10BARUnderwaterHousingsare small,lightandruggedenoughtobeusedoneverydive.Useofclear
polycarbonate allowsfor visualinspectionofcameraconditionand theO-ringseal.10BARHousingsare
designedfor theever-increasingvarietyofmodelsofdigitalstillandvideocameras.Advancedcomputeraided
designandCNCmanufacturingtechnologiesensureprecisedimensions.Eachhousingbodyisfirstinjection
molded,and thenmachinedtoconfiguretoindividualcameramodel.Arangeoflensportsandcontrolsare

4.SetupInstructions
4.1 AirLock:
Thebodyandlidaredesigned withtheAirLockSystem noclip closurearrangement.Testinghas
shownthatthisarrangementallowthewatertoexertanevenpressureontheO-ring,Increasethereliabilityof
the watertightseal.

4.2 Pressurereleaseplug
Toopenthehousing,thepressure
releaseplugmustbefirstunscrewedand
then pulledoutalltheway
(Counter-clockwise) (Fig1).This
providesapassagefortheairtopass
thoughand eliminatethepressure
differentbetweentheinsideofthe
housingandtheambient.Theplug
consistsofaninternaldoubleO-ringseal
onthestainlesssteelslideshaft.
TheseinternalO-ringsformthe
watertightseal.There isalsoalarge
outerO-ringunder theknob.ThisO-ring
servestopreventcontaminationofthe
slideshaft,withdirt,saltetc.,andisnot
requiredforwatertightintegrity.Ifthis
O-ringshouldbecomedetached,itcan
simplybepushedbackinplace.
4.3 Openinglevers:
Afterunscrewingandpulling outthepressurereleaseplug,thelidcanbeopened.Toovercomethe
frictionofopening,uselever (Fig.2)topushagainstthelidwithacamaction.Besuretheyare insertedallthe
wayflattothehousingbeforeturningtoavoiddamagingtheprotrusionsonthelid.Thebodyhasfourholeson
eachcorneredgesforopening.Gentlylever offthelidwiththe suppliedopeninglever(Fig.3) takingcarenot
totwistthelidexcessively.Thelidshouldbeopenedkeeping itapproximatelyparalleledtothebodyatall
times,turnfirstonecorneralittle,thentheother alittle,andrepeatagainuntil thelidisopened.Remember to
unscrewandpulloutthepressurerelease plugallthe wayfirst,otherwisetheair pressure will resistattempts
atopening.Laythelid onaflatstablesurfaceafteropening.
4.4 Specialnoteon responsibilityforwatertightintegrity:
Each housingisindividuallyinspectedandhydrostaticallytested inthefactory.Thedesignofthe
mainpistonO-ringsealisamongthemostreliableintheindustryandthewatertightintegrityisexcellent.This
specialO-ringdesignprovidesaperfectsealevenifthereisanymovementbetweenthebodyandlid dueto
change ofambientpressure.Howeverpleasenotethatresponsibilityforensuring theintegrityofthe
watertightsealliesentirelywiththeuser.10BARacceptsnoliabilityfordamageto,orlossofanyequipment
usedwith,orplacedinsidethe housing.Usersare highlyrecommended tocarryoutin-watertestofthe

