INSTALLATION CHECKLIST
Before installation
• Read the instructions and check if there is adequate space to install all of the components.
• Note Not all fittings are supplied with the appliance kit. Isolation valves are not supplied.
• Check the mains water pressure is within min / max requirements (see page 8).
• Check the water quality to determine if extra filtration will be required.
• Note This product must be fitted to a wholesome water supply.
• Check the Command Centre rating plate and ensure correct power is available.
• Check the under counter cupboard floor supporting the Command Centre is adequate for its total weight, when
full of water.
Before commissioning
• Check the system has been installed correctly.
• Check all plumbing fittings have been tightened.
• Ensure the outlet and vent pipes are positioned to drain correctly.
• Ensure there is adequate ventilation.
• Check all tubes and pipes from the Command Centre to the tap have a constant rise and there are no sags or
kinks in the hoses.
• Check all electrical connections are correct and there are no loose wires.
Commission (see section 4)
• Flush the supply line before connecting.
• Turn on the water and check for leaks.
• Flush the filter.
• Purge the system.

What is the Zip HydroTap?
This Zip HydroTap is an electronically controlled, filtered, boiling (and ambient) water drinking system for the kitchen.
The HydroTap systems are under counter drinking water appliances with a dispensing tap mounted on a sink or
worktop, which has been designed for residential applications. The HydroTap utilises an immersion heating element
to boil the water. These boiling models will dispense boiling water (factory set to 98°C). These units are NOT
designed to be used as sanitary fixtures.
The Zip HydroTap models are fitted with a tap mounted safety lock. In addition, there is a sleep mode option. The
water filter is a disposable item which will require periodic replacement and is covered by a limited OEM warranty.
It is important that the installation be undertaken safely, correctly and completely in order to utilise all the benefits
that the HydroTap can provide.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
This manual contains important safety and installation instructions for the Zip HydroTap.
Please read all warnings, installation requirements and installation instructions before
installing any Zip HydroTap. This system must be installed in accordance with water
supply byelaws, current IEE regulations and relevant local authority byelaws.
Safety
This appliance is not intended for use by children under 8 years. Or persons (including
children under 8 years) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack
of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play
with the appliance.
Qualifications
If the power cable is damaged it must be repaired only by a qualified technician. To avoid hazards, all installation
procedures must be carried out by a suitably qualified tradesperson. The power cable and power outlet must be in a
safe visible position for connection.
Venting
Sometimes steam and / or boiling water may discharge through a vent outlet on the tap. If the tap is not installed
using the font, ensure the tap body is located so the tap outlet & vent safely dispense into the sink bowl area.
Lifting
Take care when lifting. The Command Centre may exceed safe lifting limits. If you feel this is beyond your personal
capabilities, please seek assistance with the lift. Do not lift the Command Centre by the front cover or any of its
connections. Refer to the technical specification, see page 8,for the weight of the product.
Airflow
The Zip HydroTap operates within the ambient temperature range 5ºC - 35ºC. Proper air circulation must be
provided. The system will operate satisfactorily only if the recommended air gaps are provided. See Section 1
Ventilation, page 10, for correct installation to prevent overheating.
Frost protection
If the HydroTap is located where the ambient air temperature could fall below 5ºC when the heater is not in use, do
not turn off the appliance electrically. This safeguard does not offer the same protection to the connecting pipework
and fittings.o
Positioning
It is important to ensure the Command Centre is positioned in an accessible area close to the floor level. The
Command Centre must have it’s base mounted in a horizontal position with all inlets and outlets facing up. The tap
must be located above the Command Centre. See Section 3, Command Centre installation
Warnings
• The Zip HydroTap must be earthed. The resistance of the earth connection from each
exposed metal part must be less than 1Ω.
• All installation and service work must be completed by trained and suitably qualified

INSTALLATION CHECKLIST
• tradespeople. Faulty operation due to unqualified persons working on this product, or any other Zip product
may void warranty coverage.
• As the installer, it is your responsibility to supply (if necessary) and install all valves as required by local
regulations and relevant standards.
• The HydroTap is rated for 230V 50Hz AC operation.
• Do not remove the cover of the appliance under any circumstances without first isolating the appliance from
the power supply.
• Never locate the Command Centre near, or clean with water jets.
• Do not expose the Zip HydroTap to the elements of nature.

