When a shipment has been delivered to you in ap parent good cond ition, but up o n o p ening
the packaging if any loss or d a m age has taken p lace wh ile in transit, inform the carrier’s

These instruction s have been written as a guide for the prop er installat ion and opera t ion of
your water heat er. A. O. Smith will not accept any liability where these instruction s have
not been followed . How ever, for your safety and to avoid da m age caused by im p ro p er
installation, it is recom m en d ed that water heater must be installed by a Qualified Service
Technician.
Before proceed ing w ith the insta llation instruct ions:
1. In spect the wa t er heater an d its co m ponen t p a rts fo r p ossible d am age. Do Not
install or attem pt to repair any dam aged com ponent p arts. If you det ect any
damage in the water heater, please con t a ct the dea ler where th e w ater heater
was purchased or call A. O. Smith Custom er care.
2. Verify that the voltage being supplied correspond s to that w h ich is m arked
on t h e water hea t er m anual.
WARNING
DO NOT use this w at er heater if any p art h as been un d er water. Im m ediately con t act a
Qualified Service Techn ician to inspect the water heater and contact A. O. Smith Service
perso n n el to replace a n y part of t h e control system which h as been under water. Failure to
follow this instruction can result in prop erty damage, serious injury or death.

Key Features

Thermal Cutout
If the water temperature exceeds the highest preset level, the thermal cut-out
cuts off the power supply to assure safety.
Temperature Control Knob
The temperature control knob allows you to set the temperature an ywhere
between 25ºC to 75ºC.
Blue Diamond®Glass Lining
Blue Diamond®technology increases the life of the inner tank. The lining is
stronger and more corrosion resistant than any other in the industry.
M ulti-function Safety Valve
The Multi-funct ion safety valve is designed to autom atically relieve pressure and
discharge water in case the pressure o versh o o t s the p reset lim its.
Glass Coated Heating Element
Scale and sediment build-up on the surface of the element can lead to prema-
ture failure. A. O. Smith Glass Coating helps to prevent scale formation and
extends the life of the heating element.
Anode Rod
The tank has an anode rod which has stainless steel core that is designed to
protect the tank from corrosive elements. The anode rod uses a special cathodic
action to fight these elements and thus prolong the life of the water heater.
