Installation and Operating Instructions
1. Security Ad ice:
Caution:
Please read the com lete documentation carefully before starting the set-u o eration!
1.1. De ending on the ty e of a lication danger will be caused by:
-Contusion during installation caused by unsecured connecting construction
-Im ro er neumatic connections
-Malfunction of neumatic su ly caused by ressure fluctuations or excessive heating
-Loose neumatic connection
-Loose attachment screws
-removal of the s ring ca
-Not turning off the o erating instrument during installation or re air works at the clam ing element
-Human mal ractice
-Non-observance of the information and warning facilities during installation and the set-u o eration
Installation instructions have to be followed and the necessary equi ment and su lies have to be used during installation,
modifications, maintenance and re air. Throughout every working rocess on the clam ing elements the a ro riate
accident revention regulations, VDE security and installation instructions have to be followed.
1.2. The a lication of the clam ing elements – in accordance with regulations – im lies that this technology will be utilized
exclusively in consideration of the realm of ossibilities defined by technical s ecification. All different ways of use exclude
further liability of the Zimmer GmbH.
2. Model MK/MKR (without spring storage), MKS/MKRS (inc. spring storage)
The clam ing element is reset to the a ro riate track gauge ex factory. The contact sections are ressed onto the non-
attached areas of the track guide. Therefore, the rocess of clam ing does not influence the recision and the economic
lifetime of the track.
2.1. O erational Area:
The MK/MKS models are designed for static use. The additional ressurizing on the side of the iston rod, termed as PLUS-
connection from now on, can increase the clam ing ower significantly (see 3.).
-
max. surrounding tem erature 70°C
-
neumatic o erating ressure min. 5.5 bar, max. 8 bar
-
check-u of all neumatic connections in regular intervals
Caution:
Clam ing rocesses during o eration may cause damage of the clam ing element as well as the linear guide.
3. MKS and MKS-Plus-Version
The model MKS can be o erated as a lain s ring storage element or as a ressure su orted s ring re ository element
(PLUS-connection). The clam ing ower can be increased significantly by the ressure su orted s ring storage.
Fig. 1 Diagram of Connection
3.1. For a trans ortation lock, the s ring energy storage is re-stressed by a s acer between the contact sections.
Caution:
It is permitted to remo e the transportation lock, only if the air connection is pneumatically pressurized to at least 5.5
bar according to instructions.
It is permitted to release pressure from the clamping element, only if an associated guide rail or a transportation lock
exists!
4. PLUS-Version
The a lication of the PLUS-Version strictly requires the removal of the air filter. The connection has to be re laced with a
neumatic connection.
5. Installation Instructions
5.1. General:
For mounting the clam ing elements, used screws have to com ly with the category of solidity of min. 8.8.
Attachment screws have to be tightened with the required moment. (Tab.1)
The maximum holding load is reached only by a rigid connection construction which must cover the com lete
connection surface of the clam ing element.
Caution: The cap of the security clamping must not be remo ed, spring storage!
5.2. Installation / Uninstalling:
-
Removal of the lastic blanking lug
-
Attachment of M5 neumatic connections, ossibly attachment of PLUS-connection
-
ressurize air connection to o en the clam ing element
-
Set clam ing element onto linear guide
-
In case of using an ada ter late PMK, lace this ada ter late between the clam ing element and the connecting
construction as a device of leveling
-
Turn the screws loosely into the screw threads
-

6. Operational Test
6.1. After the a ro riate installation of the clam ing element the o erating readiness has to be tested
The mobility has to be tested by manually moving the slide.
The rocess of clam ing has to be tested by manually moving the connecting construction.
The a ro riate mounting of the fixed and flexible neumatic i e installation has to be tested by visual control.
All neumatic connections at the ressurized element have to be visually checked for leakage.
All attachment screws have to be checked for their required moment (Tab.1).
6.2. Readjusting
After appropriate installation, readjusting will not be necessary because the contact sections are preset ex factory.
O en the clam ing element
Tighten adjustment screws clockwise until the contact section suits. (su lies, ada ter)
Caution: Both adjustment screws have to be screwed in identically and subsequently have to be screwed back to an angle
of 15°.
Start o erational test.
