Touch Display Quick Start Guide
Please read, understand and follow all safety information contained in this document prior to use. For more information, see the product
specific 3M™ User Guide found on www.3m.com/touch. Retain these instructions for future reference.
Intended Use
The 3M™ Touch Displays are designed for touch input and tested to replace an existing display. These displays are intended for
professional installation and use in an indoor, business environment. They are not designed or tested for use in hazardous locations.
Use in any other application has not been evaluated by 3M and may lead to an unsafe condition. Not intended for household or
personal use.
Explanation of Signal Word Consequences

WARNING
To reduce the risks associated with hazardous voltage:
- Plug power cord into appropriately grounded power source.
- Use only 3M provided power supply or power cord certified for country of use. Contact your local 3M Technical Service to order
a replacement power cord.
- Do not modify or service the display. There are no user serviceable parts. Servicing only by 3M authorized service personnel.
- Do not use any part of the system if damaged (display, power supply, power cord, etc.).
- Ensure that connecting the unit to the power source will not overload the power source.
- Do not connect or disconnect this product during a thunderstorm or lightning.
- Do not install/use outdoors or in wet locations.
- Do not place liquids on display.
To reduce the risks associated with fire:
- The socket outlet should be installed near the equipment and should be easily accessible.
- When using any cleaning solution, follow all instructions and recommendations in the manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet and on
product label.
To reduce the risks associated with fire or explosion:
- Do not install or use in hazardous locations.
CAUTION
To reduce the risks associated with lifting large or heavy displays:
- Avoid extended periods of awkward positioning while installing.
- Get assistance and use good material handling practices during extended periods of integration/installation.
- Ensure proper mechanical lifting assistance is used when handling displays 65” or greater in size.
To reduce the risks associated with broken glass:
- Handle the display with care to avoid breaking the touch sensor.
- Ensure the mounting screws are tightened fully to prevent instability.
To reduce the risks associated with broken glass or impact:
- Always install the display screen from 0 to 90 degrees from horizontal plane. Installation outside this range not recommended.
- Never wall mount the display without the locking mechanism in place.
- Ensure the mounting unit will not adversely affect the stability of the end equipment when installing in free standing equipment
or using the VESA mount.
- Do not use a mounting arm with this display unless it is safety tested and rated for a load greater than the weight of the display.
NOTICE
To reduce the risk of property damage:
- Do not place heavy objects on the display or its cables.
- Always use the VESA holes when mounting the display.
- Do not drill additional holes in the unit to mount plates in other locations.
- Read and follow all installation instructions.
- Only install using the recommended mounting hardware

Connecting the 3M™ Touch Display
1. Turn off power switch on your computer. You should always turn off the computer before connecting or disconnecting a device.
2. Connect (A) USB or Serial cable to the available port on your computer and plug the other end into the back of display.
3. Connect either the (B) Displayport or (C) HDMI or (D) DVI or (E) VGA cable to the video connector on the display. Connect the other end to the video
card in your computer.
4. Connect the power cord to the (F) power connector on the display. Connect the other end of the power cord to an appropriate grounded power source.

Mounting the 3M Touch Display
Note: Always use the mounting holes when attaching the brackets or arm mount. Do not drill additional holes in the unit.
VESA Mounting Option
Each display has a VESA mounting pattern on the back to allow for arm mount capability.
Note: To avoid the risk of potential damage to display electronics:
•
Always use the proper VESA sized mounting holes when using an arm attachment. (See table for correct VESA size.) Do not drill additional holes in
the unit to mount plates at other locations.
•
Do not use screws that are longer than specified in the table, they could potentially damage electronics inside the display.
•
If you choose to use a VESA mount or UL listed wall mount bracket, ensure adequate weight load capability.
•
Follow the manufacturer's instructions included with the mounting device to properly attach your display.

Bracket Mounting Option (Chassis Models Only)
The 3M Touch Chassis Display may come with a hardware accessory kit for mounting the unit into an enclosure. This kit includes screws and mounting
brackets.
Mounting holes are located on 4 sides of the display.
• Always use the supplied screws.
• Brackets can be attached to the edges of the chassis.
Testing the 3M™ Touch Display
Note: The 3M Touch Display has a power status light and video controls.
Before testing your touch display, make sure all cables are connected properly. Be sure to tighten all cable screws. After connection, turn on the power
switch located on the display.
To test that the display is working properly:
1. Turn on your computer.
2. Make sure the video image is displayed. If it is not, check the LED to ensure that the display is not in power save mode (amber).
3. Make sure the video image is centered within the screen area. Use the display controls to adjust the image, if necessary. You can adjust the
horizontal and vertical position, contrast, and brightness to better suit your video card and your personal preference.

Installing the Touch Software
A 3M MicroTouch™ MT 7 Software Driver may be required to operate your display. See the table below to determine if this is required based on your
product and operating system. Refer to the MicroTouch MT7 Software User Guide for complete instructions. These drivers and relevant technical
documentation can be found on the enclosed 3M Touch Solutions CD (31197) and are also available for download from our website at
www.3M.com/touch. After the software is installed, restart your computer to load and activate the touch sensor driver.