housingswithoutinstallingofthecamerafortheirfirstdiveafter changeofnewportsoralternationofanynew
configuration.The testcanbecarriedoutbyloweringthehousingwithballasttothe workingdepthor dive
downtothesafediving range.
The O-ringsealisthemainbarrierbetweenthe wateroutsideandtheairspacewithinthe
camera. Itis aneffectivebarrieronlyifthesealisproperlymaintained.TheO-ringsealshouldbe
inspectedbeforeeverydive.Thefollowinginformation isprovidedyou¡reyourguidanceinusing
andmaintainingtheO-ringseal.
4.5 Maintainingthe O-ringSeal:
IfthemainbodytolidO-ringisnotinstalled,installtheO-ring beforediving.Thisistheonlyuser
serviceableO-ring.Itscareandmaintenanceiscriticaltothewatertightintegrityofthehousing.TheO-ring
shouldbereplacedattheserviceinterval(seesectiononservice).IftheO-ringiscontaminated,ornotalready
installed,inspectgrease andinstalltheO-ringaccordingtothefollowing guidelines.
4.6 Inspection,cleaningandre-instillationofthe O-ring
Tools:
Asoftcottonbudor spongeapplicator,makesure theseare freeofallchemicalsorcontamination
such asloosefibers, andthetubeofsilicone grease suppliedwiththe housing.Noteothertypesofsilicone
greasespecificallyfor usewithunderwater cameraequipmentcanusuallyalsobeused.Itisadvisedtocarry
outthefollowingprocedure onafirmcleanlevelsurface,(e.g.atatable),topreventskiddingespeciallyuseful
tohavewhendivingfromaboat.
When tomaintaintheO-ringseal:
RemovetheO-ringperiodicallyforinspection.Itisnotnecessarytoremove,cleanand
re-install theO-ringaftereverydiveprovidedtheO-ringdidnotbecomecontaminated.Asaruleofthumbset
upthecameraand housing beforeaday sdiving.Ifthehousingisrequiredtobeopenedbetweendivesfor
changing memorycardorre-chargingbatteries,makesuretheoutsideofthehousingisthoroughlytoweled
drybeforeopeningup.After removing thelidandservicingthecamera,replace the lid straightaway,rather
thanleaving itlyingaround.Before replacingthelid,makesurethatnocontaminationsuch asdust,hair,salt,
sand etc.hasfallenontotheO-ringorO-ringrecess,asaprecautionwe recommendtoinspecttheO-ring
everytimethelidisopenedandtocarryoutthemaintenanceifnecessary.
Procedure:
Place the lidonafirmnon-slip levelsurface.
TheO-ring canbe extractedusinganO-ringextractor tool(make sure
the toolasnosharpedges).Alternativelyusethe flatsofthethumbsto
gentlystretchtheO-ringontwofaces(Fig.4)thusmaking asmall loop
protrudingafew mm.Theloopcanthenbegraspedbetweenfinger and
thumb,topulltheO-ringover thelip.
CleantheO-ringrecess(thesquaregroovewheretheO-ringsits)with
acottonbud.
InspecttheO-ring allthewayrounditssurfacefordamagesuchascutstearsorcontamination.Thisshould
bedonevisuallyandalsobyfeelingthesurfacetexturebetweenfingerandthumb.
IFTHEO-RINGISDAMAGEDORSUSPECTED OF BEINGDAMAGED,DISCARDITIMMEDIATELY.
A spareO-ringissuppliedwithyourhousing,orareplacementO-ringcanbeobtainedfrom10 BAR.Ifthe
O-ringiscontaminatedor suspectedofbeingcontaminated,cleanitwithacottoncloththatisfreeofall
chemicalsorcontamination.After cleaninginspecttheO-ringagain.
OncetheO-ringhasbeeninspectedandverifiedfitforuse,applya SMALL amountofSiliconegreasetothe
O-ring.ThesiliconegreasemustbeevenlydistributedroundtheO-ring
Replace theO-ringintothegroove;run afingerroundtheO-ring,tomakesure itissnuglyseatedinthe

groove.
4.7 Mountingthe camerainthehousing:
Removethelenscapandwriststrap.Thepressurereleaseplugshouldbepulledoutbefore inserting
thecamera.Attachtheplasticslidetraytothecamera stripodmountingfixturewithacoin,screwdriveror the
endoftheuniversaltoolsupplied(Fig.5).Takecarenottoexcessivelytightenthescrew.Slidethecamerainto
the bodyalong theguide rail (Fig.6).Makesure thecamerabodyreachthelimitand testthe functionofthe
on/ofbuttononthebodyofthehousing.Slidethehotshoeplugintothehotshoe(Fig.7)Note:Ifyoufindthat
the buttonsdonotalignproperlywiththe controls,pleasecheckagainthatthe cameraisproperlyseatedto
the limitoftheguiderail.
Replacethelid(Fig.8).Remember
toensurethepressure releaseplug
ispulledallthewayoutwhile
closing,otherwisetheaircannot
escape.Squeeze thelidclosedall
thewaywiththehissingofexpelled
air.Screwhome (CLOCKWISE)
the pressurereleaseplug (Fig.9).
There isnoneed toexcessively
tightenthisplug.Thesealismade
byinternalO-rings. TheO-ringontheundersideoftheplugisjusttokeepoutdirt.
Afterreplacingthelid,makeafinalvisualinspectionofthe main
O-ringforcontamination(Fig.10).
Note: IftheO-ringis ingoodcontact,athinblackline,
about0.5to1mminwidthshouldbevisible,wherethe
O-ringisincontactwiththelid.Follow thislineallthe
way roundtheedgeoftheseal,asafinalcheckthatthe
sealisgood.Thehousingis nowreadyforthe dive.
Important!!! Beforediving,makesurethepressure
releaseplugispushedbackinsideandthenscrewed
home,donotovertightenthisplug(fingertightonly).

