Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this quality product. To minimise the risk of injury we urge that our clients
take some basic safety precautions when using this device. Please read the operation instruc-
tions carefully and make sure you have understood its content.
Keep these operation instructions safe.
The polystyrene cutter is a professional hot cutting tool for foamed plastics. It heats up in seconds and
enables the operator to precisely control the temperature.
Safety instructions
•Check the device for completeness and function before each start-up.
•Never operate a damaged or unusable device.
•If the device is damaged, you should have it repaired by a qualified specialist.
•Do not use the device forcibly.
•Never leave the device unattended near children.
•The device is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with limited physical, sen-
sory, or mental capabilities or a lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised
by a person responsible for their safety or have received from him or her instructions on how to
use the device.
•Follow all instructions and notes in this manual to avoid damage to property and injuries.
•Only operate the device in a well-ventilated area.
•Do not touch the blade while it is heating up and do not bring it near flammable materials after
it has heated up.
•To avoid burns, do not touch the blade until it has cooled down.
•Do not burn any residue on the blade as this will warp it.
•Do not use the cutter in a damp environment and keep the device away from rain.
•Only cut materials for which the device has been designed.
Recommended use
Expanded polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XPS), polyethylene, cross-linked polyethylene, pol-
ypropylene and many other foamed plastics and materials can be easily cut with the polystyrene cutter.
Check with the foam manufacturer for safe and correct cutting practices.

Mounting the blade
Note! Always pull the power plug before installing or removing the blades. Allow the blades, blade hold-
ers, and metal adjustment wheel to cool sufficiently before picking them up.
Caution! The blade is sharp-edged. Always cut with the sharp edge for the cleanest cut.
Straight blades
1. Loosen the screws on the blade holders with a wrench.
2. Slide the blade under the square pressure plate until it is firmly in place.
3. Tighten the screws securely so that the electrical connection is correct. But do not over-tighten
them.
4. Once the blade is firmly in place, connect the device to a standard 220–240 V power supply.
5. The temperature regulator has 16 locking positions that correspond to the stepped grooves on
the surface. The smaller the groove, the lower the power setting.
6. Press the switch to use the device.
Caution! Excessive power output and heat development can lead to overheating of the blade holder
and thus to damage to the device. Ensure the correct output power and cutting speed, as overheating
will burn the blade. The blade does not have to be red-hot to move through foamed plastics.
Commissioning
Set the temperature control to the medium temperature setting, place the blade on the edge of the foam
and pull the trigger. Optimal cutting should be almost entirely smoke-free.
Note! For best results, first practice on foam scraps.

•When cutting polystyrene, it is best to keep the temperature and speed uniform.
•If smoke develops during the cut, the cut is too slow or the blade is too hot, which can result in
an oversized, uneven cut. You can remedy this by lowering the temperature and occasionally
letting go of the trigger during the cut.
•When the cutting resistance increases, pull the trigger again. The device reaches the set tem-
perature within seconds. This allows you to do your cut with minimal smoke. Cutting this way
also extends the life of the blade.
•If you let go of the trigger about 1 or 2 cm before finishing cutting, the blade will stay clean and
free of debris.
•The selected cutting blade should not protrude more than 2 cm (¾″) beyond the thickness of
your foam board. The foam cools the blade as it cuts. However, the free part can overheat,
which can cause the blade to warp.
Maintenance
•Regular use of the polystyrene cutter can cause material to build up on the blades and blade
holders. This excess material interferes with the flow of heat and affects the performance of the
blades. The blade holder and the blades can be cleaned thoroughly with a wire brush.
•Always keep the ventilation slots clean to ensure safe and proper work.
