Installing the System into a Rack
ThissectionprovidesinformationoninstallingtheAcnodesRMC7185intoarack.Ifthesystemhas
alreadybeenmounted into a rack, you canskipahead to Sections 2-5 and 2-6.Note:This rail will fit a
rack between 26" and 33.5" deep.
Thereareavarietyofrackunitsonthemarket,whichmaymeantheassemblyprocedurewill differ
slightly.The following is a guideline for installing the RMC7185 into a rack with the rack rails provided.
Youshould also refertotheinstallationinstructionsthat came with therackunityou are using.
Identifying the Sections of the Rack Rails
Eachassemblyconsistsoftwosections:aninnerfixedchassisrailthatsecuresdirectlytotheserver
chassisandanouterfixedrackrailthatsecures directly to the rack itself.

Inner Rails
Themotherboardchassisincludesasetofinnerrailsintwosections:innerrailsandinnerrailextensions.
Theinnerrailsarepre-attachedanddonotinterfere with normal use of the chassis if you decide not to
usea server rack.Attachthe inner rail extension to stabilizethechassiswithintherack.
Installing the Rack Rails
1. Placetheinnerrack extensions on the side of the chassisaligningthehooks of the chassis with the
railextension holes. Make sure the extension faces"outward"justlikethepre-attachedinner rail.
2. Slidetheextensiontowardthefrontofthechassis.
3. Securethechassiswithtwo screws as illustrated.
4. Repeatsteps1-3fortheother inner rail extension.

Outer Rails
Installingthe OuterRailsto theRack
1. Attachthe short bracket to the outsideofthelongbracket.Youmustalignthe pins with the slides.
Also,bothbracketendsmust face the same direction.
2. Adjustboththeshortandlongbracketstotheproperdistanceso thattherailfitssnugly into the rack.
3. Securethelongbracket to the front side of the outerrailwith two M5 screws and the short bracketto
therearsideoftheouter rail with three M5 screws.
4. Repeatsteps 1-4 for the leftouter rail.

Installing the Chassis into a Rack
1. Confirmthatchassisincludestheinnerrailsandrailextensions.Also,confirm that theouterrailsare
installedon the rack.
2. Linechassisrails with the front of therackrails.
3. Slidethechassis rails into the rack rails, keepingthepressure even on both sides (you mayhaveto
depressthe locking tabs when inserting).Whentheserverhas been pushed completely intotherack,you
shouldhearthelockingtabs"click".
4. (Optional)Insert and tighteningthethumbscrewsthat hold thefrontofthe server totherack.

Installing the Server into a Telco Rack
ToinstalltheAcnodes RMC7185 into aTelcotype rack, use two L-shapedbracketson eithersideof the
chassis(four total). First, determine howfarfollowtheserverwill extend out the frontoftherack.Larger
chassisshouldbepositionedtobalancetheweightbetweenfrontandback.Ifabezelis included on your
server,remove it.Then attach the two front bracketsto each side of the chassis, then the two rear brack-
etspositionedwithjustenoughspace to accommodate the width of the telco rack. Finish by sliding the
chassisintotherackandtighteningthebrackets to the rack.
