1.2 Definition of Measurement Categories
CAT I: FormeasurementsoncircuitsnotdirectlyconnectedtotheAC
supply wall outlet such as protected secondaries, signal level,
andlimitedenergycircuits.
CAT II: For measurements performed on circuits directly connected to
the electrical distribution system. Examples are measurements
onhouseholdappliancesorportabletools.
CAT III: For measurements performed in the building installation at
the distribution level such as on hardwired equipment in xed
installation and circuit breakers.
CAT IV: For measurements performed at the primary electrical supply
(<1000V) such as on primary overcurrent protection devices,
ripplecontrolunits,ormeters.

TheAC/DCCurrentProbeModelMR6292isanaccessoryforthe
AEMC®Micro-OhmmeterModel6292.TheModelMR6292probeis
requiredforusingtheModel6292totakemeasurementsinBSG(both
sidesgrounded)mode.
Theprobeisdesignedtomeetthelatestsafetyandperformance
standards.Theprobe’shook-shapedjawsenableyouto“pry”intoor
“hook”ontocables(itwillaccept2x500MCM)orsmallbusbars.
TheModelMR6292usesHalleffecttechnology.Allelectronicsareself-
containedinthehandle.Theoutputoftheprobeis10mV/A.Nobatteryis
required;theprobeoperatesviavoltageprovidedbytheModel6292.
TheprobehasaproportionalmVoutputfordirectreadingontheModel
6292.

Model6292toperformmeasurementsinBSG(bothsidesgrounded)mode.
ForadditionalinformationaboutusingtheMicro-OhmmeterModel6292,
refertotheusermanualontheUSBStickthatshipswiththeinstrument.
4.1 Making Measurements
1. PlugtheprobeintotheModel6292.
3. TurnthepowertotheModel6292ON.
4. ThegreenLEDontheModelMR6292shouldbelit.IftheLEDdoes
notcomeONorgoesOFFafterafewminutes;checktoensurethat
theModel6292instrumentisstillpoweredON,andthattheModel
MR6292issecurelypluggedintotheinstrument’ssocket.
5. SetupatestontheMicro-ohmmeterModel6292,asinstructedby
theinstrument’susermanual(locatedontheUSBstick).
6. Clamptheprobeonthegroundconductortobetested,thenstartthe
test.TheModel6292willdisplaythemeasuredgroundconductor
currentasthe“Ig”readingontheinstrument’sLCDdisplaypanel:

• To avoid electrical shock, do not attempt to perform any servicing
unlessyouarequaliedtodoso.
• Toavoidelectricalshockand/ordamagetotheinstrument,donotget
waterorotherforeignagentsintothecase.TurnthecurrentprobeOFF
anddisconnecttheunitfromallthecircuitsbeforeopeningthecase.
5.1 Cleaning
• Cleanthebodyoftheclampwithaclothlightlymoistenedwithsoapy
water.
• Wipecleanwithaclothmoistenedwithcleanwateranddry.
• Do not use solvent.

fromthedateoforiginalpurchaseagainstdefectsinmanufacture.Thislimited
warranty is given byAEMC® Instruments, not by the distributor from whom
itwaspurchased.This warrantyisvoidiftheunithasbeentamperedwith,
abusedorifthedefectisrelatedtoservicenotperformedbyAEMC®Instru-
ments.