BEFORE INSTALLATIONS
Before installation ensure that the following have been
provided at the installation site
• Review of all the technical specifications.
• Ensure the under counter cupboard floor can support the product weight when full
of water (allow an extra 2Kg when full).
• Sufficient space in the cupboard to install the Command Centre and other
components in accordance with these installation instructions. See technical
specification, page 8 for dimensions. See sections 2 to 3, pages 11 to 14 for
installation instructions.
• For all Zip HydroTap models 1 x 220-240V AC 13A socket will be required.
• The Command Centre must be installed in accordance with IEE regulations. See
Technical specification, page 8 for power ratings.
Note Check all cable and hose lengths against inlet /outlet positions before
proceeding (see sections 2 to 3, pages 11 to 14 for general layout).
• A wholesome water supply connection with isolating valve inside the cupboard
within reach of the braided hoses (Celsius models) and positioned so that the
connection point and the stop cock will not be obstructed when the Command
Centre is installed.
• Extra space for external filtration system.
• A potable cold water supply with a minimum working pressure of:
(see page 8 min. / max. water supply pressure).
• For the Celsius range, an external hot water supply will also be required.
• The 0.5 MPa (5 bar) pressure limiting valve (supplied) must be fitted.
• The appliance must be placed with its base in a horizontal position.
IMPORTANT! Do not proceed with the installation if these requirements are not met.

SECTION1 VENTILATION
!
1.1 Ventilation for all models
• The clearance envelope dimensions stated in the specification sheets and installation instructions must be
observed.
• Adequate ventilation must be provided to ensure that the cupboard space temperature does not exceed 350C.
1.2 Preferred arrangement
• 4mm door buffers (at the four corners of each door) supplied with the Command Centre should be used to
provide adequate ventilation in normal usage, see illustration below.

• Ensure that the mains cold water supply is
turned off.
• Choose a suitable location, (cupboard back or
side wall).
• Mount the filter head in an upright position,
using the screws supplied in the fittings kit.
• Ensure there is enough headroom for the
filter cartridge to be easily fitted and removed.
*Allow a min. 80mm base clearance.

diagram (see section 3), noting the flow
directions as marked on the filter head and
non return valve (see sections 3).

2.1 Installing the filter system
• The ¼” pipe supplied must be carefully measured and cut to allow for the connection
of the filter,valves and Command Centre.
• Flush water through the supply line thoroughly before connection
• Connect the pressure limiting valve to the isolating valve (not supplied).
• Mount the filter head and connect the stop cock in a convenient position.
• Connect the filter assembly plumbing between the pressure limiting valve and the
inlet of the Command Centre, using the ¼” tubes supplied. (ensure that the non
return valve is fitted) (see individual model arrangements pages 13-14).
• Note the flow direction, arrowed on the top of the filter head & non return valve.
• Ensure the flush stop cock is accessible after installation, this is required to flush
water through the filter, when the filter is installed or changed.
• Writethedateofreplacementonthenewltercartridgelabel.
• Removetheprotectiveplasticcapfromtheltercartridge,lubricateo-rings with
water. (Do not use any petroleum products to lubricate the o-rings).
• Alignthetabsofthecartridgewiththelterheadandinsertitupintothelterhead.
• Turn the cartridge a quarter turn anti-clockwise until it stops and locks into position.
Note Read and undertake in conjunction with the Command Centre installation, see Section 3.
The external filter is a sub-micron scale filter designed to reduce scale build up in the tank, which also includes a
carbon block to improve taste and odour.

!Read Important safety instructions, page 6 and Ventilation, page 10 before you start the installation.
• Position the Command Centre as close as possible to directly beneath the tap head.
• The braided hoses (Celsius range) and connection tubes supplied with the tap head assembly and cold inlet
CANNOT be lengthened.
2.4 Connecting the tap (refer to individual model arrangements pages 13-14)
• Measure and trim the RED silicone tube and connect it to the boiling water outlet located on the top of the
Command Centre.
• Measure and trim the BLUE plastic pipe and connect it to the ambient outlet located on the top of the Command
Centre (ambient models only).
• Measure and trim the CLEAR silicone tube and connect it to the vent outlet located on the top of the Command
Centre.
• For Celsius, connect the braided hoses (1/2" BSP fittings), see page 14.
Red marking - hot mains isolation valve.
Blue marking - cold mains isolation valve via T-piece and adaptor supplied.
• Connect the tap USB connector to the USB port on the Command Centre. Orient the USB plug carefully and
connect, do not force the plug. Once connected, fix the cable to the wall, ensure it is away from any possible
water splashes and is off the floor.
Note When trimming silicon tubes, trim to minimum length, do not loop any excess or allow kinking of the tubes.
When connecting, slide the tube over the pipe at least 15mm.

