Safety warnings
For the user
 The cooker hood is designed to extract unpleasant odours from the
kitchen, it will not extract steam.
 Always cover lighted elements, to prevent excess heat from
damaging the appliance. In the case of oil, gas and coal fired
cookers it is essential to avoid open flames.
 Also, when frying, keep the deep frying pan on the cooker top/
cooker under careful control.
 The hot oil in the frying pan might ignite due to overheating.
 The risk of self-ignition increases when the oil eing used is dirty.
 It is extremely important to note that overheating can cause a fire.
Never carry out any flambé cooking under the hood.
Always disconnect the unit from the power supply before
carrying out any work on the hood, including replacing the
light bulb (take the cartridge fuse out of the fuse holder or switch
off the automatic circuit reaker).
It is very important to clean the hood and replace the filter at
the recommended intervals. Failure to do so could cause
grease deposits to build up, resulting in a fire hazard.
This appliance is marked according to the European directive 2002/96/
EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

For the installer
 When used as an extractor unit, the hood must e fitted with a hose
having prefera ly the same diameter as the outlet hole.
Only 5708 D: this model is equipped with two outlet hole. 2 hoses
are therefore necessary for discharging the fumes.
When installing the hood, make sure you respect the following
minimum distance from the top edge of the cooking hob/ring
surfaces:
electric cookers 650 mm
models (CH)DL 4150-HL 4150-DL6250 only 600 mm
gas cookers 700 mm
The hood can e installed a ove these heights ut for optimum
performance it should e installed at the distance quoted for the
appropriate heat source.
 The national standard on fuel- urning systems specifies a maxi-
mum depression of 0.04 ar in such rooms.
 The air outlet must not e connected to chimney flues or com us-
tion gas ducts. The air outlet must under no circumstances e
connected to ventilation ducts for rooms in which fuel- urning
appliances are installed.
 The air outlet installation must comply with the regulations laid down
y the relevant authorities.
 When the unit is used in its extractor version, a sufficiently large
ventilation hole must e provided, with dimensions that are
approximately the same as the outlet hole.
 National and regional uilding regulations impose a num er of
restrictions on using hoods and fuel- urning appliances connected
to a chimney, such as coal or oil room-heaters and gas fires, in the
same room.
 Hoods can only e used safely with appliances connected to a
chimney if the room and/or flat (air/environment com ination) is
ventilated from outside using a suita le ventilation hole approxi-
mately 500-600 cm2 large to avoid the possi ility of a depression
eing created during operation of the hood.
 If you have any dou ts, contact the relevant controlling authority or
uilding inspectors office.
 Since the rule for rooms with fuel urning appliances is outlet hole
of the same size as the ventilation hole, a hole of 500-600 cm2,
which is to say a larger hole, could reduce the performance of the
extractor hood.
 If the hood is used in its filtering function, it will operate simply and
safely in the a ove conditions without the need for any of the
5
aforementioned measures.
 When the hood is used in its extractor function, the following rules
must e followed to o tain optimal operation:
 short and straight outlet hose
 keep ends in outlet hose to a minimum
 never install the hoses with an acute angle, they must always
follow a gentle curve.
 keep the hose as large as possi le (prefera ly the same diam-
eter as the outlet hole).
 Failure to o serve these asic instructions will drastically reduce the
performance and increase the noise levels of the extractor hood.

Description of the Appliance
he cooker hood is designed to extract unpleasant odours
from the kitchen, it will not extract steam.
 The hood is supplied as an extractor unit and can also e used with
a recirculation mode y fitting a charcoal filter.
 In some models the charcoal filter is supplied. The hood, therefore,
can e used immediately in the recirculation mode. We advise
removing the charcoal filter to use the hood in the extraction mode.
Extraction mode
 In this mode fumes are extracted to the outside via a hose
connected to the coupling ring. Fig. 1.
 In order to o tain the est performance the hose should have a
diameter equal to the outlet hole.
Only 5708 D: this model is equipped with two outlet hole. 2 hoses
are therefore necessary for discharging the fumes.
Only for model DL 4150-CHDL 4150-HL 4150:
Should there already e an hose of diameter 100 mm that ducts to
the outside through the walls or roof, it is possi le to use the 120/
100 mm adapter. In this case the hood will e slightly noisier.
Filter Version
 The air is filtered through a charcoal filter and
returned to the kitchen. Fig. 2.
 You will need an original charcoal filter for the
filtering function. (See Special Accessories).

 Best results are o tained y using a low speed for normal
conditions and a high speed when odours are more concentrated.
Turn the hood on a few minutes efore you start cooking, you will
then get an under pressure in the kitchen. The hood should e left
on after cooking for a out 15 minutes or until all the odours have
disappeared.
The switches are located on the right-hand side of the hood.
 the light switch switches the hood lamp on and off
 the motor switch switches the motor on and off, ena ling you to
select one of the three different speeds.

Maintenance and care
he hood must always be disconnected from the electricity
supply before beginning any maintenance work.
Cleaning the hood
 Clean the outside of the hood using a damp cloth and a mild deter-
gent.
 Never use corrosive, a rasive or flamma le cleaning products.
 Never insert pointed o jects in the motors protective grid.
 Wash the outside surfaces using a delicate detergent solution.
Never use caustic detergents or a rasive rushes or powders.
 Only ever clean the switch panel and filter grille using a damp cloth
and delicate detergents.
 It is extremely important to clean the unit and change the filters at
the recommended intervals. Failure to do so will cause grease
deposits to uild up that could constitute a fire hazard.
Metal grease filter
 The purpose of the grease filters is to a sor grease particles which
form during cooking and it must always e used, either in the
external extraction or internal recycling function.
Attention: the metal grease filters must e removed and washed,
either y hand or in the dishwasher, every four weeks.

Hand washing
Soak grease filters for a out one hour in hot water with a little
washing up liquid added, then rinse off thoroughly with hot water.
Repeat the process if necessary. Refit the grease filters when they
are dry.
Dishwasher
Place grease filters in the dishwasher. Select most powerful
washing programme and highest temperature, at least 65°C.
Repeat the process. Refit the grease filters when they are dry.
When washing the metal grease filter in the dishwasher a slight
discolouration of the filter can occur, this does not have any impact
on its performance.
 Clean the inner housing using a hot detergent solution only (never
use caustic detergents, a rasive powders or rushes).

Charcoal filter
 The charcoal filter should only e used if you want to use the hood
in the recirculation function.
 To do this you will need an original charcoal filter (availa le from
your local Service Force Centre).
Replacing the charcoal filter ype 150
Note: this filter is already installed on model 570 D-m9.
This filter cannot e cleaned or reused.
As a general rule, the activated charcoal filter should e changed
once every 4 months.
Cleaning/replacing the charcoal filter ype 150 LONG LIFE
Unlike other charcoal filters, the LONGLIFE charcoal filter can e
cleaned and reactivated. At normal use the filter should e cleaned
every second month (when using the hood 2,5 hours per day, on
avarage). The est way to clean the filter is in the dishwasher. Use
normal detergent and choose the highest temperature (65º C).
Wash the filter separately so that no food parts gets stuck on the
filter and later causes ad odours. To reactivate the charcoal, the
filter should e dried in an oven for 10 minutes with a maximum
temperature of 100ºC.
After approximately three years of use, the charcoal filter should e
replaced with a new, as the odour reduction capacity will e
reduced.
Fitting
Remove the grease filter.
Fit the charcoal filter on the lamp side, press in oth red lugs on the
charcoal filter, and unclip the charcoal filter forwards (towards the
front edge of the appliance).
