making this plane the best model you will ever build and fly. We provide you with the
highest quality kit and performance possible. We wish you great success in the assembly
and flying of your new Aeroworks Stingray Electric ARF.

An R/C aircraft is not a toy! If misused, it can cause serious bodily harm and property
damage. Fly only in open areas, and AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) approved
flying sites. Follow all instructions included with your plane, radio, and motor.

INTRODUCTION
Your new Stingray Electric ARF is a highly maneuverable electric powered sport airplane. It is
capable of gentle and stable slow flight to full out pattern flying. We hope you enjoy building and flying
your Stingray. This aircraft builds easily, quickly, and accurately due to the CAD design and LASER
cutting technology. The wing, stab and fuse are pre-assembled and covered requiring only a minimum
amount of gluing or drilling.
The Stingray Electric ARF can be transported completely assembled. This totally eliminates
assembly time when you get to the flying field. The battery installs easily with Velcro to get you into the
air quickly to enjoy high performance pattern flying.
A HIMAX 2820 motor is shown in the assembly instructions. The aircraft was tested with this
motor, a Kokam 3 cell 11.1v 2000 HP LiPoly battery, and a Hacker X-30 speed control. These
components provided excellent performance. The final choice of motor, battery, and speed control is left
up to the builder. A minimum four channels in the radio are required to allow the pilot to take full
advantage of the capabilities of this aerobatic aircraft.
Before starting the assembly of your new Stingray, please inventory and inspect all parts and
hardware for imperfections or damage. Notify AEROWORKS IMMEDIATELY if there are missing or
damaged parts.
IMPORTANT! Please read through the assembly manual carefully before starting assembly.
Follow the order of assembly in the manual. This will help save time and eliminate any chances of
building errors.
INTENDED USE
This plane should not be regarded as a toy. This is a high performance plane and is recommended for
pilots who are beyond the trainer-stage and are comfortable with flying a high performance sport plane.
WARRANTY
It is important to notify Aeroworks of any damage or problems with the model within 30 days of
receiving your airplane to be covered under warranty. If you wish to return this aircraft for any reason a
15% restock fee will be charged to the customer. In addition the customer is responsible for all return
shipping cost and all prior shipping cost will not be refunded. Parts will be exchanged or replaced once
the original item is returned at the owner’s expense. If you have any problems, please contact Aeroworks.
Aeroworks cannot insure the skill of the modeler and cannot influence the builder during the
construction or use of this aircraft. Therefore, Aeroworks will not be accountable for any property
damage, bodily injury, or death caused by this aircraft.
The purchaser/operator accepts all responsibility of any and all structural or
mechanical failures.

COVERING

1. Open your kit slowly and take care not to damage
any parts of the kit. Remove all parts from their
plastic protective covers for inspection. Before
doing any assembly or installation of any decals
it is very important to re-shrink or re-tighten the
factory applied covering. Due to shipping, heat
and humidity changes from different climates,
the covering may become lose and wrinkle in the
sun. If you take the time to re-tighten the
covering, you will be rewarded with a long
lasting beautifully covered model.
2. Using your covering iron with a soft sock, gently
apply pressure and rub in the covering. If any
bubbles occur, your iron may be to hot. Reduce
heat and work slowly. If bubbles persist, use a
small pin to punch holes in the bubble to relieve
trapped air and reheat.
3. Warning! If you use a heat gun, do so with
extreme caution. Take care not to apply too
much heat to any area for long periods of time.
This may cause the trim colors to over shrink and
pull away leaving unsightly gaps on the color
lines. The color trim lines are especially
vulnerable to over heating and over shrinking.

WING ASSEMBLY

1. Gather the aileron servos and control horn parts
as shown below.
2. The Stingray comes with CA style hinges pre
installed, but not glued into the control surfaces.
Hinge ailerons by first pushing a T pin through
the center of all CA hinges. This will ensure
hinges remain centered. Next, slide hinges into
pre-cut slots. Make sure that slot in CA hinge
runs perpendicular to hinge line. This allows CA
to wick to the back of the hinges.
3. Next slide the aileron onto wing making sure all
hinges go into their slot. Remove the T pins and
press the aileron against the wing trailing edge.
Allow enough hinge gap to ensure maximum
control throws.
4. Next, place 3-4 drops of thin CA on each side of
all hinges. Do not over soak the CA hinges.
Glue may run out and cause binding.

5. Press the aileron control horn into the pre-drilled
holes. The holes in the control horn should face
the aileron hinge line. Trace around the base of
the control horn with a sharp pencil.
6. Remove the aileron control horn. Use a T-pin to
punch small holes through the covering material
under the base of the control horn on the bottom
of the aileron. Clean the area with alcohol. This
will allow the CA glue to penetrate and bond the
control horn to the wood.
7. Use a small piece of medium sand paper to
scuff the bottom of the aileron control horn
as shown. Clean the bottom surface with
alcohol for a good CA glue bond.
8. Use a small piece of medium sand paper to scuff
the aileron covering material at the control horn
location. Clean the surface with alcohol for a
good CA glue bond.