SECTION 4 COMMISSIONING
• Secure all pipes and cables.
• After the system is correctly installed and connected, turn the incoming mains cold water supply ON.
• Check all connections for leaks. Repair as necessary, again turn the incoming mains cold water supply ON and
then the mains electricity supply. Switch the ON the Command Centre.
The HydroTap is now ready to be commissioned.
• Familiarise yourself with the operation of the tap, in preparation for use, see section 5.

4.1 Filter flush
• When commissioning and following filter replacement, it is advisable to flush
the filter for several minutes to remove any fine filter particles or accumulated
plumbing debris. Use a bucket to collect and dispose of the waste water. To
flush the filter.
• Isolate the power to the HydroTap.
• Turn ON the water supply.
• Turn ON the filter flush stop cock and discharge a minimum of 10 litres of
water into a bucket.
• Turn OFF the stop cock.
• Re-energise the power supply to the HydroTap.
4.2 System flush WARNING! Ensure all sanitising residue is flushed out prior to use.
Whenthelterushhasbeencompleted,ushthesystemoftrappedairandsanitisationresiduebydispensing
waterfromthetapuntilitowswithoutanyfurtherspluttering.Dispenseatleast3litresofwaterandcheckthewater
is clear with no soapy looking bubbles from the residue of the factory sanitisation process.
4.3 Filter replacement
For safe operation, the filter cartridge should be replaced at least every 6-12 months, or
earlier if you notice a persistent reduction in water pressure from the tap or an unpleasant
taste or odour in the water.
For safe operation, thoroughly flush the water through after periods of non-use longer than
12 hours. Not changing the filter cartridges when required may cause the water to become
biologically unsafe.
• Isolate the HydroTap from the power and water supply.
• Locate the filter in the under-sink cupboard.
• Grasptheltercartridgermlyandtwistithorizontallyaquarterturnclockwiseuntilit
stops. (Water will drip from the filter head during the replacement process so have a
bucket and towel handy to catch and mop up any spills).
• Gentlyeasethecartridgedownwardstodetachitfromthelterhead,thenpullitoutand
discard responsibly. Take care not to tip it up once free as water may spill out.
• Writethedateofreplacementonthenewltercartridgelabel.
• Remove the protective plastic cap, and lubricate the o-rings, (with water) .
The insertion method is the opposite to the removal method. Align the tabs of the
replacementcartridgewiththelterheadandinsertitupintothelterhead.
• Turn the cartridge a quarter turn anti-clockwise until it locks into position.
• Whenthelterreplacementhasbeencompletedushthelterandpurgethesystemof
air by dispensing water for 2 minutes (after any spluttering has stopped).
• Resettheltercounterfromthetap,seesection5.

5.1 HydroTap Arc and Cube boiling ambient tap operation
On powerup, for Boiling Ambient models, select either red
illuminated BOILING with safety, or blue illuminated AMBIENT
water mode, by touching the select button.
The Arc / Cube control may be rotated in a forward or reverse
direction to dispense boiling or ambient water.
The rotary control is spring loaded in the forward direction and
when released, will return to the OFF position.
When rotated in the reverse direction the tap operates in a POT
FILL mode for a fixed period. To reset, return the control to the
OFF position and repeat the step. The control has to be manually
returned to the OFF position.
When unattended, the control light will automatically default to the
AMBIENT(blue illuminated) mode after a short period.
To dispense boiling water
Touch the select button until the indicator, select and safety buttons illuminate
red, then touch the safety button twice until the three red lights flash (the lights
will flash for approx. 2 seconds if the tap control is not rotated, then the select,
safety and indicator lights will return to continually illuminated red.
After a short period the select and indicator lights will return to continually
illuminated blue as a safety precaution).
Boiling water may be dispensed by rotating the control while the three red
illuminated lights are flashing.
While dispensing boiling water, all three red illuminated lights will continue to
flash.
To dispense ambient water
Rotating the control when the indicator light is illuminated blue allows the
dispensing of AMBIENT water.
If illuminated red, touch the select button until the indicator light illuminates blue,
then rotate the control as above.

