(AUTOACCOMPANIMENT)
A different accompaniment style can be selected at any time
while the accompaniment is playing. The style number display
will change as soon as the selection is made, but the new style
will begin playback from the top of the next measure. The tempo
will not change when the new style begins playing.
TheNORMALandBRIDGEVariations
Eachstylehastwo main variations — NORMAL and
BRIDGE.Ifthe [NORMAL]or[BRIDGE]button is
pressedwhile the rhythm isplaying, the corresponding
variationwillbeginfrom the topofthe next measure.You
canalsoselect[NORMAL]or[BRIDGE]before starting
theaccompaniment.
StartingtheAccompanimentwithan
Introduction
Any ofthe PSR-400/PSR-500accompaniment patterns
can bestartedwith an appropriateintroduction by pressing
the[INTRO]button and then the [START/STOP]button.
Once the[INTRO]button ispressed,the [INTRO]indi-
catorwill belit continuously and the [NORMAL]or
[BRIDGE] indicator willflash toindicatewhich variation
willplay when theintroduction hasfinished. Youcan
change the "destination"variation by pressingthe[NOR-
MAL] or[BRIDGE]button while itsindicatorisflashing.
When the introduction ends, the [INTRO]indicatorwill
goout and the [NORMAL] or[BRIDGE] indicatorwill
light continuously.
It is possible to start the accompaniment from any variation —
even the ending — by pressing the corresponding button prior to
pressing the [START/STOP] button. The destination [NORMAL]
or [BRIDGE] variation can be selected in the normal way.
If the [INTRO], [FILL IN1], [FILL IN 2], or [ENDING] pattern is
selected prior to pressing the [START/STOP] button and then
the same button is pressed again or the currently flashing [NOR-
MAL] or [BRIDGE] button is pressed, its indicator will go out and
the destination [NORMAL] or [BRIDGE] pattern indicator will light
continuously. Once started the accompaniment will then begin
directly from the NORMAL or BRIDGE pattern.
The [INTRO] button can be used to select the introduction
pattern even while the accompaniment is playing.
Adding Fill-ins
The PSR-400and PSR-500 providetwo types offill-ins
(rhythmic variations) — one which leadstotheNORMAL
variation and one which leadstothe BRIDGE variation.
Pressthe [FILLIN 1]button at any time while the accom-
paniment isplaying toadd a shortfill-in and goto(or
return to)the NORMAL variation, orpressthe [FILLIN
2]button toadda short fill-in and goto(orreturn to)the
BRIDGE variation.
The [NORMAL] indicator will flash while FILLIN 1
plays, and the [BRIDGE] indicator willflashwhile FILL
IN 2 plays. You canchange the variationthat willbegin
playing after the fill-inby pressingthe desiredvariation
button while the indicator isstillflashing.
If you hold the[FILLIN 1]or[FILLIN 2]button, the
fill-in pattern will repeatuntil the button isreleased,then
theNORMAL orBRIDGE variationwill beginfrom the
beginning ofthe next measure.
If the [FILL IN 1] or [FILL IN 2] button is pressed during the last
1/4-note of a measure, the fill in will begin from the first beat of
the next measure. If pressed at any other time the fill-in will
begin immediately.
It is also possible to start the accompaniment with a fill-in by
pressing the desired FILL IN button prior to pressing the
[START/STOP] button. The destination [NORMAL] or [BRIDGE]
variation can be selected in the normal way.
StoppingtheAccompaniment
An accompaniment inprogresscanbestoppedimmedi-
atelyby pressingthe[START/STOP]button orthe
[SYNC-STARTON/OFF— RHYTHM STOP]button.In
thelattercasethesynchro startmode will beengaged
when the accompaniment stops.The accompanimentcan
alsobestoppedwith an appropriateendingby pressingthe
[ENDING]button.
The ending will begin from the first beat of the next measure.
If the [FILL IN 1] or [FILL IN 2] button is pressed while the ending
pattern is playing, a fill-in will be played, followed by a return to
the normal or bridge pattern.
