P/N 6010559, REVISION C
OCTOBER 2017

This guide will walk you through the setup screens required to make the
unit run and log data. The logged data can then be downloaded to a USB
thumb drive.
IMPORTANT
Before turning the unit ON, make sure the fill and drain bottles are
connected appropriately. If the fill and drain bottles are not connected, the
unit cannot keep the wicks wet. Fill the fill bottle with ultrapure, de-ionized
or distilled water only. DO NOT use tap water or filtered water.
•Connections to the unit for the Fill and Drain bottle are shown below.
•The top connector connects to the fill bottle and the bottom connector
connects to the drain bottle.

Quick Start Guide 3
•Power the unit ON using the “power” button. The Cleanroom
Condensation Particle Counter (CPC) will take about 10 to 15 minutes
to warm-up. The warm-up screen is shown below.
•Wait for all the warm-up screen “reds” to turn green. If you really need
to exit the warm-up screen, press the Power Down button on the
instrument and then select “Cancel” from the Power Down screen.
This will bring you to the Main page shown below.

•Typically, if the unit is turned on and the temperatures have not
reached their stable state, you will not be able to run the unit and a
message “warming up” will be displayed. You can setup the unit while
the unit is warming up.
•For instrument setup, go to the “Setup” tab.
•Click on “Device.”
•Select “Maintenance."

Quick Start Guide 5
The maintenance screen has a number of useful features as described
below.
Field Description
Prime Wicks Whenever wicks are replaced or the unit is fully
shut off for prolonged periods of time (> 1 day),
wicks need to be primed. Click “Prime Wicks”
and the instrument will go through a priming cycle
that injects water to all three wicks. Make sure the
fill and drain bottles are connected to the unit. Unit
will go through the prime cycle on its own.
Drain Wicks The instrument needs to be drained before
transporting it to a different location. Make sure
the drain bottle is connected and the fill bottle is
disconnected. Note that if the fill bottle is
connected, you will never be able to drain the
wicks. Unit will go through the drain cycle on its
own.
Enable Flow Turns the pump on or off. See information below
to purge the system.
New Wicks Reset
DO NOT USE.
This is for TSI use only.
Bottle Counter
Reset If you refill the bottle with ultrapure, de-ionized, or
distilled water, click “Bottle Counter Reset.” This
allows the instrument to keep track of the amount
of water used and notify you if the fill bottle is
getting empty.
IMPORTANT
When shipping make sure you drain the water from the unit by clicking on
“DrainWicks”. First, you must disconnect the water fill bottle from the unit
and keep the drain bottle connected to the device.

Powering the Unit Down
To power down the unit, press the “power” button on the front panel.
The unit can be powered down by pressing the “Turn Off” button. You do
not need to have the fill and drain bottles connected to the unit after it is
completely powered down.
The unit should always be drained of all water prior to shipping.
IMPORTANT
Remember to have the fill and drain bottles connected to the unit if you
want to leave the unit onbut want to keep the wicks wet. If the unit is
keeping the wicks wet and the drain bottle is not connected, the unit will
attempt to drain the water unsuccessfully causing the drain pump inside
the unit to run continuously. You will hear the drain pump clicking all the
time which means the drain pump is running but cannot drain the water
anywhere. Connect the drain bottle to avoid this problem.
