ZyXEL Limited Warranty
ZyXEL warrants to the original end user (purchaser) that this product is free
from any defects in materials or workmanship for a period of up to two (2)
years from the date of purchase. During the warranty period and upon proof of
purchase, should the product have indications of failure due to faulty
workmanship and/or materials, ZyXEL will, at its discretion, repair or replace
the defective products or components without charge for either parts or labor
and to whatever extent it shall deem necessary to restore the product or
components to proper operating condition. Any replacement will consist of a
new or re-manufactured functionally equivalent product of equal value, and
will be solely at the discretion of ZyXEL. This warranty shall not apply if the
product is modified, misused, tampered with, damaged by an act of God, or
subjected to abnormal working conditions.
Note
Repair or replacement, as provided under this warranty, is the exclusive
remedy of the purchaser. This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties,
express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or
fitness for a particular use or purpose. ZyXEL shall in no event be held liable
for indirect or consequential damages of any kind of character to the purchaser.
To obtain the services of this warranty, contact ZyXEL's Service Center for
your Return Material Authorization number (RMA). Products must be returned
Postage Prepaid. It is recommended that the unit be insured when shipped. Any
returned products without proof of purchase or those with an out-dated
warranty will be repaired or replaced (at the discretion of ZyXEL) and the
customer will be billed for parts and labor. All repaired or replaced products
will be shipped by ZyXEL to the corresponding return address, Postage Paid.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other
rights that vary from country to country.

WoL cable
A. Hardware Installation
Follow the steps below to install
the adapter.
1. Save your work and close
all programs.
2. Disconnect the computer
power cord from the
power source.
3. Ground yourself by
wearing an anti-static
wrist strap or touching a
metal object.
4. Remove the computer
cover and a slot cover
from a PCI slot.
5. Insert the adapter into an
available PCI slot. Make
sure the adapter’s contacts
are fully seated in the slot.
If you wish to use the
Wake On LAN (WoL)
function, choose an
available PCI slot closest to the 3-pin WoL connector on the computer
motherboard. Refer to Connecting WoL Cable section.
6. Secure the adapter to the chassis with a bracket screw.
7. Replace the computer cover and power on your computer.
8. Proceed to Hardware Connection section.

Connecting WoL Cable (Optional)
This is an optional function. Proceed with the installation if your computer
supports Wake On LAN and that you wish to use this function. Refer to your
motherboard user’s guide for more information.
1. Follow the steps in the Hardware Installation section to turn off the
computer and make sure the adapter is fully seated in the PCI slot.
2. One end of the WoL cable should already be connected to the adapter.
Connect the other end to the 3-pin WoL connector on the computer
motherboard.
3. Replace the computer cover.
B. Hardware Connection
The following table describes the types of network cable used for the different
connection speeds.
SPEED NETWORK CABLE TYPE

1000 Base-T 100Ω4-pair UTP/STP Category 5
Cable length between connections must not exceed
100 meters (328 feet).
Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the adapter and the other end to a
switch/hub or computer. Then check the LEDs.
Panel LEDs
The LED indicators give real-time information about the status of the adapter.

LED COLOR STATUS DESCRIPTION
100 Green On The port is operating at 100Mbps.
Off The port is operating at 10Mbps when the
1000 LED is also off.
1000 Green On The port is operating at 1000Mbps.
Off The port is operating at 10Mbps when the
100 LED is also off.
FDX/COL Green On The port is operating in full-duplex mode.
Blinking Packet collision occurred on this port.
Off This port is operating in half-duplex mode.
LNK/ACT Green On The port is connected to a network.
Blinking The port is receiving or transmitting data.
Off The port is not connected to a network.
C. Hardware Configuration and Diagnostics
The default hardware configuration of the adapter has been designed to work
right out of the box.
Use the Diag32.exe program in the Installation Disk to set up the adapter
hardware configuration for your network needs and/or perform diagnostics.
Run the program under pure DOS command prompt window.
D. Driver Installation
Follow the instructions in the readme files for your operating system on the
Installation Disk to complete the driver installation (you may need your
Windows CD).

Troubleshooting
PROBLEM CORRECTIVE ACTION
Windows does
not auto-detect
the adapter.
Turn off the computer and make sure the adapter’s
contacts are fully seated in the slot and secured to the
computer with a bracket screw.
Perform a hardware scan by clicking Start, Settings,
Control Panel and double-clicking Add/Remove
Hardware. (Steps may vary depending on the version
of Windows). Follow the on-screen instructions to
search for the adapter and install the driver.
Install the adapter in another computer. If the error
persists, you may have a hardware problem. Contact
your local vendor.
The adapter is
not working
properly.
Update/Upgrade the driver. Refer to the readme files
on the diskette.
Check for possible hardware conflicts in the Device
Manager window.
Install the adapter in another computer. If the problem
persists, you may have a hardware problem. Contact
your local vendor.
The LNK/ACT
LED does not
light up when
connected.
Verify that the attached device(s) is turned on and
properly connected.
Make sure the network adapters are working on the
attached devices.
Verify that proper network cable type is used and its
length does not exceed 100 meters. For more
information on network cable types, see the B.
