Product Warranty (2 years)
Advantech warrants the original purchaser that each of its products will be free from
defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the date of purchase.
This warranty does not apply to any products that have been repaired or altered by
persons other than repair personnel authorized by Advantech, or products that have
been subject to misuse,abuse, accident, orimproper installation. Advantech assumes
no liability under the terms of this warranty as a consequence of such events.
Because of Advantech’s high quality-control standards and rigorous testing, most
customers never need to use our repair service. If an Advantech product is defective,
it will be repaired or replaced free of charge during the warranty period. For out-of-
warranty repairs, customers will be billed according to the cost of replacement mate-
rials, service time, and freight. Please consult your dealer for more details.
If you believe your product is defective, follow the steps outlined below.
1. Collect all the information about the problem encountered. (For example, CPU
speed, Advantech products used, other hardware and software used, etc.) Note
anything abnormal and list any onscreen messages displayed when the prob-
lem occurs.
2. Call your dealer and describe the problem. Please have your manual, product,
and any helpful information readily available.
3. If your product is diagnosed as defective, obtain a return merchandise authori-
zation (RMA) number from your dealer. This allows us to process your return
more quickly.
4. Carefully pack the defective product, a completed Repair and Replacement
Order Card, and a proof of purchase date (such as a photocopy of your sales
receipt) into a shippable container. Products returned without a proof of pur-
chase date are not eligible for warranty service.
5. Write the RMA number clearly on the outside of the package and ship the pack-
age prepaid to your dealer.

Intended USE: The AIM-89H is intended for integration with hospital system. It is
designedfor generalpurposefor hospital environment.For data collection anddisplay
for reference. It shall not be used for life-supporting system.
The device provides input through touch panel, hard keys located at the bottom of it,
accessories through USB ports or its LAN/WLAN connections. The device computes
the input data with its processing unit and then output the generated data to LCD
panel, accessories or other devices through its I/O ports or through its LAN/WLAN
connections. The device is able to store data in its storage, and when the device is
turned off, still maintain the data in the memory units of the storage.

Safety Precautions - Static Electricity
Follow these simple precautions to protect yourself from harm and the products from
damage.
◼To avoid electrical shock, always disconnect the power from the PC chassis
before manual handling. Do not touch any components on the CPU card or
other cards while the PC is powered on.
◼Disconnect the power before making any configuration changes. Asudden rush
of power after connecting a jumper or installing a card may damage sensitive
electronic components.

Safety Instructions
1. Read these safety instructions carefully.
2. Retain this user manual for future reference.
3. Repair of the device may also only be carried out by trained service personnel.
4. Advantech recommends that a service contract be obtained with Advantech
Service and that all repairs also be carried out by them. Otherwise the correct
functioning of the device may be compromised.
Warning! Because of the danger of electric shock, never remove the box of a
device while it is in operation or connected to a power outlet.

5. If any of the following occurs, have the equipment checked by service person-
nel:
–The power cord or plug is damaged.
–Liquid has penetrated the equipment.
–The equipment has been exposed to moisture.
–The equipment is malfunctioning, or does not operate according to the user
manual.
–The equipment has been dropped and damaged.
–The equipment shows obvious signs of breakage.
6. Disconnect the equipment from all power outlets before cleaning. Use only a
damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid or spray detergents.
7. Protect the equipment from humidity.
Caution! To avoid short-circuits and otherwise damaging the device, do not allow
fluids to come in contact with the device. If fluids are accidentally spilled
on the equipment, remove the affected unit from service assoon as pos-
sible and contact service personnel to verify that patient safety is not
compromised.

8. For pluggable equipment, the power outlet socket must be located near the
equipment and easily accessible.
9. Place the equipment on a reliable surface during installation. Dropping or letting
the equipment fall may cause damage.
10. Do not leave this equipment in an uncontrolled environment where the Storage
temperature is below 0°C or above 45°C. This may damage the equipment.

11. Grounding reliability can only be achieved when the equipment is connected to
an equivalent receptacle marked “Hospital Only” or “Hospital Grade”.
12. Use a power cord that matches the voltage of the power outlet, which has been
approved and complies with the safety standard of your particular country.
13. If the integrity of the protective earth conductor is in doubt. Please turn off the
power switch.
14. To disconnect this product from the mains supply disconnects the mains plug
from the socket outlet. The power supply is regarded as part of this equipment.
15. Make sure user not to contact SIP/SOPs and the patient at the same time.
16. Do not switch on/off the power switch of the battery system during operation.
Warning! To avoid risk of electric shock, this equipment must only be connected
to a supply mains with protective earth.

17. The power cord for use on the device shall be no less robust than ordinary
tough rubber sheathed flexible cord (IEC 60245-1:2003, Annex A, designation

AnnexA, design. 53. Forthe US/CAthe requirements of the NEC and Canadian
code shall be followed (US and CA national differences).

wheels and brake shall be replaced/send back to maintain by the manu-
facturer every two years, risks of function failure, electrical shock, equip-
ment damage, environment pollution and etc. may occur if not doing so.

18. If your computer clock is unable to keep accurate time, please check the battery.
Caution! When the battery has problem of charging. Please contact a qualified
technician or your retailer.
The computer is provided with a battery-powered real-time clock circuit.
There is a danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace
only with same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.
Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions.

25. Accessory equipment connected to analog and digital interfaces must be in
compliance with the respective nationally harmonized IEC standards (i.e. IEC
60950 for data processing equipment, IEC 60065 for video equipment, IEC
61010-1 for laboratory equipment, and IEC 60601-1 for medical equipment.)
Furthermore, all configurations shall comply with IEC 60601-1 ME system. Any-
one who connects additional equipment to the signal input part or signal output
part is configuring a medical system, and is therefore, responsible that the sys-
tem complies with the requirements of IEC 60601-1 ME system. The unit is for

2.1 Battery Caution
Caution! Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with
the same type recommended by the manufacturer, discard used batter-
ies according to the manufacturer's instructions.

2.1.1 Battery Charge Notice
It is important to consider the environment temperature whenever you are charging
the Lithium-Ion battery pack. The process is more efficient at normal room tempera-
ture or slightly cooler. It is essential that you charge batteries within the stated range
of 0°C to 40°C. Charging batteries outside of the specified range could damage the
batteries and shorten their charging life cycle.
2.1.2 Storage and Safety Notice
Although charge Lithium-Ion batteries may be left unused for several months, their
capacity may be depleted due to the buildup of internal resistance. If this happens
they will require recharging prior to use. Lithium Ion batteries may be stored at tem-
peratures between -20° C to 60° C, however they may be depleted more rapidly at
the high end of this range. It is recommended to store within normal room tempera-
ture ranges.

2.2 Connecting to Power Supply
The Tablet Computer operates either on externalAC power or internal battery power.
It is recommended to use AC power when you start up the Tablet Computer for the
first time.
Warning! Use only the AC adapter that included with your Tablet PC. Using other
AC adapters may damage the Tablet PC and the Battery. For users start
up the Tablet PC for the first time with internal battery power, please
make sure the battery is fully charged before using.

Perform the following to connect the Tablet pc to AC Power:
2.2.1 On the side of the Tablet PC, lift the I/O protective cover by pulling on the latch.
2.2.2 Securely plug the power cord fully into the AC adapter inlet.
