CLIENT OUTCOMES
Support to assist mobility, reduce pain and/or fatigue:
• Lightweight and highly adjustable wheelchair enables customisation to support the wheelchair user as well as
the support person who assists with pushing the wheelchair
e.g., the EVOKE 2 manual wheelchair can be adjusted
- to support an altered centre of balance for users with a lower limb amputation or lymphoedema
- with seat, backrest, armrests, footplates, castors and wheel camber to improve comfort, function and
independence
- by raising or lowering the back canes to improve comfort for the person who assists with pushing the
wheelchair
• Swing away footplates improve access for standing/step transfers on/off the wheelchair and swing-back
armrests allow for side transfers

aidacare.com.au1300 133 120
• Optional accessories can support a wide range of individual needs e.g.:
- Stump supports for a lower limb amputation;
- Oxygen bottle holder for users with respiratory support needs;
- Gutter arm rests for users with low tone in their upper limb;
- Lateral supports can be fitted for users requiring postural support
Independent mobility within the home:
• Compact and lightweight wheelchair with tight turning circle is suitable to use within the home to support
those with limited mobility and endurance
• Large rear wheels and the lightweight frame enable the user to self-propel to access areas of their home
independently
• Seated mobility can assist those with limited mobility to maintain their usual occupations within their home
e.g., accessing bathroom and toilet when the distance is too far to walk safely with another type of mobility aid;
seated domestic activities such as meal preparation
Improved access for local community and holiday travel:
• The folding wheelchair can be placed in the boot of a car to support mobility, balance, pain and fatigue
management when out and about or when on holidays
• A manual wheelchair can substitute for a power wheelchair or larger fixed frame wheelchair when the car
used requires a compact solution. It also provides greater flexibility to get out and about as the wheelchair can
be stored in the car and there is no need to fit around public transport or taxi schedules
• Quick release wheels and removable legrests provide a lighter lifting weight and ability to fit the wheelchair
into a smaller boot space
• Folding x-frame makes the wheelchair suitable for use on wheelchair carriers and for car hoists; it also means
less room for wheelchair storage within the home
• An optional headrest can be attached for safer travel in a maxi-taxi or on public transport
• Large rear wheels improve comfort for uneven outdoor terrain
Support for socialisation, health and wellbeing:
• Wheelchairs provide increased mobility and independence for the user and their carer, allowing them to take
part in everyday activities, despite having reduced mobility.
• A wheelchair can allow the user to continue to enjoy their favourite activities, whether that’s a walk around the
local park, visiting the local shops, catching up with friends or heading to a gallery. A wheelchair gives the user
a more active lifestyle that may result in a more positive outlook on life.
Carer support if required:
• Adjustable handles and larger wheels make it easier and more comfortable for the carer when pushing the
wheelchair over longer distances, or for slopes or uneven terrain

Care for Your Chair:
• The seat and backrest upholstery can be removed by loosening the screws and wiping with a wet sponge and
a mild detergent. All other components can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
• Check tyre condition and tyre pressures at least twice per month.
• Check that rear wheel spokes are not loose. Loose wheel spokes can reduce the strength of the rims and must
be safely adjusted by a qualified technician.
• Always keep rear wheel quick release axles clean and free from dirt and hair build up.
• Should push rims become scratched these should be de-burred or replaced to avoid damage to skin
• Brakes should be checked regularly.
