General Safety Precautions
The Airssential AiroMax®compressor has been tested and certified to meet international
electrical standards. It is however important to observe the following rules to avoid
electrical accidents:
1. Before using this device, check the integrity of the compressor pump and the
accessories. Ensure the casing and power cord is not damaged. If damage is
observed, contact the Airssential Customer Care Centre to arrange service before
further use. Product safety may be compromised if repairs are performed by
unauthorised personnel and will result in voiding your warranty.
2. Before using the compressor the power cord should be fully unwound and the
device placed to operate on a stable surface. Ensure the power cord does not pass
over sharp edges or is pinched. Keep this device and power cord away from heated
surfaces during operation. When not in use, disconnect the compressor from the
mains power.
3. Do not obstruct the compressor’s ventilation slots during operation or cover the
compressor during use. Do not insert any object or body part (e.g. pencil, fingers,
etc.) into the interior of the device when operational.
4. This device is unsuitable for anaesthesia and lung ventilation. Do not operate the
compressor in the presence of any anaesthetic, inflammable solvent or gas.
5. Protect the compressor from weather conditions or high humidity as it is not protected
against the ingress of water or liquids. Do not leave the compressor exposed to high
heat sources or corrosive chemicals as this may damage the device.
6. Before cleaning the compressor disconnect the power supply. Ensure no water enters
or that the compressor is immersed in any liquid. Do not handle the power plug or the
compressor with wet hands. If the device becomes wet, immediately disconnect the
power and contact the Airssential Customer Care Centre to arrange service.
7. Ensure that the electrical rating shown on the bottom of the compressor corresponds
to your mains voltage and frequency before plugging in the device. If the compressor’s
power plug does not fit your wall socket, have the plug changed by an electrician,
provided the compressor’s electrical rating is suitable to operate under local power
conditions.
8. Compressor operation can be affected by appliances emitting excessive
electromagnetic radiation. If such interference occurs, plug the compressor into a
different power socket.
9. If a malfunction occurs during operation, immediately disconnect the power to the
compressor. Refer to the “Troubleshooting” section of this manual. If the problem does
not resolve, do not open the compressor’s motor compartment or attempt to repair the
nebuliser. Contact the Airssential Customer Care Centre to arrange service.

7
AiroMax®Nebuliser System
User Precautions
1. Do not operate the compressor on carpets or in very dusty environments (e.g. under
a bed) as particulate matter from the environment may be aspirated into the lungs or
cause the compressor to malfunction with extended operation.
2. Do not drop the compressor as it is neither shock proof or impact resistant.
3. Never use the compressor while bathing, showering or dozing. Do not use the device
when feeling tired or dizzy.
4. This nebulising system is not intended for use by anyone (including children) with
limited physical, sensory or mental abilities unless under the supervision of a suitably
trained, responsible person.
Do not use this nebulising system on animals.
5. Some of the nebuliser system’s parts are small and could be swallowed by children
or disabled persons. As a safety precaution, keep all nebuliser system components
out of the reach of children and disabled persons.
6. Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding dosage and regimen of medication. Add
fresh medication to the nebuliser bowl for each treatment. Do not use water only in
the nebuliser bowl for nebulising purposes.
7. During therapy, some operational noise or vibration may be caused by the compressor.
This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.

