Introduction
These instructions apply to the Configura®Lite chair
by Accora.
Please read them carefully before setting up and
using the chair and keep in a safe place for future
reference.
These instructions include details of the
performance of the chair. f the chair malfunctions,
shows signs of damage or excessive wear, or
otherwise feels unsuitable, please take it out of
service and contact your supplier immediately.
NOTE: This owner’s manual is compiled from the
latest specifications and product information
available at the time of publication. We reserve

you have purchased.
General description of the chair
The Configura®chair is a Rise and Recline chair
(sometimes called Lift and Recline). This chair profiles
to give a comfortable sitting position and help the
user out of the chair.
The chair has a mains powered actuator (motor)
which is controlled by the handset on the side of the
chair. By pressing different buttons, the chair can be
made to rise up or tilt backwards.
These features give a relaxing sitting experience;
however there are risks which all users must be
aware of.

nPinch/Crush Points Hazard! Do not place objects
or appendages in the path of moving parts.
nRead and follow the information in the owner’s
manual.
nDo not exceed maximum weight capacity.
nDo not connect an extension cord to the AC/DC
converter or the battery charger.
nDo not place objects under the footrest when
chair is in fully reclined position. Make sure area is
clear of obstructions, including pets and small
children, during operation.
nDo not cover or place the external transformer
under the chair. Keep in an open, well ventilated
space.
nKeep area free from foreign material and away
from possible pinch points.
nThis chair is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning the use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
nDo not allow children or animals to play with or near
the chair.
nThis chair is an electrical item and should be
treated with caution.
nThe motion lock-out control must be engaged
when the chair is not in use.
nTake care when adjusting positions to avoid
trapping or pinching of body parts.
nAlways ensure that there is nothing to obstruct the
free movement of the chair.
nDo not sit on footrest.
nOnly the occupant or a trainer carer should
operate the chair.
nDo not fall into the chair as this could severely
damage the chair and the mechanism.
Modifications
You should not modify, add, remove, or disable
any feature, part, or function of your lift chair.
Unauthorised modifications may lead to personal
injury and/or product damage and may also void
the product warranty.
Operation Precautions
There are certain precautions that should be taken
during the operation of your lift chair. Read and follow
these precautions carefully in order to ensure safe chair
operation and to prevent injury and/or product
damage.
nPlug the power cord directly into the electrical
outlet. Do not use an extension cord!
nDo not place anything (for example, a drinking
glass) on top of or near the external transformer.
nf the external transformer box or hand control
requires cleaning, unplug the power cord from
the electrical outlet and use a clean, dry cloth or
lightly dampened cloth. Allow ample drying time
before plugging the power cord back into the
electrical outlet.
nPeriodically check the hand control and all power
cords for visible damage.
nKeep the hand control away from all heated
surfaces.
nEnsure the hand control is out of the way before
sitting in the chair.
nKeep children and pets away from all moving
parts while operating the lift chair.
nDo not allow children to play on or operate the
chair. Only the intended user should operate the
chair.
nAvoid pinch points, such as the lift and scissor
mechanisms. Keep hands and feet clear of these
areas.
nDo not sit or stand on the footrest.
nDo not “drop” into the chair when sitting if it is in a
partially raised position.
Purchaser’s Agreement
By accepting delivery of this product, you agree that
you will not change, alter, or modify this product or
remove or render inoperable or unsafe any guards,
shields, or other safety features of this product; fail,
refuse, or neglect to install any retrofit kits from time to
time provided to enhance or preserve the safe use
of this product.
Shipping and Delivery
Before using your chair, make sure your delivery is
complete as some components may be individually
packaged. f you do not receive a complete
delivery, please contact your supplier immediately.
Where damage has occurred during transport, either
to the packaging or content, please contact the
delivery company or your supplier.

Chair Assembly
The chair will be delivered with the backrest removed
as shown in fig 1.
1. Check that the locking clip on the back of the
chair is in the vertical position. Reposition if
necessary. A picture of the locking clip is shown in
fig 2.
2. Place the hand control and cable over the chair
base, then slide the back onto the base.
NOTE: Dependin on chair width, you may need to
slide on one side of the back at a time. If this is the
case, level the chair-back before pressin down to
lock into position.
3. Locate the bracket on the backrest that locates
with the locking clip shown in fig 3.
4. Push firmly on the top of the back to lock into
position. You must hear a click from each side of
the chair to ensure the back is locked in properly.
Removing the Backrest
To remove the backrest, recline the chair so that the
backrest clips are visible. Raise the tongue on each
clip and pull the backrest away from the chair.
t is often easier to release one clip first, then lift the
backrest a small distance while releasing the other
clip.
Chair Placement
The chair should be placed near a standard
electrical outlet on dry, level ground where there is
ample room to allow for proper operation. t must be
place on a surface which is appropriate to take the
weight of the chair and an adequate safety margin.
We recommend that you have the assistance of an
assistant when positioning the chair to avoid the
possibility of injury when lifting.
Follow these steps to position the chair in a safe
manner:
1. Place the back of the lift chair 40cm from the
nearest obstruction while the chair is in the seated
position. This measurement may vary depending
on model.
2. Position the external transformer on the floor in an
open, well-ventilated area where it will not be an
obstruction.
3. Position the low voltage connection cable where
it will not be pinched between the frame and the
lift mechanism.
4. Connect the low voltage connection cable to the
external transformer if it is not already connected.
5. Plug the power cord directly into the electrical
outlet. Do not use an extension cord!