5.Use&CareofHousing:
5.1 PreDiveFunction Check.
Justbeforeenteringthewater,makeahabitofreviewingthatyouhavecarriedoutthe
properstepstoclosethehousing.and the pressure releaseplug screwedhome.Make a
visualcheckoftheO-ringseal.Itisalsousefultoswitchonthecamera,andcheckthat
controlse.g.on/off,zoom,shutterfunctionsoperatenormally.
Checkhousingisclosed.
Closepressurereleaseplug
Checkbatteryandmemory cardstatus ontheLCDdisplay.
Checkcontrolknobandzoomfunction.
Ifthereis alargechangeoftemperatureandthehousingis notopenedformaintenance
betweendives,itis recommendedtoequalizethepossiblepressuredifferencebetweenthe
insideofthehousingandtheambientbyopeningthepressurereleaseplugandcloseitfirmly
subsequently.Alwaysavoidsubmergingthehousinginhotwater foraprolongedtime ora
cleansingtank wherethewatermaybeheatedupbythesun.
5.2 GeneralOperation.
ThecontrolleversandpushbuttonsconsistofinternaldoubleO-ring sealsonastainless steelshaft.
Thisarrangementisveryreliable,however asaprecaution,whenoperating the controls,avoid excessively
rapidmovements, asthismaydistorttheO-ring.Alsoplease allow forthefactthatthecameratakesafew
secondstopoweron.Ifthecameradosenotappear torespondtoacontrolaction,makesure thatnoother
controlsarepressingonthecamera,i.e.lockingoutfurther actions.Wearthewriststrap;itiseasyto
inadvertentlyletgoofthe housing,especiallyifyouaredistracted.
5.3 Cleaning&Storage.
Thebody&lidofthe housingaremadeofpolycarbonate.Polycarbonatewasselectedforits
outstandingstrengthstiffness, hardness andtoughness.Aswellasitscrystalcleartransparencyandhighgloss
surface.Ithasgoodresistance toweathering,althoughlongtermexposure tosunlightshould beavoided.
Normaloperatingtemperaturerange is3 Cto36 C(Storagetemperature:-10 Cto50 C)Itisgoodpractice
torinseoffyour housingwithfreshwater aftereverydive.Avoidexposuretofinesand.Afteraseriesof10or
moredives, e.g.afteradiveholiday,itisrecommendedtoimmersethehousingfor2-3hoursinwarmwaterto
dissolveanysaltdepositsthat mayhavebuiltup.Nochemicalcleanersshouldbe used.Milddetergentse.g.
shampooandsoap based cleanersare permitted.
Somehouseholdchemicals may harmPolycarbonate; the
housingshouldneverbeexposedtothefollowingclassesofchemicals:
benzene,toluene,xylene,chlorinatedhydrocarbons,methanol,anyothersolvents,
strongacidsandbases.Forlongtermstoragepleaseremovethemaino-ringfrombody.
5.4 Transportation.
Whentransportingbyair,pleaseensure thehousingisnotsealed,toallow theairpressureto
equalize.EitherremovetheO-ring(recommended),oropenthepressurereleaseport(aspacerisprovidedto
keep thepressureplugintheopenposition,please makesurethereisnobendingofthe plugwhile open).
Pleaseprotectthehousingduringtransportation.Itisrecommendedtoremovethehandle,and shutter
extension,andwrapthecamerainfoamorbubblewrap.
5.5 Accidents.
Theimpactresistanceofthe housingisexcellent.However after anaccidentthealignmentofthe
housingmayhavebeendamaged.Therefore intheeventofyourhousingsufferinganimpactforce,e.g.being

dropped,itisessentialyoudonotusethehousingfordiving.Pleasereturnthehousingimmediatelyforservice.
Pleaseputanoteinsidetoindicatethenature oftheaccident,so thattheseveritycanbeassessed.
6.Service
Toensure thecontinued performance ofyourhousing,itshouldbe servicedeveryyear,orafter
every200dives.Please notethe termsfor servicing thehousing posted at ourwebsite.A fullservice will
include:
Inspectionofallcomponentsforwearsordamage(reportifrepairnecessary)
Cleaningofallsealingsurfaces,andreplacementofallO-ringseals.
Hydrostaticpressure testto10Bar.
Note:thereplacementofdamagedcomponents(exceptreplacementO-rings)mayrequire
additionalcost.
7.Warranty
Thewarrantyis validwithintwoyearsfromthe dateoffirstpurchase.Thewarranty
appliesonlytothehousingitself.10 BARdoesnotacceptanyliabilityeitherimplicitorotherwise
foranyequipmenthousedinside,orusedtogetherwiththehousing.Intheeventofthehousing
floodingwithintheperiodofwarranty,10 BARwillrepairor replacethehousing.Pleasenote
thatdisassemblyofthehousingwill invalidatewarranty. Pleasefillintheinformationbelow,and
returnacopyto10BarUnderwaterHousingattheaddress below,tovalidatethewarranty.
