Preamble
Respected users, sincerely thank you for the use of the products of ZKS, Please read the manual and understand the
basic structure of the product, performance, function and master basic knowledge about installation, using,
maintenance and management of the terminal.
ZKS terminals has been adopting with the most advanced technology identification (RF / Fingerprint Identification),
equipped with the controller alone, attendance doors to achieve integration, patented design and an unique wall
hanging generous beautiful structure. They are flexible in the allocation of various identification methods, such as
encoding recognition, fingerprint identification, identification numbers + code, information.
Fingerprint time attendance system ZKS-T 3 is an innovative stand-alone fingerprint recorder that can be used mainly
in time attendance application. We can also supply you with its access control function, but it is only an optional
function according to your requests. It is adopted with the northern Korean industrialized design with refined fashion,
integrates ZKS attendance management software, low price with good performance, designed specially in the
purpose of popularizing the fingerprint products. It will bring you much boon because of its excellent function and
competitive price.
The terminal can communicate with its software through RS 3 or RS485 and TCP/IP. And by RS485 communication,
the distance can be as far as 1 00 meters and the connecting nets can be 31 nets as the most.The capacity of nets
can reach 55 units via TCP/IP communication In addition, we supply with a USB interface, with which you can
transmit the data between the machine and PC and software conveniently. It can work with fingerprint, password,
card, fingerprint+ card, fingerprint +password for high security and precision. It could store 3000 fingerprint templates,
and 80000 transaction records. For the storage of 3000 fingerprint templates, every can register 3 fingers, and even
can register 10 fingers. And In the menu, besides English there are several other languages can be used, such as
French, Spanish, Czech, Indonesian, Portuguese, Turkish and so on.
Terminal supports with optional functions of embedded proximity of HID of Mifare card reader, backup battery. The
false acceptance rate and the truth rejection rate are both very low. With its high recognition rate, high reliability,
stability, long life, large-capacity attendance record, high precision clock, and reasonable structure of device, it is
widely applied to factory, office, bank, hotel, school and so on.

1.3 System introduction
1.3.1 Brief introduction
T&A system is divided into two parts: Terminal and T&A (Time and Attendance) management software.
Terminals primarily are responsible for day-to-day T&A, building card files. You can keep communication between
terminal and management software after plugging terminal to power supply and linking it to network.
Access database management software, in which manager can establish staff files and other information to terminal
by RS 3 /RS485 and TCP/IP. And manage can also upload logs from terminal to management software for analyzing
report of shift. In addition, the USB interface makes data transmission between terminal and software more
convenient
And the software supply path to SQL 000.
Terminal and management software can be communicated by RS 3 /485 and TCP/IP.
1.3. Users register fingerprint.
First of all, users establish an ID No. and then under this ID No., register your finger by pressing the same finger for
three times. Terminal will get the character of your finger under that ID No., and store it into fingerprint memory. When
verifying, Terminal identifies status by comparing the current finger with previous registered one.
Under the same ID No., one user can register three different fingerprints, and even can register 10 fingers.

1.3.3 Two kinds of users
The users include administrators and general users:
1.3.3.1 Administrators:
Those who are authorized to operate all the procedures on the terminal, browse the deleted or recorded data,
browse the system information and set up functions and environment. Since the administrators have the right to
manage all the procedure on the machine, it is important for him to remember his password firmly, it is troublesome if
it is forgotten by carelessness. Please contact with the manufacture if that happens
1.3.3. General users:
General users are the users who can only press their fingers or wipe their cards or input their passwords to leave
their logs. If they verify by finger, then they can press their fingers on the sensor directly or input their ID number first,
then press their fingers. If verify by password, they should first input their ID number, and then input their password to
verify.
1.4 Terminal maintenance
Please pay attention to the following items
(1). Please clean dust on the sensor first of all;
( ). Please wipe sensor with clean tampon;
(3). Please don’t wash sensor with water, alcohol and other lotion;
(4).Please don’t press sensor with force.
1.5 Work principle
1.5.1 Fingerprint T&A
Fingerprint terminals receive digital signals through fingerprint image recording equipment recognition memory, as
well as external equipment (such as locks, door buttons and other equipment) controller.
It is the Irreplaceable fingerprint character that shows one’s status, Fingerprint sensors capture the human finger
and then combine fingerprint image acquisition with software, every one could register ten fingerprints. And the
fingerprints images are made into corresponding encrypt documents stored in the machine.
When staffs put their fingers onto the sensor, sensor will compare the fingerprint put on just now with the original
image of the register, so it is very important for us to register the good fingerprint at first. It will show successful if
fingerprints are accordant, or else, there are some differences between them, such as, too dry, too wet, too dirty,
exposed skin or so on (see pictures below). In order to avoid this situation, we’d better to register other two backup
fingers. And for fingerprint registering, the recommendation of the fingers: the thumb, index finger and middle

