The Wi-Fi network we use needs at least a 4G connection (preferably 5G) if it is tethered to a
smartphone. The same also applies if it is connected to an access point on the boat with a
SIM to connect to the cellular network. Otherwise if it is connected to the marina Wi-Fi it is
better to connect it not to the 2.4 GHz (which has only 11 channels with limited bandwidth) but
to the 5 GHz (which has more than 23 channels with extended bandwidth and more than 100
narrow-band channels).

1. Introduction
1.2. Transmitter features
The transmitter electronics is enclosed in a silver ABS case that combines ergonomics and
functionality with an IP65 protection rating.
On the transmitter are the following buttons
1Anchor right Up / Down.

enable the auxiliary commands, indicated
by the yellow LED.

2. Use of the system
The commands on the receiver are activated by the respective transmitter’s buttons. The
transmitter cyclically transfers the state of the buttons to the receiver.
The command will remain active as long as the corresponding button is pressed.
In case of communication failure between the transmitter and receiver, the receiver is
automatically deactivated, signaling the anomalous condition with an acoustic alarm signal.
IMPORTANT:
It is not possible to command simultaneously the same receiver from several
transmitters. In fact, the periodic transmissions of the radio controls would cause
interferences and improper activation of the commands.
ATTENTION:
The information for checking during operation can be viewed on Smartphone, PC etc.
through a Wi-Fi connection. It is also visible on the new generation’s chartplotters.
The procedure for Wi-Fi connection with the receiver and the description of the menus
and all Maximo screens are contained in the installation manual of the receiver.
2.1. Warnings
DANGER:
•MAXIMO should only be used by adults with all the qualifications necessary for the
proper operation and management of the boat.
•The transmitter must always be secured outside the range of children on board.
•During use, pay the maximum attention that the bow of the boat reproduced on the
front panel of the transmitter always coincides with that of the boat. If not, the
commands must be exactly the opposite of those desired.
WARNING:
•Always use the transmitter in the range of action of the receiver. If you leave the
range, the transmitter will warn you by vibrating and the receiver will emit an
alarm tone. For safety, the receiver will interrupt the previous commands,
putting itself in safety mode. To resume the command, return to the range.
•Also in the nearby presence of other Yacht Controller devices, operating at the
same time on adjacent boats, improper activations are not possible because the
transmitters continuously modify the communication frequency with the
receivers.
•Never use the transmitter if you are not on board the boat which you are
commanding. Remember that the abandon of a vessel in Italy and in other
Countries is illegal and it is a punishable crime.
•If the transmitter battery charge LED indicates that the battery is low, recharge
the transmitter as soon as possible.

WARNING:
When using Maximo it is recommended to turn off radar, microwave oven, induction
cooker hob and any other device emitting electromagnetic waves with a power
higher than 1,000 W.
These devices, sometimes of low quality and not compliant with the law on
electromagnetic emissions, can interfere with the transmissions of the Maximo
system, which by law cannot exceed 10 mW (100,000 times less).
2.2 Activation procedure
In order to activate Maximo, follow step by step the below procedure:
•Activate the control heads to enable the command station connected to the Maximo
receiver.
DANGER:
TO USE MAXIMO, LEAVE THE CONTROL HEADS IN NEUTRAL POSITION.
•Activate the Maximo receiver using the On / Off switch. After about 20 seconds, the
receiver's beeper will begin to emit the danger intermittent signal indicating that the system
is operational but has not established yet the radio connection with the transmitter.
•If the system emits a long acoustic signal followed by short acoustic signals, an anomaly
condition exists which prevents Maximo from operating (for example, control heads off). In
this case, Maximo cannot be used. To view the alarm, wait approximately one / two
minutes then connect with a smartphone, tablet or PC to the Maximo Wi-Fi (see “Wi-Fi
connection” paragraph of the installer manual). If you do not currently have Wi-Fi
connection, consult the following table for help.

•If there are no alarms, turn on the transmitter, keeping pressed the On / Off button for more
than 3 seconds (security delay childproof). The transmission LEDs light up blue, indicating
that the transmitter and receiver are communicating but waiting to engage. The receiver
acoustic danger signal is replaced by the waiting signal of engagement, characterized by a
beep every two seconds approximately. During this time the transmitter is not operational.

•To make Maximo operating, press twice the engage (On-Off) button, within 5 seconds
between the first pressure and the second one.
•If the operation was successful, the receiver's beep stops and the system is fully
operational. The two multi-colored LEDs will flash indicating the transmission on the two
bands. The color of the LEDs will change according to the signal strength.
Indicatively, the LEDs will appear green within 5 meters from the receiver.
They will appear white within 8/10 meters from the receiver.
They will appear purple beyond 10 meters.
They will appear red if the transmitter is out of the receiver’s transmission range.
WARNING:
From this moment Maximo is operating. Pay the maximum attention, because the
involuntary pressure on any of the transmitter buttons, will cause the activation of the
related command output.
IMPORTANT:
To preserve battery life, the transmitter automatically turns off after approximately ten
minutes from the last pressure of any button.
Before turning off, all LEDs flash and the transmitter vibrates for approximately 15
seconds. Press any key to turn the transmitter on for other ten minutes.
2.3. Deactivation procedure
To deactivate Maximo, follow this procedure.
•Turn off the transmitter by pressing and holding the On/Off button for at least three
seconds, until all the LEDs light up (see figure 2). Releasing the button, the transmitter
turn off. The confirmation of the deactivation is given by the LEDs turning off and the
activation of the receiver's acoustic warning, caused by the failure to communicate.
•Deactivate the receiver by pressing the On/Off boat button.
ATTENTION:
In emergency it is possible to deactivate the Maximo receiver pressing the On/Off
button on the boat without turning the transmitter off.

3. Using the transmitter
DANGER:
The Maximo system should only be used by adults with all the qualifications
necessary for the proper operation and management of the boat.
DANGER:
Before turning on the motors and thrusters, carefully read the instructions in this
manual to understand the different operation in manual and automatic mode.
Once you understand the behavior, proceed with the test in the water in a safe area,
away from boats or other various types of obstacles.
The transmitter has two distinct operating modes: manual and automatic.
The maneuvers that can be performed in manual and automatic mode are shown below. The
activation commands vary according to the presence of the bow thruster only or of both
thrusters (bow and stern).
Press button "A" on the transmitter to enable automatic mode (see figure 4). The choice
between joystick emulation or automatic 2 mode must be set in the advanced user setup.
