observe the following:
oRead all instructions before using the appliance
oUse this appliance only for its intended purpose as
described in this user manual
oDo not use any accessories not recommended by the
manufacturer

oInstallation work and electrical wiring must be done by
qualified technicians in accordance with all applicable
codes and standards, including fire-rates construction
oSufficient air is needed for proper exhausting of gases of
fuel burning equipment through the chimney to prevent

power to the existing unit before removal

o:hen cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, be careful
not to damage existing electrical wiring and other hidden
utilities
o'ucted fans must always be vented to the outdoors

WARNING ʹto reduce risk of cooktop grease fire:
oNever leave cooking unattended at high settings. Boil-
overs cause smoking and greasy spillovers may ignite.
Heat oils slowly on low or medium settings
oAlways turn the hood on when cooking at high heat or
when cooking flaming food (i.e. Crepes Suzette, Cherries
Jubilee, Flambés)
oClean ventilation fans frequently. Do not allow grease to
accumulate on the fan or filter
oUse proper sized pans that correspond to the size of the
stove and the amount of food being cooked
WARNING ʹto reduce risk of personal injury in the event of
a cooktop grease fire:
oSmother flames with a close-fitting lid, metal tray, or
baking sheet. Then turn the burner OFF. BE CAREFUL TO
AVOID BURNS. If the flames are not extinguished
immediately, evacuate and call the fire department.
oNEVER pick-up a flaming pan
oDO NOT use water, including wet dishcloths or towels
to put out a fire. A violent steam explosion may result
oUse a fire extinguisher only if:
a. You know that you have a Class ABC extinguisher and
know how to use it
b. The fire is small and contained in the area it started
c. The fire department is being called
d. You can use the extinguisher with your back to an exit

Grounding Instructions
oThis appliance must be grounded. In the event of an
electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of
electrical shock by providing an escape wire for the
electrical current. This appliance is equipped with a cord
having a grounding wire with a grounding plug. The plug
must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed
and grounded.
oImproper grounding can result in a risk of electric shock.
Consult a qualified electrician if the grounding
instructions are not properly understood, or if doubt
exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded.
Do not use an extension cord. If the power supply cord is
too short, have a qualified electrician install an outlet
near the appliance

Minimum Safety Height Requirement
1. The range hood should be mounted
at a distance of 600mm from an
electric or in cooktop, and
762mm above a gas cooktop for
safety and m performance. If
the instruc ons for installa of the
gas cooktop specify a greater
distance, this has to be taken into
account. (see pic 1) The exhaust air must
not be discharged into a chimney which is used for
exhaus ng fumes from other appliances burning gas or
other fuels.

The base of the AEG insert hood is made of stainless steel and uses a
stainless steel filter. There are no components on the lower
side of the hood. In the housing of the motor is metal.
These hoods are tested at 24” above gas cooktops in the produc n
test facility. At this height, igni on is not possible. The hoods can be
installed 24” above gas cooktops.

Note: this procedure will require 2 people for easier in on
General Preparaon
Remove rangehood from packaging and lay upside down on
table covered with cardboard or paper to prevent
scratching ohe hood or table

Cabinet Prepara on for Hood Support
The range hood should be mounted at a distance of 24”
from an electric or indu on cooktop, and 30”above a
gas cooktop for safety and op mum performance.
If you install the hood with a duct,
you will need to provide a hole for
the duct. Please use the template
provided to locate the hole.
