this innovative product, please read this user’s guide thoroughly, and retain it for future use. This user’s guide
will explain how to setup and use the surge protector.

For use indoors and in dry locations only. Do not attempt to use this product with existing extension cords. The
ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™must be directly plugged into a wall electrical outlet to ensure proper
surge protection. Make sure that the outlet is properly grounded. To decrease the risk of electrical shock,
unplug the surge protector and allow it to cool before cleaning.

Product Overview
The ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™, equipped with (1) Master, (4) Controlled, and (2) Constant Power
Outlets, and is ideal for both commercial and home office use. When you power off the MASTER DEVICE, the
digitally automated shutdown process will eliminate power to CONTROLLED DEVICES after 90 seconds, thus
eliminating wasted standby power usage.

Eliminate Standby Power
The ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™provides an easy way to eliminate standby power thus reducing
energy consumption and lowering your electric bill. This energy savings will help to decrease your impact on the
environment.
Save Money & Energy
Plug in a MASTER DEVICE (such as a computer) into the Master Outlet, and then plug in CONTROLLED DEVICES
(such a printer, scanner or speakers) to the Controlled Outlets. When you power OFF the MASTER DEVICE, our
patented automated process will completely shut off power to the Controlled Outlets, which will eliminate the
standby power normally wasted by these devices, thus saving money on electricity. Power will remain available
to devices plugged into Constant Power outlets such as a router or fax machine.

Setup Instructions
Using a Computer as the Master Device
Follow these instructions to use a computer (desktop or laptop) as the Master Device. Whether the Master
Device (computer) is powered ON or OFF will control the flow of power to the Controlled Outlets.
Step 1 –Prepping the Surge Protector
Remove the protective film (or static bag) from the surge protector and verify that there are no cracks or major
damage to the housing.
Step 2 –Power ON
Plug the ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™into a wall socket and flip the Main Power Switch to the
RESET position. At this point the surge protector should be powered ON and the Main Power Switch should be
illuminated. Also verify that the Surge Protection Indicator is illuminated.
Step 3 –Master Device Setup
Plug a desktop or laptop computer into the outlet labeled “Master”. Whether this Master Device is powered ON
or OFF will control the flow of power to the Controlled Outlets.

Step 4 –Controlled Device Setup
Plug device such as monitors, printers, speakers, and scanners into the outlets labeled “Controlled”. These
devices will not draw any power when the Master Device is powered OFF. These devices will only have power
available when the Master Device is powered ON, or when the Temporary Controlled Power Button has been
pressed.
Step 5 –Constant Device Setup
You may want to maintain power to some devices such as modems, routers, lamps, and chargers at all times.
Plug these devices into the outlets labeled “Constant”. Devices plugged into these outlets will remain powered
as long as the Main Power Switch remains in the RESET position.
Step 6 –Verify Functionality
Power ON the Master Device and confirm that all of the Controlled Devices have power available.
TEMPORARY CONTROLLED POWER BUTTON
The Temporary Controlled Power Button provides 90 seconds of power to the Controlled Outlets. This function
provides access to the controlled devices without having to power ON the Master Device.

Using a Television as the Master Device
Follow these instructions to use a television as the Master Device. Whether the Master Device is powered ON or
OFF will control the flow of power to the Controlled Outlets.
Step 1 –Prepping the Surge Protector

Plug device such as home theater receivers, Blu-ray players, DVD players, VCR’s, gaming consoles, and powered
woofers into the outlets labeled “Controlled”. These devices will not draw any power when the Master Device
is powered OFF. These devices will only have power available when the Master Device is powered ON, or when
the Temporary Controlled Power Button has been pressed.
Step 5 –Constant Device Setup
You may want to maintain power to some devices such as DVR’s, cable boxes, lamps, chargers, and routers at all
times. Plug these devices into the outlets labeled “Constant”. Devices plugged into these outlets will remain
powered as long as the Main Power Switch remains in the RESET position.
Step 6 –Verify Functionality
Power ON the Master Device and confirm that all of the Controlled Devices have power available.

