not been followed . How ever, for your safety and to avoid da m age caused by im p ro p er

Technician.

1. In spect the wa t er heater an d its co m ponen t p a rts fo r p ossible d am age. Do Not
install or attem pt to repair any dam aged com ponent p arts. If you det ect any
damage in the water heater, please con t a ct the dea ler where th e w ater heater
was purchased or call A. O. Smith Custom er care.
2. Verify that the voltage being supplied correspond s to that w h ich is m arked
on t h e water hea t er m anual.

DO NOT use this w at er heater if any p art h as been un d er water. Im m ediately con t act a
Qualified Service Techn ician to inspect the water heater and contact A. O. Smith Service
perso n n el to replace a n y part of t h e control system which h as been under water. Failure to
follow this instruction can result in prop erty damage, serious injury or death.

Key Features

Thermal Cutout
If the water temperature exceeds the highest preset level, the thermal cut-out
cuts off the power supply to assure safety.
Temperature Control Knob
The temperature control knob allows you to set the temperature an ywhere
between 25ºC to 75ºC.
Blue Diamond®Glass Lining
Blue Diamond®technology increases the life of the inner tank. The lining is
stronger and more corrosion resistant than any other in the industry.
M ulti-function Safety Valve
The Multi-funct ion safety valve is designed to autom atically relieve pressure and
discharge water in case the pressure o versh o o t s the p reset lim its.
Glass Coated Heating Element
Scale and sediment build-up on the surface of the element can lead to prema-
ture failure. A. O. Smith Glass Coating helps to prevent scale formation and
extends the life of the heating element.
Anode Rod
The tank has an anode rod which has stainless steel core that is designed to
protect the tank from corrosive elements. The anode rod uses a special cathodic
action to fight these elements and thus prolong the life of the water heater.

WARNING
Hot water is dan g erous, especially for ch ildren, aged or the disabled. The
wat er heater allow s you to control the tem pera t ure of your hot wat er. Water
tem peratures over 52°C can cause severe burns insta n t ly o r d eath from scalds.
Do not leave a child or an infirm person in the bath unsupervised.

Note: The Mu lti-function Safety valve may drip during the usage of the heater. As the water
is heated , it expan d s an d t ries to flowback thro u g h the inlet p ipe b u t is prevented b y
the presence o f the non-return valve. Hence water may drip from the Multi-function
Safety valve. Therefore a Discharge t u b e is given from t h e valve tip to a nearby drain.
To avoid dripping , it is recom mended t o install non-retu rn valve at a d istance of
at least 40 feet away from t h e inlet of the water heat er.

Filling the Water Heater Tank
Operation
1. Open a nearby hot water faucet to p ermit
air to escape.
2. Open th e cold wa t er inlet valve fully,
filling the w ater heater a nd the piping .
3. Close hot water faucet w h en water flows.
4. Check all the connections to see if there is
an y leakage. In case of a leakage, drain
the water com pletely, repair the leaking
joint and th en refill the water heater.
CAUTION
This w ater heater should not b e operated with insufficient am ou n t o f water. Failure to
do so may result in damage to the water heater a n d injuries to the user. This w ill also
make t h e warranty null and void.
Once the Mounting , Multi-function Safety valve, Plum b ing and Water filling is
com pleted, then only t h e p ow er supply shou ld b e switched ON.

The po w er cord and plug are co n nect ed with
this water h eater. Find a separate socket for
power plug and m ake sure the socket is in
firm contact with the p lug. Ensure that
reliable eart h ing ha s b een d o n e.
CAUTION
Con n ect the water heater using independ ent sockets, d o n o t u se any ad ap ters. Use
multimet er to check whether the live line and neutral line a re no t reverse, to en sure
com plete safety.
Before installing the water h eater, confirm t h at the p ower of water heat er m atches electric
meter capacity and supp ly wire.
The water heater should be earthed reliably. It is p roh ibited t o connect the earth wire to
neutral wire o r faucet w a t er pipe.

After the water heater reach es set tem perature,
it will enter into t h e Sta n d by mode due to
thermostat cut-o ff and the Power indicator
lamp g low s and Hea t ing ind icat o r lam p switch
off as show n in (Fig. 19)

Whenever th e wat er heater is not used for an

it is below freezing tem perature, you will
need t o unp lug the unit and d ra in it.

The w a t er heater may not operate as desired if used incorrectly or there is a m inor ca u se,
even thoug h t h e prod uct has no fault. In t h ese cases, check the following issues to so lve
simp le problem s with o u t the help from the Customer ca re centre. If t h e p ro b lem d oes not
solve after ch ecking th e following issues, call Custo m er care cent re.

from faulty d esign, w orkma nship and m aterials for a period of 24
month s fro m the d ate of the invoice, subject t o t he fo llowing
conditions:

no ticed and g ive the Com p any or its Aut horised service p rovid er
ad equate opportu nity to inspect , test a nd rem edy th em, for
wh ich t he cu stom er will d eposit the g o od s, if necessary, w ith the
Com pan y's Office / Authorised service pro vider along with th e
original invoice.
2. Special warranty from th e d ate of purchase is subject to t he
following co nditions:

th e tan k. This will make th e warranty null and void.
7. In case o f dry heat ing (water heater operated with out water
inside t h e tan k), if the wa ter h ea ter o r any com p o nent o f the w ater heater is dam aged , then it

Post Warranty
1. The custom er ma y be offered a yearly Service Contra ct at the p revailing Comp a n y rates
an d t erms.
2. In case the custo m er d oes not wish to enter the Service Contract , he has an op t ion to
call our Custom er Care Centre and get A. O. Smith water heat er unit serviced on act u al
basis i.e. by paying the Labour Cost and Spares need ed to attend to that Service or
Com plaint Call at t h e p revailing Com pany rates. Such service will be rend ered b y the
Com pany in t o w n s o r p laces where t h e Comp any has its Aut h o rised service p ro viders.
3. In case of product repair aft er warranty by Authorised service p rovider, all expen ses of
tra nsporting the goods to and from the Authorised service provider shall b e b orne by the
custo m er d irectly.
4. If, during such service, it is necessary for the Com p an y or Auth o rised service p ro vider to
replace o r rep air defective com ponents or p a rts, the custo m er shall be required to p ay
for the sam e as p er the Com pany's prevailing price list.

The courts o f com pet ent jurisdict ion a t Bengaluru, Karnataka shall have exclusive jurisdiction