How to use the handset -
Configura®Medium
The handset has two buttons to control the
adjustment of the chair. The left hand button returns
the chair from a reclined position and then lifts the
chair. The right hand button returns the chair from the
lifted position and then tilts the chair into a reclined
position.
How to use the handset -
Configura®Small
Button 1 – back up, footrest down, chair rises
Button 2 – chair lowers, footrest up back down and
tilts back
Button 3 – key lock
Always warn the user before chan in the position of
the chair.
Maintenance
Warnin : Ensure chair is disconnected from the
power supply before startin any service work.
Ensure the chair is on a stable surface and no-one
can attempt to use the chair.
The chair should be serviced every 12 months by a
competent engineer with electrical and mechanical
skill. The key points for servicing are:
1. Ensure all moving parts are lubricated at relevant
points.
2. Ensure all electrical cables are not frayed or
trapped by moving parts.
3. The chair is stable and on a level surface.
A full parts and accessories list is available on request.
Troubleshooting
Occasionally the chair may stop working.
Some possible reasons for this are:
1. Power supply. Please try another power source.
2. Connections to the transformer. The cables to the
transformer can become disconnected. Please
ensure these are connected correctly.
3. Handset cord damaged. f the handset cord is
showing signs of damage, stop using the chair
immediately and call your authorised provider.
Pressure
The Configura®Lite has an optional Visco foam
overlay with vapour permeable and waterproof black
breathable fabric. This could be useful for user pressure
reduction and comfort. The overlay comprises the
fabric section of the seat base and the footrest. This is
removable for cleaning and replacing. t is fixed with
Velcro on the underside of the seat base and Velcro
straps that attach to the footrest.
To remove, carefully pull the overlay away from the
seat box, starting in one of the corners underneath
the backrest cushions as shown in fig 5.
Keep pulling the seat base part of the overlay until it
is removed completely.
There are flaps which attach around the footrest.

Carefully separate the Velcro and the overlay will be
detached from the chair. See fig 6.
Fitting Configura®Lite Self-supply
overlay
Remove standard overlay.
Undo zip on the seat base cushion (underneath the
overlay) as much as possible.
Remove seat base cushion carefully.
Fit self-supply overlay.
nsert self-supply cushion of choice into the cut-out
on the self-supply overlay.

Fitting Configura®Lite 1” and 2” Height
Adjustment Kits
1. Turn the chair on its side or back.
2. Remove the standard feet from the chair using a
17mm spanner if necessary for the feet at the
back of the chair (remember store them carefully).
3. Replace the feet with the 1” Height Adjustment Kit
– this raises the seat height by 1”.

4. Turn the chair back onto its feet.

Each Configura®Lite has an D number on the base
frame. This number must be quoted in any
correspondence with Accora.
Changing the backrest cushions
The backrest cushions are attached by Velcro strips
to the backrest and may be removed for easy
cleaning. Starting from the top cushion, carefully
separate the Velcro as shown in fig 7.
The three cushions are removed in the same way.
When all the cushions are removed, the backrest will
look like fig 8. The middle and bottom cushions are
exactly the same.

Upholstery care
nSmall dust and dirt particles can increase wear
and tear of the fabric and dull the surface
appearance, therefore we recommend that you
brush your furniture regularly using a soft brush or
lightly vacuum.
nAccora cannot be held responsible for any
damage caused by cleaning.
nYour upholstery should not be exposed to direct
sunlight for long periods of time as this will cause
your upholstery to fade. f your furniture is
positioned where it is exposed to sunlight for
prolonged periods, ensure your curtains and
blinds are drawn for protection.
nEnsure your furniture is protected from sharp
objects or buckles as these may cause the fabric
to snag. f this occurs do not pull the thread,
carefully trim it with scissors.
nDo not allow animals onto this furniture as their
claws may cause damage to the fabric. Animals
also have a degree of oil in their coats, and this
may transfer to the upholstery causing premature
wear.
nThe arms are designed for resting your arms only.
Do not sit on them as this could cause structural
damage to the product.
Cleaning
nTo remove light stains use warm water and an
ordinary detergent.
nScrape off solids, do not scrape against the grain
of the fabric.
nMore difficult stains will benefit from a safe solvent
such as sopropyl Alcohol or Mineral Spirit.
nDo not dry clean and do not immerse the fabric
fully in water.

of the Furniture and Furnishings (fire) (safety)
Regulations 1988.
Standard foam
The standard foam on the Configura®meets the
requirement of the Furniture and Furnishings (fire)
(safety) Regulations 1988.
Visco foam
The Visco foam on the Configura®meets the
requirement of the Furniture and Furnishings (fire)
(safety) Regulations 1988.
Noise re ulations
The chair does not exceed 70db(A) in normal
operation.
The Configura®Lite chair is a Medical Device Class 1.
General Protection
Protect from the elements.
nUse only on a level debris free surface.
nDo not allow the mechanism to become
waterlogged.
nDo not use abrasive cleaners on the mechanism.
nDo not use solvents or flammable fluids on the
mechanism.
Electrical Limitations
nDisconnect from the electrical supply before
moving.
nDisconnect from the electrical supply before
undertaking any maintenance.
nUse only genuine spare parts from the original
manufacturer.
nThe mechanism is designed to be unusable in
the event of a power failure unless fitted with a
battery backup or rechargeable system. The
number of movements will depend on the
system fitted together with any loading conditions
prevailing.
nDo not increase the electrical fuse size in the
plug top or attempt to connect any other mains
connection to the appliance.
nDo not operate the controller for more than
2 minutes continuously in any 20 minute period.
nDo not cover the transformer; Air cooling is
required.

Cleaning Upholstery Fabrics

Introduction
Cleaning upholstery fabrics requires an
understanding of the fabric you are going to
clean and how it reacts to a cleaning chemical.
The upholstered furniture (see picture) will have one
of the following covers…
Each of these fabrics may be wet cleaned using
water based cleaning agents although the degree
of moisture required to carry out the cleaning will
differ due to the absorbency of the fabric.
