Preface
This user’s manual describes how to install and use
theCRUISER(XCM-2000)cablemodem.
We recommend you to carefully read through the
manual before installing or using the CRUISER
(XCM-2000)cablemodem.
The CRUISER (XCM-2000) cable modem is so
delicately designed that users do not need to open
the housing and touch the inside. Therefore, for
upgrade or repair, you should contact the dealer
who you purchased the modem or call at one of our
servicecenterstogethelpfromatechnician.
Please, give a call to the dealer for further questions
on the manual or while installing and using the
CRUISER(XCM-2000)cablemodem.
INFORMATION TO THE USER (Part 15, Section 15.105(b))
INFORMATION TO THE USER
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B
digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to
provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential
installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency
energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may
cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no
guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this
equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which
can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to
try to correct the interference by one more of the following measures:
-Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
-Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
-Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which
the receiver is connected.
-Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void
the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

1. Overview of CRUISER (XCM-2000) Cable Modem
1.1 Features
1.2 Appearance
The CRUISER (XCM-2000) cable modem has been developed to
meet the specification, MCNS/DOCSIS V1.0. Hence, the
CRUISER(XCM-2000)cable modem is compatiblewithany other
cable modems which satisfy DOCSIS V1.0 and can interoperable
withanyDOCSIS V1.0head-endsystems(CMTS).
The CRUISER (XCM-2000) cable modem provides high-speed
data services connecting a PC or local LAN to a high-speed
Internet or multimedia service network through the CATV
network. The CRUISER (XCM-2000) cable modem allows users
to transmit/receive data about 100 times as fast as existing other
modemswhichusetelephonelines.
Once you set up the CRUISER (XCM-2000) cable modem, you
must feel a significant performance improvement when using
data services such as Internet (WWW), chatting, e-mail and FTP
andcanimprovetheutilizationfactorofyourPCornetwork.

2.4 Connection of Cable Modem (Office Version)
TheCRUISER(XCM-2000)cablemodemshouldbeconnectedtotheCATV
cableanduser’sdevicesasdescribedbelow.
•Connectthe coaxialcable providedby a ‘CATV’service providerto theterminal
‘CABLE’ontheback panel ofthe modem.
•Connecteither endof theRJ-45 Ethernet cableto theterminal‘ETHERNET’
onthe backpanel ofthe cable modemand theother endtothe trunk
terminalof yournetwork device.
3. Use of CRUISER (XCM-2000) Cable Modem
3.1 Verification of Functions
••POWER(LED)
ThisLED indicatesthat thepower of thecable modemis on.
••TEST(LED)
ThisLED goeson toindicate that thecircuit ofthe modemisbeing checkedwhen
thepower isinitially appliedto the modemor themodem isreset.
••LAN(LED)
ThisLED flashesto indicatethat the cablemodem andyour PCnormallytransmit/receive
datawhile themodem normallyoperates.
••U/S(LED)
ThisLED flashesto indicatethat the cablemodem normallytransmits data.
••D/S(LED)
ThisLED flashesto indicatethat the cablemodem normallyreceives data.
••SYNC(LED)
ThisLED indicatesthat thecable modem andhead-end equipment(CMTS)
aresynchronized fordata transmission/receptionas the modemis initialized.
Itshould bealways onwhile the modemnormally operates.

Thissocket isa terminalto supply powerto thecable modemconnectingthe
CRUISER(XCM-2000) cablemodem dedicatedpower adapter tothe modem.

Caution:Youmust use the dedicated power adapterincluded in the CRUISER (XCM-2000)cable modem
package,otherwisethe cable modem may beseriouslydamaged.

Thisport isused inconnecting your PCor networkequipment (hub,switch,router, etc.).
Youmay usethe RJ-45UTP cable includedin theCRUISER(XCM-2000)Cable modem
packageto connectthe port.
••CABLE(Socket)
Thissocket isa terminalto connect thecoaxial cablefor cablemodemwhich isfed
fromoutside. Youare requiredto connect this terminalto the75 coaxial cable providedby
cabledata serviceprovider.

3.2 Trouble shooting
Please contact the dealer or call at the service center for usage or post-sale service of
the CRUISER (XCM-2000) cable modem. We advise you to check the followings
beforegivingusacall.
•On unpacking the CRUISER(XCM-2000)cable modem package,You can request the
dealer to exchange the damaged or lost contents. ( damaged adapter, damaged
XCM-2000,defective contents,etc.)
•You must check the followings first if LEDs do not turn on at all or do not normally
operatein spiteof acorrect connection ofthe adapter.
-There may be a problem with the power connector or power adapter.
Therefore, you need to make sure that the power plug is correctly
connectedtothepowerconnector.
Note:Regardingpowersupply of XCM-2000, youdonotneedtoworryaboutwhethertoset it
to110Vor 220V
nortoperformanyuserdefined special operations.
•You cancheck thefollowings for badconnection.
-
Theremaybe a problem with thecableif‘RDY’and/or‘SYNC’oftheLEDs
do not turn on. You must check if the coaxial cable is correctly connected
and, if so, you should wait for minutes after pushing the‘RESET’key.
Nevertheless, if those LEDs‘RDY’and‘SYNC’do not turn on, you must
haveitcheckedbytheserviceprovider.

Ifyouarenot able to access Internet despitethat‘RDY’and‘SYNC’areon,
you can check the Ethernet port. Then, you must verify that your PC and
LAN card or the HUB port in use is on and check the Ethernet cable over
again. If you are still not able to access Internet, you can check if the LAN
card or HUB is correctly set up. Also, you may be able to get help from the
serviceprovideronchronictroubles.
If the CRUISER (XCM-2000) cable modem does not properly work in spite of your
actions according to the instructions above, you can disconnect the power adapter
forabout5~10secondsandthenconnect it to the modem again.
Since there are no further complicated items with the CRUISER (XCM-2000) cable
modem that users have to understand themselves besides connection of the power
adapteror cables, you wouldbetter get help (post-saleservices) from the dealer for
chronictroubles.