After staff put their fingers onto sensor, their info of fingers and time of T&A are recorded into terminal and then
transmit their info from terminal to computer by appropriate modes, such as, RS 3 or RS485. After analyzing these
data on management software by managers, statements in attendance will be showed up. Excel spreadsheet of
printing can also be derived

1.5. T&A with card reader (optional)
T&A terminal is storage equipment which records digital information by receiving terminal identification card, as well
as external equipment (such as locks, open buttons and other equipment) controller.
There are particular frequency induction coils in internal cards and CMOS chip, each card corresponds to the
only one number. With each card staff files will be established in the management.
When cardholders wipe their cards on card-reader areas, then their particular status are recorded and stored into
the terminal. By appropriate means of communication, such as, RS 3 or RS485 and TCP/IP. The information will be
sent to the T&A management computer, after analyzing these data on management software by managers,
statements in attendance will be showed up. Excel spreadsheet of printing can also be derived. But it is invalid if the
staff did not register with the card before.

(a) “▲” – Clock In
When machine works under function keys for clocking In/Out , but without any shift setting on the software,, “▲”
means clock in , press key of “▲” before clocking in ,it will appear “In” on LCD, meanwhile it will show as status of “ in
” instead of “ auto ” in the attendance report .
(b) “▼” – Clock Out
When machine works under function keys for clocking In/Out, but without any shift setting on the software, “▼” means
clock out, press key of “▼” before clocking out, it will appear ”Out” on LCD, meanwhile it will show as status of “out”
instead of “ auto ” in the attendance report .
. Equipment installation
. .1 Installation notice
 Make sure that the terminal equipment is installed in the room. If being installed outdoors, you should notice that
water exposed to the adverse circumstances.
 Make sure that the equipment is installed with metal grounded backplane in order to avoid the current pulse and
avoid shocking terminal equipment.
 To prevent electrical short circuit, we suggest you not share power with other equipments.
 You should avoid the direct exposure of sunlight or a large number of sandstorms in this region. otherwise it will
affect the use of keyboard.
 Because of the small size of terminal, it can be installed at any place. If terminal is used for access control or
T&A, it should be installed beside the door so that users can check in and out automatically before doors unlocked.
 You should pay attention to two points about site of installation: One is that you should ensure that there is
enough air for dispelling heat, the other is that do not install it near the place with the source of heat, direct irradiation
and lots of dust.
 The installation of metal backboard is necessary and it can release static if users when connected to power
supply with the earth wire.

Chapter 3 Function Menu
Press key 【Menu】,then it enters into the three submenus on the LCD 【Data Proc】, 【Setup】,【System Info】for your
option with ▲ and ▼.
3.1 Data processing
3.1.1Users register
After entering into the menu, select 【Data Proc.】(means data processing)，select the submenu 【UReg.】(means
users register), then general users can register. There are five kinds of register mode:
3.1.1.1【Finger】：
Select “finger” item, then it comes to the window:” New Reg. (YES-OK, NO-ESC)”

Select YES, then it will spring an ID number for you, and click OK to register under this ID number. The ID number will
be increased by degrees automatically from 00001.
