■DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
1. Center Panel Assembly
(Time required: About 2 minutes)
1-1 Remove the seven (7) screws marked [70A] and three (3)
screws marked [80A]. (Fig.1)

1-2 Release the two (2) hooks marked [A].
The center panel assembly can then be removed. (Fig.1)
Caution: Be sure to attach the removed filament tape just as it was before removal.

2. Circuit Boards
(Time required: About 4 minutes)
2-1 Remove the center panel assembly. (See procedure 1.)
2-2 Remove the following screws.
Each circuit board can then be removed. (Fig.2, Table.1)

3. Side Panel Assembly L,R
(Time required: About 4 minutes)
3-1 Remove the center panel assembly. (See procedure 1.)
3-2 Remove the four (4) screws marked [70B], the screw
marked [80B] and the screw marked [60].
The side panel assembly can then be removed.(Fig.1)
* The side panel assembly L and R can be removed in the same
manner.
4. Speaker L, R
(Time required: About 5 minutes)
4-1 Remove the center panel assembly. (See procedure 1.)
4-2 Remove the side panel assembly. (See procedure 3.)
4-3 Remove the four (4) screws marked [40].
The speaker can then be removed.(Fig.3)
* The speaker L and R can be removed in the same manner.

5. Disassembling Keyboard Assembly
(Time required: About 13 minutes)
5-1 Remove the center panel assembly. (See procedure 1.)
5-2 Remove the side panel assembly L, R. (See procedure 3.)
5-3 White Keys and Black Keys
5-3-1 White and black keys for one octave unit are integrated
as a set. There are five sets in total. Only the C6 white
key, unlike the other keys, is not integrated in a set. (Fig.4)
5-3-2 To remove a set, remove the two (2) each screws marked
[110A]. The white and black keys in the set can then be
removed. (Fig.4)
When removing, unfasten the two (2) hooks at the back
of the black keys upward, and lift the white and black
keys while pulling them toward you a little. (Photo.1)
5-3-3 To remove the white key C6, remove the screw marked
[110B], unhook as described in Procedure 5-3-2, and pull
out toward you. (Fig.4)
* When all white and black keys were removed, first attach the
white and black keys from C3 to B3 aligning them with the
boss, and then attach the remaining white and black keys.

5-4 Rubber Contact
5-4-1 Remove the white and black keys corresponding to the
rubber contacts to be removed.
(See Fig.4 and Procedure 5-3.)
5-4-2 Remove the rubber contacts. (Photo.2, Fig.5)
5-5 61L Circuit Board
5-5-1 Remove the white and black keys from C1 to B3.
(See Fig.4 and Procedure 5-3.)
5-5-2 Remove the twelve (12) screws marked [90A]. The 61L
circuit board can then be removed. (Fig.5)
5-6 61H Circuit Board
5-6-1 Remove the white and black keys from C4 to C6.
(See Fig.4 and Procedure 5-3.)
5-6-2 Remove the eight (8) screws marked [90B]. The 61H
circuit board can then be removed. (Fig.5)

6. How to Remove Spring Terminals
6-1 Spring Terminal A and Spring Terminal B
(Time required: About 4 minutes each)
6-1-1 Remove the center panel assembly. (See procedure 1.)
6-1-2 Remove the BATT connector assembly soldered to the
spring terminal A and spring terminal B. (Photo.3)
6-1-3 Reverse the instrument and remove the battery cover
assembly. (Fig.1)
6-1-4 Lift the spring terminal A a little and slide it in the upper
right direction to remove it. (Fig.6)
6-1-5 Remove the hook for the spring terminal B to pull it out
from inside. (Fig.6)
6-2 Spring Terminal C and Spring Terminal D
(Time required: About 1 minute each)
6-2-1 Remove the battery cover assembly.
(See procedure 6-1-5.)
6-2-2 Remove the hooks to pull out the spring terminal C and
spring terminal D. (Fig.6, Fig.7)

■DM Circuit Board Test Method
The DM Circuit Board is provided with test points for service check purposes.
Check the test points on the DM Circuit Board if the following symptoms appear.

