4.1 CONNECTING THE TELEMETRY DISTRIBUTION
Connect up the telemetry distribution in accordance with diagram below and the specifications in
Section 7, paying special attention to the maximum ratings and the notes below.
1. ALWAYS use Screened cables for low voltage and signal cables, ensuring the screen is
connected to 0V or Earth.
2. AVOID looming cables of differing characteristics together E.G. Telemetry cables with cables
carrying mains power.
3. The maximum cable run for Twisted Pair is typically 1Km.
4. The maximum number of Dome cameras that can be connected to a driver interface is 31.
5. The domes should be ‘Daisy Chained’ with the last dome in the chain having it’s termination
switch set to ON, and all other domes unterminated.

6. OPERATION
All Functions operate as described in the DVK-001 Manual with the following exceptions and
additions:
6.1 PRESETS
The system is limited to 64 presets on each Dome. Presets 1 – 63 are accesed through the Preset
key, and preset 0 through the Home key. Additionally, presets 1 to 8 are quick access presets which
are accessed using the P1 to P8 keys. These presets are not stored in permanent memory, and are
thus stored faster, and accesed by a single keystroke. To transfer these presets into permanent
memory, please see Storing to EEPROM.
6.2 TOURS
Each dome can be configured with up to 4 tours. A tour is a list of preset positions, dwell times and
maximum approach speeds which the dome systematically cycles through.
The limits of the Tour Data are as follows:
• Up to 9 positions per tour.
• Dwell times are in the range 1 – 99 seconds
• Speeds are in the range 1 – 8.
A tour is stopped by sending any PTZF function to the camera.
Tours are stored in permanent memory and should thus be remebered if the dome is switched off.
6.3 SPECIAL FUNCTIONS
6.3.1 FLIP
The Dome supports a one key flip operation ( 180 degree turn) , as described in the DVK-001 manual,
but does not support a 90 degree turn.
6.3.2 STORE TO EEPROM
All Preset and Tour information can be stored in permanent memory using the Store Function.
This is accessed by the following key combination:

6.4 GLOBAL COMMANDS
The Domes do not support global commands.
6.5 OPERATIONAL NOTES
The RS-485 interface to the domes relies on a 2-way communication protocol. If for any reason the
dome fails to respond to repeated commands, it will be logged off the system. This will mean that any
commands for that camera will be ignored, to prevent slowing down the rest of the system.
A period of 30 seconds will elapse before communications with the dome will be re-tried.
N.B. When powering up the dome, it will not respond to communications until it has completed it’s
power-up test. No attempt should be made to control the dome in this period.
