General Safety Warnings
Always observe standard safety precautions during installation, operation and
maintenance of this product. Only qualified and authorized personnel should
carry out maintenance or repairs to the components of this system.
DANGER
– ELECTRICAL SHOCK
The power supply unit contains dangerous voltage that can
cause
electric shock. Disconnect the mains prior to any work on the
receiver. Local regulations must be adhered to when servicing
receivers.
Always disconnect the wiring at the power source before installing,
maintaining or modifying the system power wiri
ng.
Outdoor Use:
Wet conditions increase the potential for receiving an
electric shock when installing or using electrically powered
equipment.
Receivers supplied from the mains must be connected to grounded
outlets and in conformity with any local regula
tions.
CAUTION
– COAX CABLE BENDING
Allow sufficient coax cable length to permit routing of patch cords or
pigtails without severe bends.
CAUTION
– STATIC ELECTRICITY
Static electricity poses no risk of personal injury, but it can severely
damage
essential parts of the system if not handled carefully.
Parts of the printed circuit board, as well as other parts of the receiver
are sensitive to electrostatic discharge.
Never touch the printed circuit board or annulated conductor surfaces
unless absol
utely necessary.
If you must handle the printed circuit board or uninsulated conductor
surfaces, use ESD protective equipment, or first touch the receiver
chassis with your hand and then do not move your feet on the floor.
Never let your clothes touch pr
inted circuit boards or uninsulated
conductor surfaces. Always store printed circuit boards in ESD
-safe
bags.

1 Overview
This chapter describes the AB405 system and its package contents.
1.1 What is the AB405?
The ABonAir AB405 provides 33 msec latency figure cable to be upgraded to 7 msec, via a SW upgrade license. It has a
52+ db PSNR picture quality for broadcasting professionals.
ABonAir’s AB405 wireless video system enables camera teams to transmit video directly from cameras to media centers
or OB trucks wirelessly. Built on a bi-directional radio channel between transmitter and receiver, ABonAir's systems
acknowledge the correct acceptance of each group of pixels, thus providing exceptionally robust and reliable
transmission.
•7 Msec Delay (sub frame delay) –For live event coverage and multi-camera production low delay enables the
production of multi-camera and live show without worrying about the delay caused by the simultaneous operation
of different cameras or lip sync.
•High-picture Quality – ABonAir’s H.264 CODEC technology enables accurate frame encoding at high speeds
and excellent picture quality.
•Full resolution support for 1080p60, 1080i, 720p, NTSC, PAL formats and others – To be used with any camera
anywhere in any production.
•MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) Antenna Array – The MIMO array enables sending and receiving more
than one data signal simultaneously over the same radio channel by exploiting multipath propagation.
•Everything in a Single packed case
The AB405 system is comprised of the following components:
•Transmitter –Portable bi-directional radio with per pixel acknowledgement.
•Receiver –The portable receiver provides maximum flexibility for fixed setups or a temporary production.
•Antennas– 4 Antennas enables MIMO radio communication

3 Setup
This chapter describes how to install and connect the AB405 system.
3.1 Transmitter
3.1.1 Connecting to the Camera
The Transmitter has a Lemo 2 pin connector.
To connect the camera:
1 Attached the Transmitter to the camera Hot Shoe.
2 Connect the power cable supplied D-TAP to Lemo 2 pin, one side to the camera battery (D-Tap) and the other
side (Lemo 2 pin) to the Transmitter.
3.1.2 Connecting Video and Audio
To connect video and Audio:
Connect the short SDI cable from the camera output to the SDI DIN connector input in the Transmitter, alternatively, you
can use the HDMI camera output and HDMI cable to connect to the Transmitter. (Only one of the 2 options should be
connected)
A green LED in the Transmitter LCD screen turns on once a valid SDI signal is present.
3.1.3 Installing the Transmitter Antennas
The system includes two 5 dBi short antennas and two 9 dBi long antennas. If you have other antennas you can use them
too. \higher gain antennas (e.g. 12 dBi antennas) provides more range but may require Antenna tilting to compensate for
elevation differences between the Receiver and Transmitter (in cases where the receiver antennas are located on a higher
location, such as on a high rooftop).

3.2 Receiver
3.2.1 Connecting the Monitor/Screen
The receiver outputs one SDI or HDMI signals concurrently. Audio is provided embedded both in SDI or HDMI
The receiver outputs one SDI and one HDMI signal simultaneously.
To connect the Monitor:
1 Connect the power supply to the Receiver
2 Connect the Receiver outputs to the monitor.
3.2.2 Installing the Receiver Antennas
The kit includes two 5 dBi short antennas and two 9 dBi long antennas. If you purchased other antennas you can use
them too. Higher gain antennas (e.g. 12 dBi antennas) provides more range but may require Antenna tilting to
compensate for elevation differences between the Receiver and Transmitter (in cases where the receiver antennas are
located on a higher location, such as on a high rooftop).
Connect both antennas to the antenna ports. RF coax cable can be used to place the antenna away from the Receiver
(e.g the rooftop of OB-Van). Make sure to use a good quality RF cables (such as LMR-400 type), that are no longer than
30 feet length (10 meters).

4 Operation
This chapter describes how to operate the AB405 system once it is installed.
4.1 Wireless Video
1 Connect the SDI or HDMI cables in both sides.
2 Connect power cables in both sides.
3 Turn on the Transmitter and Receiver.
4 The system will start working automatically after approximately 1
minute.
The Receiver LCD panel is a touch panel. You can touch it to manually
change the frequency used by the system
The main display is of the RSSI bar (Receive Signal Strength Indication)
which indicates the wireless reception quality. In most cases you should see
2-3 bars. In case you get 1 bar, this indicates that the system is at the edge of
reception and might have picture disturbances.