8
Operating Instructions
iThe AiroMax®nebuliser is supplied with a variety of accessories to allow
treatment to be individualised to specific needs. Consult with your doctor to
recommend the most suitable accessory to administer your therapy.
iDo not share accessories. All accessories are for single patient use only.
iPrior to the initial use of this equipment, clean the accessories as described in
the section “Cleaning and Disinfecting” of this manual.
Thoroughly wash hands before each use. Check that the accessories are clean before each
use and hence begin therapy, as follows:
1. Open the nebuliser bowl and add the medication. Ensure the BLUE conduction cone
is properly fitted inside the nebuliser bowl.
2. Close the nebuliser bowl and lid by twisting or pressing the two halves together.
3. Connect the air-tubing to the bottom of the nebuliser bowl and the compressor’s air
outlet.
4. Connect the mask or mouthpiece (as directed by your doctor) to the nebuliser bowl.
Either place the mouthpiece in the mouth or fit one of the face masks over the mouth
and nose.
5. Turn the compressor’s ON/OFF switch to position “I” to start the therapy. Ensure to
breath naturally during treatment. To stop or interrupt treatment at any time turn the
ON/OFF switch to position “O”.
iDuring therapy:
i. Sit in an upright and relaxed position. Do not lie down or sit slumped (e.g. in
an armchair) as this may restrict the medication’s entry into the lungs and
decrease the efficacy of the treatment.
ii. Ensure that the nebuliser bowl is not tilted at an angle greater than 45° as this
will decrease the medication’s nebulisation rate
iii. Stop therapy and consult your doctor if the medication’s inhalation makes you
feel unwell or causes pain.
6. At the completion of each treatment turn the ON/OFF switch to position “O” and
disconnect the power to the compressor. Discard any remaining medication in the
nebuliser bowl and clean the nebuliser bowl and accessories as described in the
next section of these instructions.
7. At the completion of each day’s use, clean and disinfect the nebuliser bowl as
described in the next section of these instructions.
8. Store the compressor and accessories in their carry case when not in use.

AiroMax®Nebuliser System
Cleaning, Disinfection, Maintenance and Storage
Cleaning
Follow the procedure below to clean the accessories and compressor’s housing.
1. Switch the compressor off and disconnect the power from the device.
2. Disconnect the air-tubing from the nebuliser bowl. Discard any residual medication
remaining in the nebuliser bowl. Rinse all parts of the nebuliser bowl and hence soak in
soapy, warm water for 5 minutes. After soaking, rinse all parts again with warm water.
Arrange the accessories on clean, absorbment towelling to dry before next usage.
Failure to clean nebulising accessories after use may decrease the effectiveness of
the treatment or lead to infection.
3. The compressor housing may be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. Do not use harsh or
abrasive cleaners, to avoid scratching the compressor’s surface. DO NOT immerse
the compressor in any liquid. DO NOT rinse the compressor under running water.
Accessory Disinfection
Disinfect the nebuliser bowl before its initial use, and at the completion of each day’s treatment,
or if the device has been unused for longer than 4 weeks. Follow the cleaning procedure
described above before disinfecting the nebuliser parts by using one of the methods below:
1. Disinfection is recommended using a medical disinfectant solution. Carefully follow
the disinfectant manufacturer’s directions for use.
Alternatively, the accessories may be disinfected by soaking in a mixture of one-part
white vinegar with 3 parts of hot water, for 30 minutes.
2. After disinfecting, arrange the accessories on clean, absorbent towelling to thoroughly
dry before next usage.
Care of the Air-Tubing
1. After each use, check the air-tubing for condensation. If condensation is present, connect
only the air-tubing to the compressor and run the compressor to force air through the
tubing for up to 20 minutes, until the moisture has been removed by the airstream. Forcing
the moisture from the air-tubing in this manner alters the environmental conditions that
promote bacterial accumulation.
2. Do not soak or clean the air-tubing with water or any disinfecting solution. If the outside
of the air-tubing is dirty, wipe it clean with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent. If the
inside of the air-tubing appears soiled or discoloured, it should be replaced.

10
Filter Replacement
Replace the air filter immediately if the filter is discoloured, damp or after a maximum of
3 months of regular usage. Do not operate the compressor without a filter installed. To
change the air filter:
1. Remove the air filter cover.
2. Remove the old filter and insert the new filter.
3. Replace the air filter cover into position
!
Use only original air filter replacements
from Airssential, in this device. Filters are
single use only. Do not wash and re-use
air filters.
Storage
Store the compressor and accessories in their carry case, when not in use, in an area away
from children and pets. Protect from extreme temperatures, dust, high humidity or direct
sunlight. Always transport the compressor and accessories in its carrying bag.
