Quick Reference Guide for Clinicians
Nimbus™ II PainPRO Ambulatory Infusion Pump
This guide is intended to function as a limited quick
reference only after reading the entire Clinician
IFU Manual. This guide is not intended for patientuse.

Alert
Indications
Cassette Loading
Error
The cassette may not be properly loaded or
has become dislodged.
System Error
The pumping mechanism may not work
properly.
Firmware Error
The system fails to operate in a controlled
fashion.
Upstream
Occlusion
A decrease in pressure is sensed in the supply
line between the pump and IV bag.
Downstream
Occlusion
An increase in pressure is sensed in the line
between the pump and the patient
Pump
Unattended
The pump is powered on but not infusing. It is
standing by
Infusion
Complete
The infusion is completed.
Invalid Infusion
Parameter
An infusion parameter has been entered that
exceeds the remaining pump life.
Battery
Depleted
The infusion will continue for 30 minutes
prior to shut-down.
Max Vol Reached
Pump Standby
The pump has reached a maximum volume
per hour or volume per interval limit.
Responses
Press the RUN/STOP key to acknowledge the condition and silence the
audio alert.
Clamp the tubing. Unload and reload the cassette. Open the slide clamp.
Press the RUN/STOP key to return to the programming screen.
Press the RUN/STOP key to resume.
Press the RUN/STOP key to acknowledge the condition and silence the
alert. Power off the pump.
Take the pump out of service. Use a replacement pump if needed.
Press any key to acknowledge the alert. The pump will power off with any
key press.
Take the pump out of service. Use a replacement pump if needed.
Press the RUN/STOP key to acknowledge the condition and silence the
audio alert (if present).
Resolve the cause of the occlusion.
When the occlusion is resolved the infusion will automatically resume.
Press the RUN/STOP key to acknowledge the condition and silence the
audio alert (if present).
Resolve the cause of the occlusion such as a closed slide clamp, kinked
tubing, or tape covering the air-eliminating filter vent.
When the occlusion is resolved the infusion will automatically resume.
Press the RUN/STOP key to acknowledge the condition and silence the
audio alert.
To resume the infusion highlight Current Rx then press ENTER. Press
ENTER to Resume Infusion. Press the RUN/STOP key to review and
press ENTER to confirm the RX restarting the infusion.
Or press the ON/OFF key for 3 seconds to power off the pump.
Press the RUN/STOP key to acknowledge the condition and silence the
audio alert. Press the ON/OFF key for 3 seconds to power off the pump.
Press the RUN/STOP key to acknowledge the condition and silence the
audio alert. The pump will return to the programming screen. Enter a
valid infusion parameter value and start the infusion as applicable.
Press the RUN/STOP key for 3 seconds to pause the infusion.
Press the ON/OFF key for 3 seconds to power off pump.
Replace the battery following the instructions provided in the user manual.
The pump will remain in standby mode until the new hour or interval is
reached before resuming the infusion.
To change a maximum volume limit value, hold the RUN/STOP key for 3
seconds to pause the Current Rx. Press the INFO key. Highlight Titration
then press ENTER. Scroll down to highlight the desired parameter. Press
ENTER to move into change mode. Unlock the prescription. Enter a new
parameter value. Press ENTER to confirm. Press the RUN/STOP key to
activate the change and resume the Current Rx.

parameter or move the cursor

upward.
In Programming mode, press to
return to the previous screen.
In Run mode, press to view shift
totals, review the prescription
and/or titrate protocol values.
Press and release the BOLUS key
to attempt a Demand Bolus
delivery.
Press and hold the BOLUS key for
3 seconds to cancel a Delay Start
infusion.
Enter a new prescription:
Hold for 3 seconds to power on
the pump.
Highlight New Rx and press to
advance.
Unlock the pump.
Select Manual Program or Library
mode
Press to advance.
Use the UP key , DOWN key and Enter
key to select the appropriate category then protocol
from the menu.
Press to review the Rx.
Press to confirm the prescription, lock the
keypad and begin the infusion. To alter a parameter
value:
1. Press to enter a manual review of the Rx.
2. Highlight the desired
parameter. Press ENTER.
3. Set a new parameter value.
4. Press the ENTER key to confirm the
change.
5. The pump will return to the previous screen.
Repeat these steps to change any
other default values in the
prescription.
Press then to review and
confirm the prescription then begin the infusion.
Review Infusion history: Press to access
the Infusion History menu.
Press to access the Titration menu to
review the Current Rx.
Press to access the Shift Total menu to
review and clear recent infusion history.
Titrate the Infusion: Press the INFO key.
Press to access the Titration menu.
Highlight the desired parameter. Press
Set a new parameter value.
Press to confirm the change. The pump
will return to the previous screen.
Press to activate the change.
Pause the Infusion: Press and hold for 3
seconds to pause the infusion.
Resume the Infusion:Press then to review
and confirm the prescription then resume the infusion.
Power off the Pump:
Hold for 3 seconds to pause the infusion.
Hold for 3 seconds to power off the pump.
Power back on and Resume the Infusion:
Hold for 3 seconds to power on the pump.
Highlight Current Rx then press .
Press to Resume Infusion.
Press to review and press to confirm
the RX resuming the infusion.
Troubleshoot an Alert: Press to silence the
audible alert. Refer to the table provided in this guide
or in Section 5 of the Clinician IFU for an explanation
of the condition and steps for a resolution.
Pack and Wear Pouch:
1. Lay the IV bag flat in the carry pouch with the
bag spike facing to the left.
2. Fold the spike and tubing back over the IV bag.
3. Place the pump inside the Velcro strap with the
dis- play screen showing through the clear
window
4. Route the downstream end
of the tubing through the
tubing outlet.
5. Zip the pouch closed.
6. Attach the carry strap and
secure the pouch around
the patient’s waist or over
the patient’s shoulder.