Troubleshooting FAQ’s
My ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™does not seem to work. Why?
First, be sure that the surge protector is plugged into a wall socket and that you have the Main Power Switch in
the RESET position. Secondly, verify that you followed the setup instructions. There are many power cords
associated with electronic devices and in some cases the correct power cord may not be plugged into the
corresponding outlet. Please remember that devices connected to the Controlled Outlets will only have power
available to them when the Master Device is powered ON, or if the Temporary Power Button has been pressed.
Also, verify that the connections are all plugged in and not loose.
When my computer enters SLEEP mode, the power is cut off to devices connected to the Controlled Outlets.
Why?
Most computers utilize different levels of power. ZuniDigital has designed the Smart Green Surge Protector™to
operate with 98% of known power values. Some computers may have an energy usage level in sleep mode that
is below the pre-set threshold, which then causes the surge protector to cut OFF power to Controlled Outlets
when the computer goes to sleep. This will not harm your connected peripherals and when awakened power
will be automatically restored to the Controlled Devices. If desired, you can plug peripherals into Constant
Outlets.
The Controlled Devices are not activating. Why?
The ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™activates Controlled Devices based on the power load delivered
and used by the Master Device. If the device being used for the Master Device draws less than 14 watts of
power, then it does not have the sufficient amount of power to control the power switching mechanism. Please
consult the user’s guide for the proposed Master Device.
One of the linked peripheral devices does not turn back on. Why?
In very few instances, some peripheral devices have soft switches, which automatically default to “off” in the
event power is cut off. In this case, you will have to manually switch the power on to this device, but rest
assured when you forget to turn it off the next time our device will do it for you.
I plugged in my electronic device into the green outlet and it does not work. Why?
If the device in the control outlet has not activated the ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™, the red LED
on the power strip will be off along with all of the devices in the switched outlets. IMPORTANT NOTE: Before
returning your ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™as a possible defective device, plug a normal 60 - 75
watt incandescent lamp into the control or Master outlet. Switch the bulb on and off and see if this triggers the
controlled outlets. If this solves the problem, the device you previously had in the control outlet may use too
little or too much energy to trip the Smart Strip electronics. We will only accept defective returns if the device
fails to meet this test standard.
Why are none of the outlets working on my ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™?
Please be sure that the power switch is on. If it is then the outlet you plugged it into has no power and you need
to investigate why power is not flowing to your outlet.

How will I save energy by using the ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™?
Most of us turn off a television or a computer when we are done using it, but we then fail to turn off devices
such as printers, monitors, speakers, DVD players or game consoles, to name a few. These devices will continue
to draw power even when they are not in use. By using the ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™, you will
save energy on home and office peripherals that are now powered down once the master is turned off.
How does the ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™save energy?
With our patented technology, we are able to digitally monitor an electronic device plugged into the master
outlet, and read power usage levels of the master device. When the master, such as a television, is powered off,
our Smart Green Surge Protector™stops the flow of power to all of the devices that are plugged into the
Controlled Outlets. No electrical current will be drawn by these devices and there is no need to turn them off or
unplug them.
What is the advantage of the ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™?
There are several traditional master-slave power strips on the market. However, when the master device is
powered off when using these inferior products, power is immediately shut off to the connected outlets. If a
light were plugged into one of these outlets, the room would go dark, or if a DVD player is plugged into the
linked outlet, and the only way to remove the DVD you just viewed would be to turn back on the TV. The
ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™does not power down the controlled outlets until after our micro
controller registers that the master outlet is no longer in use, and then delays the shutoff of power to the
peripheral devices for 90 seconds.
Why is there a separate button to restore power to the controlled outlets?
There will be occasions when you need to turn on peripheral devices without turning on the master device. You
can do so by pushing the control button and power will be provided for 90 seconds to the controlled outlets, to
allow removal of a DVD, video game, or other short-term power needs.
How much energy can I expect to save?
Government studies have shown that electronic devices in sleep or standby mode, and other devices such as
gaming consoles that do not go into sleep mode, account for approximately 10% of all power used. Each person
has a different energy usage and we have provided on our website a chart to determine your potential savings
from using our Power Strip. If we assume you operate the master device 8 hours a day 5 days a week, that
leaves 128 hours of wasted standby power usage.
Why are there different outlets on the ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™?
We have provided three types of power outlets that provide for you to automatically control your peripheral
electronic devices. Each outlet has specific purposes. Master Outlet (BLUE), Controlled Outlets (GREEN),
Constant Outlets (RED).
What can I plug into the ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™?
The ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™can be used just as a regular power strip with the exception that
any device that needs constant power should never be plugged into a Controlled Outlet. Some electronic
devices will not turn on or off the switched outlets when plugged into the Master control outlet. We have
designed our product to handle almost all typical situations, but there may be rare circumstances that do not
permit proper operation.
