Caution-ReadThis Before Ope rating YourSS-30
Place the SS-30 on a solid stand, such as a piano or an Electone Organ to play
it.
Do not place the SS-30 where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, excessive
heat (for instance over a radiator), cold, moisture, or dust.
When connecting the power cord to the socket, do not place many loads on
one electric outlet. Put the cord into the outlet completely after confirming
that the power switch of the instrument is off.

Be careful not to lose the power cord.
Read "Connection Diagram" on page 6 to make connections properly. To
prevent the speaker from breaking, make sure that each power switch is off
when wiring the instrument.
Put the wiring cord in place. To remove the plug, hold the plug firmly to take
itouttopreventthe cordfrombreakingor beingshort-circuited.
Trytoturnoffthepowerswitchafterplaying.
Clean the keyboard, etc., with a dry cloth only. Never use volatile solvents
such as thinner; they will fade or deform the finish.
When the SS-30 must be moved for concert and house-moving, pack it well
enough to withstand any shock. It is recommended that you keep the card-
board boxes and packing used for the SS-30 you bought so that you may use
them for such an occasion.

At that time put the power cord in the boxes.
If you will find any trouble, check for each connection of the device again.
If it is found difficult to mend it for all that, contact the YAMAHA dealer from
whom you purchased your instrument or any other YAMAHA dealers
nearby. (Never touch the inside circuitry.)

How to Use SS-30
7 KBD. SPLIT
Switch i ng th i s section changes the posi -
tion of tones of Cello and Viol i n systems.
There are marks on the keyboard (t he
panel
) so that each point of 1, 2, and

Position 0: The whole keyboard wi

chords of the Cello and melodies of Vio-

6 SUSTAIN
The clockwise turn of t he SUSTAIN pro-
duces sustain effect of the Cello and
Viol i n Systems. I t permits a longer susta i n
time after releasing the key as you turn the
knob to clockwise d
i rection.
1 POWER
I nsert the power cord plug i nto the AC
wa ll outlet, depress the .switch and power
is turned on. To turn off the power,
depress it again.
2 PILOT LAMP
This lamp i ndicates the power is on.
3 PITCH
Used to tune the i nstrument to the
i nterva l of other i nstruments. Counter-
clockwise turn gives you l ower i nterval
and clockwise turn, higher
i nterval.
4 DETUNE
Produces a richer sound by giving a
beating sound. The center l ocation of the
knob m i n i mizes the beat.
5 VIBRATO
DEPTH: The i ntensity of vi brato effect
becomes deeper as i t is turned
clockwise.
If it is kept a ll the
way to the left l ocation, the
vibrato effect is not produced.
DELAY: Clockwise turn of the Delay
gradual
l y delays the time unti l the
vibrato effect is produced
after
the key is pressed.

8 CELLO
CELLO 1, CELLO 2 :
I t enables you to select any
sounds you like.
ATTA
CK: With this tablet switch on,
the rise of the Cello sounds
will be softened.
VOLUME: This adjusts the volume of
the Cel
l o system to balance
that of the Viol
i n system.
9 VIOLIN
VIOLA, V I OLIN 1, V I OLIN 2:
You can select an y sound you
like.
ATTACK: With this tablet switch on, the
rise of the sounds of the Vio-
li n system wi ll be softened.
10 BRILLIA NCE
CELLO, V I OLIN :
The clockwise turn of the

11 VOLUME
This adjusts the overa ll volume. Set i t

12 ORCHESTRA

an ORCHESTRA effect can
be obtained at its respective
tone.
SPEED 1,2:
1: Provides an Orchestra effect

er speed to add a rich