Sleep mode
In SLEEP MODE the unit will Go to “Sleep” after 2 hrs of inactivity. During sleep mode water temperature is set to
68°C. To wake from sleep mode, first tap the safety twice and then turn the rotary control.
The sleep mode setting can be enabled or disabled. To toggle the sleep mode setting:
• Touch the SELECT button to select boiling water mode with safety.
• Hold the rotary control in either direction for 10 seconds to cause the tap to enter its ‘settings mode’. This is
easiest done by turning it clockwise and utilising the taps POT FILL mode. Successfully entering this mode will
cause the select and safety lights to slowly flash alternative colours at a slow rate. In this mode water cannot be
dispensed.
• Return the rotary control to its centre position.
• Press and hold the safety button for 3 seconds. Successfully performing this will cause the all three lights to
flash alternative colours at a rapid rate for 8 seconds.
• Before exiting the ‘settings mode’ the tap will show the current sleep mode setting.
• If the sleep mode was just enabled, the safety and select lights will simultaneously flash red and blue
respectively.
• If the sleep mode was just disabled, the safety and select lights will alternatively flash red.
• By default the sleep mode setting is disabled.
Red boiling water light
Continually illuminated
This indicates that the boiling water is ready to be dispensed.
Flashing slowly
This indicates Sleep Mode is active.
Flashing quickly
This indicates the boiling water is below usable temperature and the Sleep Mode is OFF.
White filter light
Filter light off
This indicates the filter is operating within its normal specified lifespan.
Filter light flashing slowly
This indicates the filter needs to be replaced. All three lights will start to flash when the counters have recorded 12
months of use or after dispensing 4000 litres, whichever occurs first.
To reset the filter light
• Touch the SELECT button to select boiling water mode with safety.
• Hold the rotary control in either direction for 10 seconds to cause the tap to enter its SETTINGS MODE. This is
easiest done by turning it clockwise and utilising the taps POT FILL mode. Successfully entering this mode will
cause the select and safety lights to slowly flash alternative colours at a slow rate. In this mode water cannot be
dispensed.
• Return the rotary control to its centre position.
• Tap the safety button 4 times. Successfully performing this will cause all three lights to flash alternative colours at
a rapid rate for 15 seconds.
• The tap will exit its ‘settings mode’ and return to normal operation. The filter flash sequence should now not occur
indicating the filter counter has been successfully reset.

Warning lights
When both Filter and Boiling water lights are flashing , the system has experienced a fault. Turn the power to the
Command Centre OFF for at least 15 minutes. When the power is turned ON the system may revert to normal
operation. If all the lights continue to flash then there is a system fault which must be rectified by an authorised
service agent.
USING THE BOILING CELSIUS TAPS
5.2 HydroTap Celsius tap operation The Celsius tap is only configured to dispense boiling water
when used with the Command Centre.
To dispense boiling water
Touch the red illuminated safety button twice, it will flash for a few
seconds. While the safety lock is flashing turn the rotary control
anticlockwise or clockwise as shown in the adjacent diagram.
The integral safety lock cannot be disabled.

To dispense mixed hot and cold water
The mixer tap lever is operated as a conventional ‘flick mixer’. The hot
direction is marked with a red dot and the cold direction with a blue dot,
for dispensing cold to warm water.
Moving the lever towards the tap will decrease the flow rate and moving
the lever away from the tap will increase the flow rate.
When the lever is moved in the direction of the blue dot, the temperature
is decreased and when moved in the direction of the red dot, the
temperature is increased. The final temperature will be dependant on the
temperature of the incoming cold water. The spout may be swivelled, left
or right, for convenience.
Tap lights
The red illuminated warning light will flash slowly for 1 second ON and 4 seconds OFF whenever the water is not at
the temperature set point. The tap may be operated, but the water may not be at the desired temperature . The slow
flashing light will turn off once the water reaches the set point. The set point temperature is user adjustable.

Filter warning light
As a reminder that the filter requires changing, the indicator light will perform a sequence of quick white flashes
every 10 seconds. (Refer to section 4.3 Filter replacement).
Filter reset
The internal filter counter and the flashing indicator light will need to be reset after the filter has been replaced. To
do this:
• Hold the rotary control in either direction for 10 seconds to cause the tap to enter its ‘settings mode’.
Successfully entering this mode will cause the warning and safety lights to slowly flash alternative colours at a
slow rate. In this mode water cannot be dispensed.
• Release the rotary control so it returns to its neutral position.
• Tap the safety button 4 times. Successfully performing this will cause the warning and safety lights to flash
alternative colours at a rapid rate for 15 seconds.
• The tap will exit its ‘settings mode’ and return to normal operation. The indicator light should now not be flashing
white indicating the filter counter has been successfully reset
Fault Warning Lights
If there is a fault with the system, both the safety light and the warning light will flash for 1/2 second ON and 1/2
second OFF until the fault is rectified. Call Zip on 0345 6 005 005.
Sleep mode

seconds to show that sleep mode is active. During sleep mode, water temperature is set to 68°C. To wake from
