1 PREPARATIONS
1.1 Unpacking
This scanner is working with a high-performance reflector-system.
During unpacking please avoid any fingerprints or scratches on the reflector.
In case you will find any dirt on the reflector (mirror), please observe the Zeutschel
cleaning recommendation in the “user manual” (TS-0366E) before start cleaning.
1.2 Components
The delivery consists of the following components (see Fig. 1 and Fig.2):
1. OT 2 – book cradle with power cord
2. column (red) with drive unit
3. Scan unit with SCSI-Terminator
4. Dongle
5. Software CD-ROM
6. Installation- and user manuals
7. Foot pedal (2x book cradle, 1x exposure)

1.3 Location
• Do not put the scanner under a direct source of light
• Direct sun light has to be avoided
• A location with indirect illumination is recommended
• The table-top unit has to be put on a sturdy table
.
1.4 Required tools
• Hexagon key 5mm
• Combination wrench 7mm
• Combination wrench 12mm
• Combination wrench 17mm
• cotton gloves (for the installation of the reflector
• Phillips screwdriver

2 INSTALLATION OF THE SCANNER
2.1 First steps
For the installation of the OS10000 TT, at least two people are required.
Do not lift up the unit by using the handle of the glass plate!
Do not unscrew the screws at the column!
• Take the unit out of the case.
• Put the book cradle on a table or a suitable base.
2.2 Fixing the column
• Place the column at the rear side against the book-cradle.
• Install the 4 allen screws [8] at the back side of the book cradle like shown in
Fig. 3 (Do not yet fix the screws too firmly!)
• Insert the two dowel-pins carefully (Fig. 3, horizontal arrows) into the marked
drill holes [9]. If necessary, drive them carefully in with a hammer
• Tighten the four allen screws firmly.

2.3 Fixing the scan unit (reflector)
Fig. 4 shows the drive unit before the installation of the reflector, Fig. 5 after the
installation
• The reflector [10] has to be installed with two persons. It should be moved
over the fixing plate [11] at the drive unit [12] by turning it a little bit from front to
back.
• Do not touch the mirror’s surface with your fingers, support it at the metal
frame!
• Slide the four threaded pins into the designated holes [13] at fixing plate.
• The reflector should be positioned downwards until it touches the supporting
edge [14]

Installation
• Install the 4 nuts [15] at the threaded pins of the reflector and tighten them like
shown in Fig. 6 and Fig 7.

2.4 Checking the position of the glide runners
The glide runners [16] should glide properly down the support rails. Please check
the position after each transport / installation of the scanner.

2.5 Connecting the cables at the scanner
2.5.1 SCSI cable
• Connect the SCSI cable [17] to the socket of the SCSI terminator [18] at the
rear left-hand side of the reflector and tighten the fixing screws manhandled
(Fig.8).
• Do not use a screw driver, the fixing screws might be damaged!
• Fix the strain relief [19] (metal plate) with the two M3 fixing screws [20] at the
bracket below the SCSI terminator (Fig. 9).

2.5.2 Control cable (SubD) and power supply cable (AMP)
• Plug in the white AMP plug [21] and the 25 pin SubD plug [22] at the rear right-
hand side of the reflector. Tighten the fixing screws at the SubD manhandled
(Fig. 10).
• Do not use a screw driver, the fixing screws might be damaged!
• Fix the strain relief [23] (metal plate) with the two M4 fixing screws [24] at the
bracket below the SubD socket (Fig. 11).

2.6 Adjusting the support screw
• The support screw [25] at the back side of the column should be adjusted to
avoid waggling of the book cradle on the table (Fig. 12).
• After unfixing the counter nut [26] the support screw can be adjusted with a
combination wrench 12mm by turning it up- or downwards.
• Turn the adjustment screw upwards until it is levitating. Then turn it downwards
until it hits the table and stabilizes the book cradle against waggling.
• You should avoid lifting the scanner with the adjustment screw, it should only
support the book cradle!
• Tighten the counter nut finally.

2.7 Connections to the PC
The scanner PC should have the following configuration:

• Connect the SCSI cable [27] to the SCSI controller socket at your PC (Adaptec
39320-R)
• Connect the foot pedal (exposure) to the COM-1 interface [28] of your PC (9
pin SubD connector)

2.8 Connecting the foot pedals
• Connect the foot pedals “glass plate up” and “glass plate down” [29] at the rear
side of the book cradle (refer to blue resp. red color margins).
• To avoid unwanted disconnection of the cables, the round plugs have a thread.
Please tighten them manhandled
2.9 Connecting the power cords
• Connect the power cord [30] to the drive unit at the appropriate socket at the
back side of the book cradle
• Connect the power cord [31] to the appropriate socket at the back side of the
book cradle and the other end to a mains socket
The scanner might be operated at 220-230V AC at 50/60 Hz only!
For other voltages use a power converter!
• For switching on and off the power of the scanner use the mains switch [32]

First start
3 FIRST START
Please verify again the correct installation of the scanner hardware and the
connections of the cables before starting the scanner the first time!
3.1 Application hints for switching on and off the scanner
• When the scanner is not operated for a longer period, you should switch off the
mains switch. During short brakes (i. e. several minutes) it is not recommended
to switch off the scanner
• When starting the scanner, switch on the scanner mains switch first and then
boot up your PC
• When switching the scanner off, you should always shut down first your PC
and then switch off the scanner’s mains switch
• When the scanner is under power, you will hear a low fan noise coming from
the drive unit