■TEST PROGRAM
* If the test number 60 “Factory Set” is executed, the data already set will be lost.
1 Preparations
1) Use an AC adaptor PA-3C or PA-130A.
2) Measuring device: Frequency counter, which can detect thousandth value or more, Level meter (with JIS-C filter), Oscilloscope
* Input impedance of the measuring device should be 1 MΩor more.
3) Terminal condition:
Use a stereo plug and connect a load resistor of 33 Ωto the [PHONES/OUTPUT] jack for measurement unless
otherwise specified.
4) Controller settings
Initial setting when the power is turned on
2 Starting up the test program
Manual mode
While holding down the keys [C#2], [F2] and [G#2] simultaneously, press the [STANDBY/ON] switch
Auto mode
While holding down the keys [C#3], [F3] and [G#3] simultaneously, press the [STANDBY/ON] switch.
Executed sequentially from [1] to [7] of auto mode test item.
3 Test procedure
Manual mode
1) When the test program is started, “TST” will be displayed on the 7-segment LED.
2) Press the [Tenkey –] or [Tenkey +] button to select a test program item.
3) Press the [START/STOP] button to execute the test.
If the result is OK or test item is completed, press the [START/STOP] button again to return to the item selection display.
Press the [Tenkey –] or [Tenkey +] button to select the next test item.
In the acceptable selection screen, each character of the item number will be followed by dot “.” on the 7-segment LED,
so that you can see later if it has already been checked.
If the result is NG, press the [SONG/STYLE] button or the lowest key (white key C1) to return to the item selection display.
Auto mode
The operation method follows a manual mode.

Check the output level.
OUTPUT R: -12.5 +/- 2 dBu OUTPUT L: -52.0 dBu or less
12 T12 Connect the level meter (with JIS-C filter) to the [PHONES/OUTPUT] jack. (33Ωload) 6
Check the output level.
OUTPUT R: -52.0 dBu or less OUTPUT L: -12.5 +/- 2 dBu
23 T23 Checks the switches on the panel.
Press the switches as shown in the 7-segment LED.
When a switch is pressed, a sound is played at the prescribed pitch.
(Refer to the switch test item list on the p.19)
Also, check that no key stick is existed.
Confirm that “PAS” is displayed on the 7-segment LED when all the switches are pressed as
indicated.
If more than two switches are pressed at a time, “Ou2” is displayed.
To cancel the running test, press the [SONG/STYLE] button or the lowest key (white key C1)
to return to the item selection display.
24 T24 Confirm that all LEDs turned on. 5
45 T45 Insert the plug of the AC adapter into a DC-IN 12V jack. 7
Confirm that “PAS” is displayed on the 7-segment LED.
55 T55 Checks the ROM connected to the CPU bus. (Full address)
Confirm that “PAS” is displayed on the 7-segment LED.
It will take about 10 seconds for the check.
60 T60 Initializes the entire backup area to reset to the factory default, and turns the power
off.

61 T61 This will leave the test program, reset the system and change to the play mode.
Do not turn off the power until the main screen is displayed.
4 Test program list (dBu=dBm)
•Other Tests
Popping Noise Check
Connect the oscilloscope to the L/R of the [PHONES/OUTPUT] jack and turn on and then off the [STANDBY/ON] switch.
Make sure that popping noise level is 1.0 Vp-p or less, and that no abnormal sound or popping noise is output from the speakers.
Noise Level Check
Connect the level meter (with JIS-C filter) to the L/R of the [PHONES/OUTPUT] jack. (33 Ωload)
Set the [MASTER VOLUME] to the maximum level and check the noise level.
· PHONES L, R: –80.0 dBu or less
Battery Charging Check
Connect the AC adapter to the [DC IN] jack.
Confirm that the unit shall be performed normally, and no voltage is generated between spring terminal A - B.
