Tips for Better Sling Application

Actimove®Sling Application Guide
Product Use – Humeral splinting: post-casting or post-operative support
•Measure the sling starting
from the head of the humerus
and looping around the neck
& opposite shoulder.
•Cut sling, allowing for
enough length to secure the
wrist loop.
• You will apply 2 Y-tabs later.
1.
• Measure, cut, & trim the
appropriate length of
Delta-Cast®Prelude splint
as directed in Education
Training Manual –
“Coaptation (Humeral)
Splint”.
2.
•Open Delta-Cast®Prelude
padding at proximal end of
splint (the end placed on
the shoulder)
•Cut an approximately 2"
long slit across the berglass
about .25" wide, leaving the
edges of the berglass intact
(See Part 4 image).
3.
•Close padding
•Cut slit in padding in the
middle of the berglass cut
•Prepare Delta-Cast®
Prelude as directed.
•Pull the Actimove sling
through the proximal slit
cut in the Delta-Cast®
Prelude® material.
•Attach Y-tab to end of
sling and loop to close.
•Place splint with attached
sling on top of shoulder
•Make sure to pull far
enough up the shoulder,
but not so far that the
splint irritates the neck.
•Wrap splint as directed
with an elastic or crepe
bandage and mold.
•Bring the sling around the
opposite shoulder and
position between the body
and wrist.
•Attach a second Y-tab
to the end of the sling
•Loop the sling around the
wrist to close
•Adjust the Y-tab, raising
the hand slightly if
required, to help reduce
swelling.