9. Reinstall the aileron control horn to the bottom of
the aileron. Glue in place with thin CA around
the base. Allow the CA to wick under the control
horn but do not allow excess CA to run out and
bond to the covering material.
10. Attach an easy link to the aileron servo arm as
shown. Use a 2mm or 5/64 bit to drill out the
servo arm holes if necessary. Do not over tighten
the nut. The easy link must rotate freely in the
servo arm. Secure the nut with Lock Tite or a
small drop of CA glue.
11. Locate and pull out the string from the precut
aileron servo hole. Use caution not to let the
string fall back inside the wing.
12. Next tie the string to the aileron servo wire. Use
a small piece of masking tape to secure the string
to the servo plug. Fold leading edge of the tape
in a taper shape to assist in threading the servo
wire through the wing.

13. Next pull the string and servo wire through the
wing toward the center section of the wing.
14. Pull the servo plug through the pre-cut hole at the
center of the wing.
15. Use a small piece of masking tape to tape the
servo wire to the top of the wing.
16. Install the servo in the servo hole with the
servo output arm facing the leading edge of
the wing. Mark the location of the servo
mounting holes.

17. Use a 1/16 bit to drill the servo mounting
holes.
18. Mount the aileron servo using servo
mounting screws
19. Make a 90º bend 1/4” from the end of the wire
aileron pushrod.
20. Slide the nylon pushrod keeper on to the aileron
pushrod as shown below.

21. Tape the trailing edge of the aileron to the wing
root as shown.
22. First slide the push rod through the servo arm
easy link and then install pushrod through the
middle hole in the control horn. Install the nylon
pushrod keeper onto the end of the push rod as
shown.
23. Ensure the servo arm is centered in the neutral
position and then tighten the easy link screw
against the wire pushrod.
24. Use wire cutters to cut off the excess aileron
pushrod wire. Leave approximately 1/4" to 3/8”
extended out of the easy link for any future
adjustments.

25. Now repeat the above steps on the other wing
panel. The aileron servo and pushrod assembly
is now complete.
26. Next remove the tape holding one of the servo
wires on the top of the wing root.
27. Carefully thread the string and the servo wire
under the center of the wing and out through the
hole with the remaining servo wire. Use caution
not to let either servo wire fall back inside the
wing.
28. Now attach a “Y” connector to both servo wires.
Secure with safety wire, string, tape, or other
method. Ensure the plugs will not come apart
from vibration or light tension

29. Finally, insert the “Y” connector plug inside the
wing center section with just the single wire
extension extending outside the wing.

The wing assembly is now complete.

TAIL SERVOS, STAB, AND
ELEVATOR ASSEMBLY
1. Gather the elevator and rudder servo and control
horn parts as shown below.
2. Attach a 12” servo extension to each of the
servos. Secure with safety wire, string, tape, or
other method. Ensure the plugs will not come
apart from vibration or light tension.
3. Attach an easy link to the elevator servo arm as
shown. Use a 2mm or 5/64 bit to drill out the
servo arm holes if necessary. Do not over tighten
the nut. The easy link must rotate freely in the
servo arm. Secure the nut with Lock Tite or a
small drop of CA glue.
4. Install the elevator servo in the servo hole on the
left side of the fuse with the servo output arm
pointing forward. Mark the location of the servo
mounting holes.

5. Use a 1/16 bit to drill the servo mounting holes.
6. Mount the elevator servo using servo mounting
screws.
7. Mount the rudder servo the same way in the right
side of the fuse as shown.
8. Gather the stab and elevator parts as shown
below.

9. Next install the wing to the fuse with the wing
bolt. Lightly tighten the wing bolt to secure the
wing to the fuse. Now, insert the stab in the fuse.
Measure the left and right sides at the trailing
edge and center in the fuse.
10. With the trailing edge of the stab exactly centered
in the fuse, mark both sides of the trailing edge
next to the fuse with a sharp pencil as shown.
11. Use a bean bag or some other small weight to
keep the fuse from moving on the work table.
Measure from the inside of the wing tip to the
trailing edge of the stab tip on both left and right
sides. Adjust the stab so that both left and right
side measurements are equal with the stab still
centered in the fuse.
12. Without moving the stab, trace the edges of the
fuse onto the stab with a sharp pencil.

13. Remove the stab from the fuse. Use a sharp
hobby knife to lightly score the covering material
just inside the pencil lines on the stab.
IMPORTANT: Use caution not to cut into the balsa
wood below the covering material and weaken
the stab structure.
14. Carefully peel off the covering material between
the fuse lines to allow a good wood to wood
epoxy bond.
15.IMPORTANT: Install the wire
elevator connecting rod in the fuse slot
as shown. Do not forget to do this
before the stab is epoxied in place.
16. Gather the epoxy, mixing cup, mixing stick,
alcohol, and wiping pads shown below and clear
the work area for stab installation. Use 15-30
minute epoxy to allow adequate working and
clean up time. Mix epoxy in mixing cup.
20
