thicknessofthe
brakeplatewhichisadhered onthe friction discislessthan 3mm,the friction disc
shouldbe replacedtoensurethe safeoperationofthe lift.
●Beforecleaning thecarbonized things,the elevatormustbe stoppedinordertoavoid
anyaccidents
●It isnotallowedtooperatethe traction machine during the gapadjustment. Atthis
time,the positionofthe encoderischanged duetothe adjustmentofbrake.The
self-learning isnecessaryafter bothofthe brakes arewell adjusted.
Themaintenance stepsof thebrake as follows
●Lift the car, and then removethe wireropes fromthetraction sheave.
●Dismantlethe encoder,then disconnectthe lead-outlines of electromagneticcoil and
braking micro-switchfromthe connectionbox.
●Whendisconnectthe brake,please loosenthe 4lockbolts,thentakeoutthe whole
brakeandreplace thefriction disc.
●Installthe newbraketothe tractionmachine,adjustthe airgapsamongthefriction
disc, armatureand electromagnet coreaccording toitem6.2.1.
●Installthe encoder after theadjustment ofbraking gap, then do the self-learning.

8.3Replacementof traction sheave
Step 1: Disconnect the forcing screw oftraction sheave
(number 4intable1) and retainer ring (number 5).
Step 2:Asshowed inpicture5, thereisamat which diameter
isno morethan 65mmbetween retainer ringand mainaxle,
tighten 3pcs ofM10 boltsevenly, then takeout the traction
sheavefromthemainaxle.
Step 3: Put the new tractionsheavetothe main
axle, install the retainer ringand then tighten bybolts.
